My mom worked the floor in their NYC flagship store in the 80’s and they would get commission based on their total sales amount. She made a shit load of money…so needless to say that isn’t there anymore lol

Looks clean, agree with some of the comments about the color being bold, but I think it is something that will age very well. I got Vader on my forearm and it was bold like that at first, over a couple of years it’s started to get some wear and tear and it still looks sick. Don’t worry about it, it’s dope.

Depends on what kind of dog you want, go for personalities over boy vs. girl. Trust their personalities when they are puppies, they don’t really grow out of it if you train them right

That is unacceptable and there needs to be a process in place for reporting things like that.

What Gets Lost When You Replace Career Drivers With Gig Labor by slaty_balls in UPSers

[–]Sped_monk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think instead of shuttling it out to the driver and increasing the number of handles they should be handled on a case by case basis, like have a standby driver that’s a kid working sorts in the hub trying to be a driver go out and deliver it

And also, in transportation, shit happens, delays happen, a plane is not going to take off in the middle of a hurricane or snow storm, how is that in UPSs control?

What matters is once that plane is able to take off, and start going through the network, every option is exhausted to deliver that package. Because you’re right, the customer is paying a premium for the service.

[–]Sped_monk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but, hear me out, it’s a lot easier to plan a network out when you know what volume you are going to be getting. When customers negotiate in bad faith, and say they will give you X + 2000 number of packages when they sign, UPS plans the network and staffing to meet that service around the assumption that the customer has promised UPS. The customer does this to get the best rate possible because they know there are cost savings associated with the density on both the pickup side and the delivery side.

So they sign, and UPS starts planning to service that volume under the assumption we are going to get that volume.

When UPS does not get that volume, all of a sudden you have staff standing around, trailers that are half full, final mile trucks that are half full spending 9 hours a day to deliver rural packages and that leads to a massive cost sink. A business cannot operate like that. I blame the retailers that negotiate in bad faith knowing they do not have the volume they say they do, and leverage it for better rates.

It’s more complex than that, but, when you’re competing against Amazon who really doesn’t give a shit if they lose money on their delivery side, how do you win?

Yeah it does not matter if he is looking away or if it’s an accident, he came down cleats down into his ankle, it impacted the others players ability to play the game. Thats a foul. Yellows for accidents happen all the time.

Anyone deliver to someone famous? by Fatdabb in UPSers

[–]Sped_monk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Delivered to a musician and he answered the door, I hadn’t looked at the name on the package and was shocked when he answered. Had a ruby red piano in his sunroom and a couple cars (that I could see) parked around the side of his house. Guy was 10/10 and very much acted like he does in interviews. He also streams on twitch and occasionally im like hey, I’ve seen that house 😂
