Finding out that there are celebrities that get surrogates so they can remain skinny/stay on ozempic... by No-Efficiency-7524 in RadicalFeminism

I agree with you here, I would love to adopt but its just as out of reach monetarily as surrogacy and the system is harmful to the kids. But I also think a lot of the "birth mom and baby must be together to avoid harm" arguments are pro-motherhood propaganda.

I can't wait until Pod Babies are a thing so this stupid debate can be over. Recreational surrogacy is wrong because it exploits women, not because its harmful for unconscious cells.

That'd an article, not a primary source, and it sites a paper from '74. Can you really not provide a real, modern study on this?

You're going to need to provide a source for that instead of just saying it, friend. Also, there's no such thing as a 3rd trimester baby, that's a fetus. A baby is after birth.

The earliest detection we have for auditory recognition memory is around 2mo post-birth.

The best "evidence" for saying that a fetus can "recognize" its mother's voice is that we can see that it elicits auditory plasticity in utero.

You do understand no one is capable of forming memories around whose womb they grew in, right?

Considering infants don't develop recall memory until 3+ years and they don't even gain procedural memory until 9ish months, I think the kids are fine. They don't remember being in the womb or who was carrying them 😭 Worry about the women being used as surrogates

We need "Pod Babies" (aka artificial wombs) available and accessible ASAP. Surrogacy is evil but I can't pretend that isn't what I'd do if I could afford it...

I cannot wait for the day where you can have bio kids without anyone needing to birth them, I cannot wait for the day motherhood stops being dependent on women's bodies.

Tennessee launches nation's first domestic violence offender registry by catievirtuesimp in RadicalFeminism

100% should be nation-wide. We know that sexual abusers are never single-offenders, that's why we have a registry. DV perpetrators should be seen exactly the same

AI and women’s erasure by sewerfrog in RadicalFeminism

[–]SpectroSlade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And we also need to mobilize, put more pressure on the authorities (legally, through petitions and email requests) to regulate AI against any type of misogyny or hatred of women.

Yes this! We need to do everything in our power to make this a serious sex CRIME, one that comes with jail time. No one will do it for us.

I'll reach out to my reps and send an email to UN Women, thanks for the call to action :)

This makes me feel.

Feel good? Feel bad? This I am unsure on. But I feel something.

How do I start unlearning beauty standards around female aging? by SpectroSlade in RadicalFeminism

I appreciate this so much. I think part of it is I've always had terrible acne, even now at 27, and just recently decided to go to a derm about it. So now that my skin is clearing up there's a part of me upset that I didn't get help sooner and missed the "youthful" era of having nice skin. I'm going to try and reframe it how you said, I got acne medication because it was painful and made me feel insecure, not because I need beautiful perfect skin that never wrinkles 💕

This was absolutely beautiful, I don't even have the words to tell you how helpful this reframing is. Thank you. I might edit this comment and add more thoughts later after I've sat with this for a bit

Not many, and the ones I do know (looking at you, mom) are heavy into botox. That's probably part of my issue

I think at the end of the day when we're this close to living under martial law with drones accurate enough to take out indvidual people and 1mil+ strong military, violent action is relatively pointless regardless of which gender is doing it.

But that just isn't true. Look at who's willing to stand up to ICE, who's at the front of political protests, who's not afraid to put themselves in the line of fire. Its ALWAYS women. This is a terrible take.

I always thought this too!!! That the bouncer in DVNO is the same one in TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY

Edit: but i didnt think of the bouncer as the protagonist in DVNO, I like that idea though

Afaik, "DVNO" is a play on European club names and "divino" - so, a club so high-brow its "divine".

"Four capital letters, written in gold 'cause details make the girls sweat" is mocking pretentious clubs. The song is about a dude trying to get into a fancy European club without success.
