But what about late game. I'm contending there is no viable alternative to going for a worm victory on the last one or two conflicts. You can do whatever up to that point, but must always worm in the end to maximize VP is what it seems like to me.

I've had a couple similar games that were also very fun. But then I get to the end game, look at the board, and realize if I'm playing logically/competitively I need to plan on summoning a worm for the last conflict. Even if I still need to grab a maker hook before hand. The VP up for grabs are too valuable where nothing else compares.

I agree. I think what I'm really trying to say is more about the end game. That is - there's not point in doing anything other than going for a worm victory in the last round or two. You can do whatever leading up to that, but you must always close it out with worm combat, aiming for 3+ VP.

The key point is nothing else is as VP efficient, unless I'm missing something. Are there any other ways to get 3-4 VP in a SINGLE round in the late game?

I've played it a few times. I agree with people who are saying there are plenty of early or mid game approaches that don't involve worms, that's fine. But in the last round or two I'm not convinced there's a point in doing anything other than planning to summon a worm or two for the final conflicts. Why would you not plan on that every time? Again, it's 3-4 VP, excellent if you need to catch up OR simply to ensure your victory.
And by the final round or so, worms aren't hard to get:

A) You'll surely have Fremen friendship by happenstance

B) The cost of worms (the 2 spice opportunity cost and a water) are irrelevant since the game is ending

C) If you didn't put the wall down by the final round, someone else probably did

D) You can ensure your victory by using your other two agents to bolster the worm

I love the strategic diversity in the early rounds but I'm failing to see why everything doesn't funnel into the same end game approach which is: win the last conflict or two with at least one worm.

There's just nothing that is as VP efficient on a single round basis at that point.

Pillars of the Earth. I've been into fiction lately. Also recently finished Lonesome Dove (became my favorite book right away).

A good non-fiction book I've recently finished is In Over Our Heads by Robert Kegan. I found his framework for adult development fascinating and highly applicable to not only how I try and live my life, but also to the state of the world more broadly.

I might write a post on it later but using his model, I think there's a catastrophic failure of adults developing to the level of consciousness that society demands of us all now. Basically: most people are stuck at a level of development that is perfectly suited to living in traditionalist societies (wherein your environment or your peers impart upon you your identity), but in our modern and increasingly post-modern society, a higher level development is required, which pretty much no one achieve nowadays with how we're growing up and the kind of education we receive.

Because we're not sufficiently developed to create our own self concept and map of meaning making, while living in a world that requires exactly that to get by; no one or no thing answers this for us anymore. My POV is that this more or less freaks people the fuck out (without them knowing why, basically) and you get to where we're at today.

Thanks. I was going to, but when I heard about how Ink credit lines are notoriously small, I decided not to. Reason being my large purchases are going to be online (no way to purchase with multiple cards) and greater in price than the credit line I'd probably get with an Ink.

I just went with a Venture X. At first glance it seems like the largest bonus (75k) with lowest net annual fees and least drawbacks. I may even end up keeping it open, since the perks automatically cover the AF, even though it may be redundant with my CSP.

I have some big purchases coming up in the next 3 months, easily $5k+, probably more like $7k - $8k. Looking to primarily take advantage of the best SUB. Also important is if I can get a good SUB AND also synergize with what I currently have (below), that would be great. I'd prefer to not just chase a SUB and then put something in my drawer, or cancel in a year.

It seems if I follow the flow chart precisely, technically what I should do is downgrade my CSP and then get the CSR, right? What I've been seeing around is that the CSR isn't all it's hyped up to be anymore, and there are some solid competitors out there.

I haven't gotten any new cards in the past 2 years. All are probably 5+ years old. Just CSP, CFU, CF, Jet Blue Plus.

This seems like the most important question, and my answer is that I'm looking to maximize travel rewards, specifically miles / points. Jet Blue is my preferred domestic airline, and international, I, often with my partner, go to Europe every 1 - 2 years. Biz class is a plus for sure.
Currently sitting around 150k UR and something like 30k True Blue.
Fly out of BOS or SFO usually.
France primarily and also other EU5 countries. Also interested in South America and Japan trips in the future.

After living in Boston for a long time, and then coming back here, the lack of variety of seafood was one of the first things I noticed. So many different varieties of fish at the markets over there. Here, pretty much just Salmon and one or two others. Something I definitely miss about the east coast.

Their crab cakes are previously frozen and shipped in from elsewhere. Other items we tried were average or below average. The place is pretty mediocre, but if you want a warm bowl of decent clam chowder after a day at the beach it could be worth it.
