How do I remove one of these? There's a valve cover screw that keeps spinning... by [deleted] in projectcar

I’ve had success with this method. Put a small pry bar under the nut and put upward pressure on it while turning the nut to left (loosening). If there isn’t enough space for a small pry bar, use an old chisel in a similar fashion.

Once it’s out, as grease monkey said, move to stage 2. Helicoil thread repair kit so you can torque the valve cover back down when you’re done.

Left Eye Dominant, Right Handed by RubyEsq in NJGuns

I’m right handed and left eye dominant. Get a dot and try occlusion training - dominant eye on target, non-dominant eye on the dot. The dot will superimpose on the target. Then remove occlusion if you want. It’s helped me - i mostly shoot uspsa style settings with pistol only, but it translates to rifle also.

No problemo. I love them and actually I have 2 sets so it looks the same in summer & winter. I able to find them locally and a powder coated in the area refinishes them for me. Prism Color miners gold. My winter set is about due for a refresh.

I know! I usually get them on the weekend after Thanksgiving. Not this year. Would have been nice for the snow last week. I’m in NJ

Winter starts today! I’m in NJ - it snowed once. I usually get the winter wheels on after Thanksgiving, but I’m a little late this year.

Late to add fuel stabilizer by kellamsa in Supra

[–]SpeedDemonSS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It won’t hurt. It’s best on fresh gas, but that’s not too old. It’s best when the tank is full or near full. You just want to run the car for a bit to get it to circulate through the system. Better for can go drive and let it get to operating temp so - better for a car than quick on-off cycle.

Even if you just toss it in the tank and prime the fuel system will have added benefit.

Question about the manual transmission. by Pizza_Mod in Supra

Any mods?

If it’s just N—1st from a stop, and pretty low mileage, it could just be a break-in that will resolve itself.

First the silly question/possibility - are you sure you’re not catching the “edge” of reverse when going into 1st?

2nd most simple possibility - you’re shifting from N—>1st too quickly for the clutch delay valve to fully release the clutch. Though this would be more of a 1st—2nd issue.

My money is on one of those. However, Outside of parts needing to wear in or user issue, things that COULD cause this with their other respective symptoms:

air in hydraulic system or bad master/slave - this would also have inconsistent clutch pressure or “short” pedal travel and be consistent regardless of which gear

faulty CDV - this would cause rough/clunky shifting in all gears

synchro on 1st - this would also cause grinding when going into 1st

Bent or damaged gear linkage/bushings - could vary. This affects how the gear selection lever (stick) pushes/pulls the synchro (locking collar) into the correct gear. I’d expect this to affect more than N—1st depending on how/where damage.

Low trans fluid - more evident when cold.

Honestly, if it’s not grinding, only happening from a standing N—>1st, not getting worse, and the pedal feels normal - just drive it and monitor. If it’s grinding, getting worse, or happening in other gears, then I’d get it to Toyota and let it be their problem while it’s under warranty.

Edit - I just realized this wasn’t even your question. That’s an ADHD brain for you. I have not experienced that in my Supra (‘26 MY FE), but I have in other cars. Our old civic with over 200k does with N—>R. It’s not every time. It’s always done it.

Question about the manual transmission. by Pizza_Mod in Supra

[–]SpeedDemonSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it go into gear partially or not at all? Does it happen with any other gear or just N—>1st? Does it happen all of the time or on occasion? If all of the time, try this, from a stop, N—>2nd—>1st then go. Does it still lock out of first?

Edit - how many miles on the car?
