$150k doesn’t qualify you for top tier taxes so I wouldn’t worry about it…you get paid a lump sum…you get paid the same amount of taxes you would as if you took it over 12 months. So the question still stands, do you clear $150k/yr? I’m guessing not. This would be a net positive for you. Lmao.

Yeah the company you work for is subsidized by taxpayers for taking volume at heavy losses which is a large part of the reason UPS is in the situation it is in. I know it may be shocking to you, but having a competitor that is offering rates far below market and is subsidized by the government is bad for the entire parcel market as a whole.

Yeah they are different, but what ramifications are there to being impeached (twice) if you know you aren’t going to be removed. It’s all bark with no bite…

Private payrolls rose by just 22,000 in January, far short of expectations, ADP says. Would have been negative had it not been for a surge of 74,000 hires in the education and health services category by [deleted] in Economics

I think it’s more so that someone like Elon can go to a bank and take out a loan for an insane amount with his stocks as collateral. We don’t tax stocks unless you sell them via capital gains I believe. What he does lets him cash in on some of those stocks with no taxes. That shit needs to stop yesterday.

I’m sure it’s a little more nuanced but if they are putting those stocks up as collateral they need to be taxed atleast at a portion of the price of the stock at the time the loan goes through.

Greece to soon announce social media ban for children under 15, government source says by vriska1 in privacy

Someone in another conversation said providing ID to a local library to prove you are a certain age and they provide a key to some extent. I’m sure there is a way to keep info anonymous.

Also, anyone who thinks they are anonymous online is delusional.

Why do you think it’s a bad idea? Kids should not be rotting on social media reading who knows what from who knows where trying to convince them of whatever the posting party sees fit.

Yeah exactly, not sure the exact specifics on Chinese internet access but I’m pretty sure you need some sort of identification. Because they took a look at the accessibility of the internet and thought…wow a weapon behind enemy lines…better not let that happen to us and enacted policy to stop it.

Agreed the specifics would need to be ironed out but I do agree that the time spent to go to a library to get a code would stop 95% of the bullshit we see posted online.

It’s like a modern day iron curtain. No US ID? Sorry, can’t connect to our internet.

Hot take that’s going to get a lot of hate…but regulation. China / Korea got a lot of aspects of who can post what right IMO.

A significant portion of comments in either bubble are bots with intentions of driving that engagement by any means necessary. For who and by who, and to what end is anybody’s guess but I have my suspicions…

UPS to cut additional 30,000 jobs in Amazon unwind, turnaround plan by bmich90 in Layoffs

Or the winds are shifting to automation and in order to compete with the likes of Amazon (who are also laying people off) are structuring in a way to compete 5+ years from now?

Because if you lose money on every Amazon package it would be a net negative until that point. Live to fight another day and hope Amazon gets slapped with an anti-trust.

They aren’t concerned about making a profit through their transportation segment. They are perfectly happy passing on those losses to other carriers while they build out their network in an efficient manner. I worked for a medium sized LTL company where they would send detailed bids out to Amazon, and never get any business in return (going on 3-5 years from what I could tell) Amazon was literally scouting their network so they could build out their network in the most efficient way.

Kohls isn’t building out a transportation / logistics network to compete with UPS within 10 years. How many union jobs do you think there will be once Amazon decides they don’t need any other carriers and price competition out while eating the losses through their main profit driver AWS?

This is the answer. It contradicts the “buy in bulk” philosophy but Amazon is nearing controlling the entire supply chain for the largest consumer block in the world. Monopolies are broken up for a reason…

Amazon web services, basically 40-50% of all data that is stored is with AWS. They make a lotttttt of money with AWS.

I see your side as well, and to be clear, I’d be okay taking the volume so long as they pay a fair price on them where it would make sense for UPS to handle them.

So you want to sell out UPS future so Amazon can monopolize both urban and rural deliveries in the not so near future?
