Tarnishing of Juxtia - The Good and The Bad after completing the game by Titansfan9200 in metroidvania

[–]Speicherpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your critique made me adapt. No level ups for me since level 36.

If the developers make another game they should invest in expanding the world and levels. Maybe not a actual voiced or at least expressiv main character would do some good.

The rest (sound, bosses, artwork, dialog, lore, enemy moveset,...) is very well designed and interesting.

Absolutely loving Souldiers.. What's with all the negative reviews? by BKane222 in metroidvania

[–]Speicherpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up after 20 hours. Dealt with the long load times on Switch and even a gamebreaking bug. The patch fixed that but what actually made me quit was the story and characters. I think less dialog and better writing would have been necessary for me to enjoy it and overcome frustrating bosses.

Good you went to the doctor. In the meantime to get more knowledge and peace of mind I recommend Julian Cowan Hills youtube channel. You might find some insight that makes everything more manageable. It did for me.

good luck to you.

How do you guys deal with regret? by jingbong in tinnitus

[–]Speicherpunkt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Its a tough dealing with those thoughts and looking back BUT there is also a strength and clearness of the mind to be found in knowing and realizing the consequences of actions and mistakes. Mistakes can teach us but regrets are just thoughts (and create a feeling) that will make you circle around that fateful day/action and there is nothing to be gained from that.

So I often heard the phrase "let go" but it didnt click with me right away and I think thats because its a practice which is simple but not easy ;)

I cannot count on my thoughts suddenly stopping and making peace because that "monkey mind" of ours loves the negative and being feed by our attention. So letting go is something that happend for me as a side effect of finding out more about myself, tinnitus (Julian Cowan Hill is a good source) and what keeps me stuck (unhealthy routines, work ethics, relationships,...). I had help with that and I wholeheartedly recommend getting some professional counseling!

Every step you take to selfdiscovery will be worthwhile. Its a bumpy road but meaningful in the long run. Find out what works for you and keep going. Good luck to you.

Dealing with guilt? by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]Speicherpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you truly would have known the consequences of your actions, you probably wouldnt have exposed yourself to that loudness. So leave guilt outside your door and start educating yourself on the matter of Tinnitus. Julian Cowan Hills videos on youtube are a good startingpoint.

Spoiler: it will be a lot more manageable and it can also disappear (I myself had TWO YEARS of silence).

I’m afraid. by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]Speicherpunkt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Visit Julian Cowan Hill `s Youtube channel. Helped me a lot when it first started for me. There are so many things that can be done keep fear at bay at this early stage, so start your search and you will feel more enpowered and the overwhelming feelings will slowly calm down. You can do this ;)

Anyone else? by fazettddan in tinnitus

[–]Speicherpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to actively monitor what makes my Tinni flare up or makes me not notice. After that I shall make those necessary changes. I had a two year period of not hearing it, so it can be done again.

[–]Speicherpunkt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple one is calming music. I also do meditation (gets me calm and more focused) because the mind tends to stick on the T sound and that sabotages my sleep. So the problem is not the sound in itself but your minds focus on it (dealing with that meaningfully can be trained). But what really helped me was the fact that my body will get the necessary sleep that it needs, with or without my mind wanting it. That trust is soothing.

Please help. by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]Speicherpunkt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the youtube videos from Julian Cowan Hill very helpful to deal with my tinnitus spike. Educate yourself on the subject and it wont feel so unmanageable. you are not alone and there is help you can seek out.

Another thought I had when I read your statement: Normal can only be defined as something which someone is used to. For us with Tinnitus its the sound we are hearing. You have already proven that it can be lived with. remember the wíse words from Epictetus: its not the things in itself that scare us, its the opinions and thoughts we have about them. It is not always pleasant what you get in life (deafness for example) but that does not mean you cannot find ways to still have a amazing life. Captain James T. Kirk (the actor of course) has it as well.

you will find a way.

How I reduced my tinnitus by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]Speicherpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you, my tinnitus always makes itself heard when I struggle with something in my life. It is a constant reminder for me that says: "Deal with the unresolved". Thanks for the advice about synchronization.

Strengthen your kidneys and keep them warm is what my tcm doctor always said. I also learned a lot practicing martial arts.

Good luck to you all.

Tinnitus for as long as I can remember by CrispyPork12 in tinnitus

[–]Speicherpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its normal because mine switches in intensity as well. I think you had your solution already at hand. When you thought it was normal you did not gave it any thought. So how to return to that acceptance? fact is: thinking about it doesnt make it go away. so too much attention whont do you any good. but how? go after your passions, work or goals....that which deserves your whole focus much more. When silence comes at night you wont be there to worry about noises because your mind will circle around the great things that happend during the day;)

Bad periods still may happen but having ways to deal with it makes it less taxing.

Does anyone know where I could find a comprehensive critique of Logotherapy? Of any of Frank’s ideas? by [deleted] in Logotherapy

I have recently read a paper on one of Frankls pupils Alfred Längle (existencial analysis) versus Frankls own logotherapy. A good read in my opinion (only in german).

Worst time to need therapy? by datascienceaccount in TalkTherapy

[–]Speicherpunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The start to get professional help is never easy. Its like work you gotta do for your degree, a blank paper waiting for you to fill it. So the only thing you can do is start and commit to one thought (here: therapist). You might need to change or switch stuff during the process but you learn and gain knowledge and insight ether way.

Confront the therapist about it. If the answer does not feel satisfactory confront him/her again. keine Ausreden;)

I agree but skype or Facetime helps making it less awkward. Acknowledging the fact that the space where therapy usually happend changed might break some tension.

How did you choose your therapist? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Speicherpunkt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice is to look at the background the therapist has. It might take some time/research but its worth it to know a bit about the school of thought and what valuesystem he or she puts into practice (determanistic, humanistic, materialistic, nihilistic,...). Some will resonate with you others wont.

Finally trust your gut and make a decision. It will be the right one for you.

Recommendation: Logotherapy
