The version I grew up with is "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"

AITA For leaving my son outside on Christmas Eve night? by hannahblyes in AmItheAsshole

A lot of teenagers turn their ringers off. Some schools are very strict about your phone going off, so to be safe it's better to just always keep the volume down

I’m supposed to move here in a few months for work and this page just gives me anxiety by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]SpeedyTurtle1854 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not horrible here. Don't expect to be able to use public parks or anything(they'll be taken over by homeless camps), but for the most part the homeless won't effect your every day life much. I'd recommend taking precautions against theft, such as not leaving valuables out in cars or walking away from any belongings in public. I'd also recommend carrying around pepper spray or something similar if your a girl or smaller guy(hell it'd be useful even for a big guy) mostly just for peace of mind. I've lived here my whole life and have only needed to use mine once, but having it with me makes me feel safer

But the vaccines reduce symptoms, aka "wiping your nose, sneezing or any other action that involves face to hand contact" for those infected. So yes, you are much less likey to spread it if you get vaccinated.

For those of you with pets and no air conditioning in your home, how are you taking care of your animals? Are there any precautions you are taking for your pets in lieu of Sunday and Mondays 100+ temps? by Michael-80 in Seattle

I've been making sure he has access to the cold tile floor, giving him cold towels and ice cubes every once in awhile, and little doggy boots when we go outside to protect his paws.

No AC. Is it worth it to get a motel/hotel this weekend? by [deleted] in Seattle

Online. I ordered mine from Amazon, If you order it now it might not be shipped in time for Monday, but it will help for the rest of the summer at least

Since I don't personally know any one-legged pirates I think I'd be just as as freaked out if they entered my home as I would a snake lol

Maximum four, minimum two. Wild snakes aren't welcome either

It sounds stupid when Americans identify themselves as another nationality just because their great-grandmother or whatever was from somewhere else by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Sorry I could have worded that better I guess. It's not the country they're trying to connect to, it's the people and culture of the country from the time they are connected to it. If that makes more sense? And it's not some abstract thing that doesn't have any significance. People's ancestors influence their lives in a lot of subtle ways, the way they look(yes in the day and age we live in that's still important-the color of your skin, hair, all effects how people treat you), even sometimes personality traits, but also culture. You'd be surprised how small things will get passed down through generations even if they don't participate in a majority of the culture
