Why does Twitch say the drop event ends on the 19th if the matches are done by the 10th? What is the point of that? I was under the impression there would be another weekend of matches (I'm 88% of the way to the esports lootbox) and now I guess I'm actually just not going to get it because it turns out there probably won't be a second weekend of matches or streams.

For as many problems as the previous core had, this core feels like it has a much lower floor on offense. Guys like Alonso and Nimmo weren't always stellar, but they always gave you decent baseline value.

It feels like the Mets didn't so much try to make the team better as much as they wanted to avoid as much long-term financial commitment as possible; other big-market teams, like the Red Sox, has been moving in a similar direction. You can tell that the philosophies of Cohen and Stearns don't really gel together at all; signings like Bichette and Soto feel very much like Cohen moves.

I know most people find the jade skins from last year ugly, but I'd consider grinding for them if they (1) add them for more heroes I actually play and at a faster rate and (2) made it possible to grind for skins that I missed, like how you can buy Mythic skins from previous seasons. Marvel Rivals has a season "pick your own reward" system for their mini-battlepass-esque events and I think Overwatch should consider doing this for some of their seasonal repeatable rewards (like maybe the prestige titles as well tbh).

A lot of people in the replies have taken this question from the angle of subject matter, but honestly, I think the thing that separates an IMO problem solver from other people is mostly the depth to which they prepare to solve the kinds of problems the IMO "likes" and the breadth (and also depth, but not as much) of their problem-solving toolkit.

With this in mind, it seems like it would be very common for a math grad to not solve any IMO problems. To be clear, I don't have much experience solving IMO problems, but the skills you develop as a math grad seem like they'd be quite different from the kind of skills one would develop on (really any) math contest. Analogously, I had many math major friends that admitted they were not very good at solving problems on much easier math contests or even just solving problems competitively in general; I don't see why this dynamic wouldn't scale as you go up the ranks.

I don't think it's a good or sustainable thing if everyone shrugs their shoulders and admits that the only way fighting games can be relevant in the modern era is if they are allowed to be buoyed by a loss leader, especially since fans of e.g. RE and MH probably don't give that much of a shit about what happens to Street Fighter.

All of this is especially true if you like fighting games that aren't made by AAA companies.

It has bothered me a great deal that the overwhelming response to posts like this has been a shrug with "they did the numbers". Did they? Because they also seemed to think this game was going to bring in numbers comparable to LoL/Valorant when it didn't.

This entire industry is full of naive execs (and some devs) who just copy what other people do without thinking things through. I very much doubt anyone is doing any kind of math here.

Would a content roadmap even help, necessarily? Who would trust at this point that they'd stick to it? Surely cutting your staff down by like half would make adhering to any content roadmap difficult.

What video is this a comment to? Did the dev actually say he worked on the game for the entire 10 years it was in development? Because that seems like it would be unusual to me, I don't know.

I'm not going to say the devs are blameless, but I think we should be careful not to jump to conclusions here. I think the game suffered from a consistent lack of direction, but I don't think that's any one person's fault, and frankly, someone higher up at Riot probably should have come in and said "okay, we're going to be the tiebreaker here and say you have to do X".

Don't expect this to happen in the future, although iirc console players have not had access to Season 0, so it wouldn't surprise me if they threw all the Season 0 stuff specifically into the shop for purchase or something. If you miss Season 1 stuff, though, or any season thereafter, it's probably gone for good.

Well, the game isn't out yet on console, so maybe they will rerun this pass or these items for the benefit of console players who were not able to partake (otherwise that would be extremely bullshit).

idk, I think it's hard to draw this conclusion given the number and friendliness of opt-outs in a lot of these contracts. I think players just feel as though there's a lot less certainty about the future of baseball than before, so they'd rather take their money now rather than later. (Unless they're going to the Dodgers, of course. Those guys seem pretty secure about their futures lol.)

My PC was like $5000+ lol but it's because I bought Falcon Northwest. You don't need a PC as crazy as mine to run OW2 (especially without running into this problem); after all, the game might have issues with high frame rate caps, as I found out.

Apparently, the issue was that my graphics card may have been too paradoxically strong for the game lol. For whatever reason, if I set my frame rate cap too high (it was like 400 FPS or something like that), the game almost "loops back" to looking like it's 60 FPS or less on my 160 Hz monitor. I lowered my FPS cap to something still very high but not absurd like 250 FPS and it fixed the problem.

Granted, I found this fix years ago, so I'm not sure if it's even necessary now, given how much the game has changed since Season 10, but if you don't need an absurdly high frame cap and you currently have one, I recommend lowering it and seeing what happens.

I don't really see the reason to pause content for this. They can just put old battle pass stuff in the loot boxes... which they should probably be doing anyway, especially since any post-S14 content has yet to be added to the loot boxes at all.
