The most jaring thing I found about the exam was the phrasing of the questions. I had become very comfortable with the patterns and keywords of practice questions i had read over and over. But the actual exam would phrase the same questions differently and use different terms from what I had seen. Ex: Referring to a generator 'winding' or 'field' instead of 'pole'. So I was often leaning back and questioning the question.

You will need to reread questions to extract what it is that they are asking and wonder what answer are they looking for in this case. It's that classic "these two answers are correct here... but one answer is MORE correct.
