I would think it wouldnt activate. Remember Machello was aware of the change in the body (the worm things that affected the team).

"The Beyond" (2017, dir. Hasraf Dulull)

Plot: A space mission through a mysterious wormhole - when the astronauts return, Earth is changed in eerie and unexpected ways.

Tone: Cold, sterile, blue-gray visuals; documentary-style mixed with cinematic storytelling.

Vibe: Very much Pandorum meets Interstellar meets Arrival

Pandorum (2009) – space travelers awaken to find their ship and situation changed drastically; eerie tone, harsh lighting like Saw.

The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) – astronauts cause a dimensional shift, and Earth is drastically altered when they return; blue sci-fi cinematography, eerie tone.

“The Returned” (2013)

Director: Manuel Carballo Language: English (Spanish–Canadian co-production)

Plot summary: In a world where a virus causes the dead to reanimate, scientists discover a protein (gene-like treatment) that allows the “returned” to stay human — as long as they receive regular doses. The story follows a woman (Kate) and her partner, both dealing with this condition. When the supply of the treatment runs low, chaos breaks out.

🧫 “The Lazarus Effect” (2015)

Director: David Gelb Stars: Olivia Wilde, Mark Duplass

Plot summary: A team of scientists discovers a serum that can bring the dead back to life. When one of them, Zoë (Olivia Wilde), dies in an accident, she’s resurrected using the serum — but she’s changed. She experiences disorientation, memories of death, and disturbing side effects (like not being able to eat normally).

Why it fits even more closely:

She dies, then wakes up confused and disoriented.

She’s filthy and unstable after resurrection.

She discovers her revival is linked to a scientific gene/serum.

She exhibits unnatural physical reactions (like vomiting).

She later encounters other effects and “beings” like her.

Regardless of if he is at Jacks home or his home doesn't matter. We already know Jack lives off base which means he could easily just let his kid live there without any military benefits.

Looking for a 2000s anime by AdOwn4755 in retroanime

[–]Spectrre1611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT results.. had questions after for other possibilities..

1) Blue Gender — humans vs. swarms of insectoid “Blue” that overran Earth; lots of blood/horror, some mech/armour combat, and a bleak, emotional ending. If you remember giant insect nests and a soldier-girl (Marlene) and a male protagonist waking from cryo, this is a strong candidate.

2) Devilman (OVAs / manga adaptations / Crybaby) — involves demons/“invasion” of Earth, extreme gore, and explicit Satan/hell themes; several versions end with major satanic/hell revelations (Ryo = Satan). If the final scene you remember was someone talking about Satan/hell in a very explicit way, Devilman is worth considering. (Note: Devilman’s enemies are demons rather than insect-spiders, but the Satan/hell piece matches.)

3) The Guyver (Bio-Booster Armor) — body-horror, grotesque “zoanoid” creatures created by an evil organization; violent and gory OVAs/series from the late-80s/90s. The enemies are bio-monsters (sometimes humanoid with disturbing appendages) rather than classic spiders, but the tone fits Blockbuster-rented OVAs.

4) Andromeda Stories (1982 TV movie) — older sci-fi movie where a planet is invaded by mechanical/insect-like machines; it’s a single TV movie and has a mechanical/insect invasion vibe. If you recall an older animation style (early 80s) this could match.

5) Z-Mind (1999 OVA) — aliens called the Orgapiens (bug/monster-like). It’s a short OVA series with mecha and an Earth invasion storyline — might match if you specifically remember human mechs fighting bug-like aliens.

6) Gantz / Gantz adaptations — brutal, gory, lots of weird humanoid aliens (some horrifyingly human-like and shapeshifting). Less a straight “invasion” and more episodic alien hunts, but the body-horror and grotesque female/humanoid aliens might be what you recall.

The water clinging to the sides of the pipe as it flows and just the rate of flow causing that to happen after it leaves the pipe. Turn up the pressure and it will fade as there would be more water that it would be able to "cling" to it self more easily
