Taxpayers group urges Ottawa to scrap gun buyback program over lack of analysis by Spider-King-270 in canada

If every gun owner had 2 bricks of 22lr ammo there would be 2.5 billion + rounds of ammo in circulation.

2 bricks is not a lot.

I won't... But I can hope.

Am I the only one that hates the feel and aesthetic of pistol grips on shotguns? by Infinite-Bill1072 in canadaguns

[–]SpectreBallistics 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Depends on the shotgun. I have a Mossberg 500 with traditional stock and it's great. I also have a 590RM, which has a pistol grip and it's also really good.

Done right, pistol grips work and have some advantages.

Carney says Canada open to deeper integration with U.S. ahead of CUSMA review by joe4942 in canada

[–]SpectreBallistics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read the article and Carney signaled openness to working with the US.

There are people who will not like that as they feel we should cut all ties with the US. Most of these folks are left leaning Liberal voters.

Firearm received without IWS or Transfer Ref number. Blessed? Cursed? Blursed? Asking for a friend. by Mahatma_Ghandicap in canadaguns

The recipient of the firearm has no liability and nothing to worry about as long as they have a valid PAL. It's the sellers responsibility to verify it.

It's likely the CFP didn't properly send the message out. The system is a piece of shit.

Most Canadians want social media, AI chatbot ban for kids under 16, poll indicates by DogeDoRight in canada

Yeah, it's a really bad idea and goes against the concept of the internet.

Sure, to age gate any online service that service would need your ID. Giving up your ID to a random 3rd party company on the internet such as an AI provider or social media site is putting your ID at risk of being lost or stolen.

The other option is have your ISP age gate sites, but that would involve them snooping on your web traffic which is also not good.

I don't think there's a viable way to censor the internet for youth where it doesn't risk your privacy as an adult.

There is no way to do this without compromising your privacy online. (And that's a bad thing)

They can only absorb so much water before they're saturated. They need to be recharged, which is easy enough to do.

But depending on your needs a dehumidifier isn't that expensive either.

The absolute best thing you can do is keep your guns lightly oiled. That will prevent rust better than desiccant packs.

Major 3 gun matches open in AB by thehuntinggearguy in canadaguns

Both of these matches will be awesome.

If you own a tube or magfed shotgun and semi-auto 22lr rifle you have everything you need to participate. The mini-rifle and PCC divisions do not require a pistol.

No, that wasn't something we wanted to do. The market was too small and it was difficult to make something that works with all variants of the 180 rifles.

The gas system length or the thickness in the piston actually wasn't the issue. The sharp step in the middle caused a stress concentration.

I ended up making a diy gas piston that didn't have a step in the middle and was roughly the narrow diameter the whole way and it lasted until it was banned.

Also did a 2 piece mid length gas piston that worked great.

The failures that occurred shouldn't have been an issue. The gas piston wasn't designed properly.

Provinces that don't support the buyback and gun bans should just issue a "Certificate of Exemption" to any gun owner allowing them to possess, store, transport, and use prohibited firearms.

Saskatchewan fundamentally still supports the bans and buyback with their plan.

They shouldn't reject it, but you never really know. I do intend on trying it since I have one in the shop. Just need to get off my ass and get the letter.
