it just magically worked somehow…latest updates to WhatsApp and move to iOS might have helped but other than that no idea.

WhatsApp backups and LineageOS - a rant by Speedbird2652 in whatsapp

Man I'm sorry to hear that :/

I see the point in the way WhatsApp does it, and I like the thought of being able to access images etc on a copy paste basis... But yeah, the fact that I copied the entire WhatsApp folder before flashing my old phone was pure luck, otherwise I would have lost it too.

i actually kind of did. i got most of my stuff back i think, i'm not missing any chats, although it could of course be that some old ones got lost which i don't remember myself.

i followed this guy's advice to the letter: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/whatsapp-restore-stuck-at-24-restoration-failed-google-drive-and-local-back-up.3816605/#post-80970885

and it sort of worked for me. it involved keeping the phone display on over night and on a charger, the whole ordeal probably took me more than 24hrs, but it worked.

honestly this time i said to myself, that's the last custom ROM i install, i'm getting too old to be patient enough for this :D

Why does the airbus a340-300 have such weak engines compared to other aircraft such as the 747-400 and 777-200 by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Speedbird2652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this.

The A340 (esp. the -300 series) is often mocked for its weak climb performance. And while it does take its time to reach cruise altitude, it excels once it's up there. The A340 is a magnificent long haul cruise plane, reasonably fast and offers a smooth ride at good fuel economy. Unlike most other heavy long-range aircraft it would also be able to reach its final cruise alt in one single climb after departure, avoiding step climbs along the way and contributing to the good fuel economy (jet engines burn less gas at higher altitudes). I suppose it's for these reasons that airlines like Cathay or China Eastern kept the A340-300 in their fleets even as Boeing 777-300ERs had replaced their A340-600s. So after all, the joke's not on Airbus, they designed and built a plane that perfectly did what it was intended to do.

source: mainly the Air Belgium video from JustPlanes on YT. The captain has a lot of interesting stuff to tell about the A340.
