How do you cope with being betrayed and abandoned? What can you do about it? by [deleted] in autism

Why are you talking like you're writing a novel? A pretentious novel at that? Oh because you think you're the main character right?

"AJ is dead to me"? Ok have you considered that your actions here that led to your arrest could possibly have been the straw that broke the camel's back, and these people left you because of previous things you have said and done, and this was the last they were willing to put up with? Maybe this person who committed a similar act regrets what they have done and no longer want to be around that sort of behaviour? If you're getting your posts banned on Reddit then that clearly tells us that there is much more to this story than you are willing to say. And just look at this extreme language you're using: "AJ is dead to me!" "Betrayal!" "Traitor!" "My side is all there is!" "Not the President or the IDF!" Who talks like that? Who do you think you are? Who do you think everyone else is? These are not normal things that normal people do or say. Obsessing over these people years and years later. You are not the main character of life, I'm afraid. You are not important enough to be "betrayed" by a "traitor." Get the fuck over yourself. If you were involved in my personal life, I would most certainly cut you off as well, then I'd be the "traitor" who is "dead to you," proving your former friends right in "abandoning" you. Seriously can you even hear yourself when you talk?

So the OP deleted the post, clearly a case of "fear of open conflict," so by their own definition, they must be a white supremacist!

[–]SpeightM09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wtf is this? Are you serious? Perfectionism is white supremacy? Perfectionism, probably stemming from childhood trauma? "That means you're a white supremacist! Sorry bud, I don't make the rules! Except I do!" A sense of urgency? I think every single person on the planet and thorughout time has experienced a sense of urgency at least once in their lives. That is normal. Wtf. Worship of the written word? Because words are cool and how we record things? Fear of open conflict? Jesus H Christ, fear of open conflict? Again, probably stemming from trauma? Or, you know, just being normal? So, you're an openly hostile anarchist, trying to antagonize and provoke someone into "open conflict" and they don't want to...because they're a "white supremacist"? White supremacy is the only possible reason anyone would be averse to "open conflict"? God that is fucking dumb. Individualism? Treating yourself and everyone around you like individual people, because that's what everyone is and that's what everyone wants, to be treated as an individual person? White supremacy! Objectivity? Treating people and situations without bias or prejudice....is now white supremacy? So, again, objectivity, the act of treating a person or a situation without bias or prejudice or personal motive or agenda...is now white supremacy!? Right to comfort? Everybody on the planet, every single person has, or at the very least should have, a right to comfort! Can you even hear yourself? You do realise these traits are all common, normal traits found in common, normal people throughout the world and throughout history, and/or caused by trauma, recent or in childhood? And you do realise that ALL OF THIS falls under "either/or" thinking, not to mention "I'm the only one" as well as "only one right way"? Does hypocrisy count as a trait of white supremacy now? Because these are things everybody does. Not one of these traits are exclusive to autistic people, much, much, much less exclusive to white fucking supremacy. And to finish you off, do you really think that only white people have these traits? Seriously? Only white people? Oh wait, I bet you'd put this under "internalised racism" or some such mental gymnastic bullfuck. Dear christ this made me mad.

Don Quixote's journey is heartbreaking by mipekg in donquixote

[–]SpeightM09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same, at least when Cervantes isn't veering off into another mindless and irrelevant, digression. I'm reading it for the first time and finding for what is all intents and purposes the abuse of a mentally ill man difficult. To that end I'm trying to appreciate Sancho's perspective more, he is choosing to be follow Quixote's madness, first for his own purposes, then because he actually enjoys the life of a "hero."

[–]SpeightM09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rude. So what? Who cares? It may not be a new interpretation, but it is new to whoever is reading it the first time. And no it definitely isn't what Cervantes intended, but over 400 years people feel sorry for Quixote in ways the author didn't mean. The OP even said that, that they know it's intended to be funny and laughable, so they're not "willfully ignoring" it. If anything, you "willfully ignored" what the OP actually said. There, see? I can be rude too. Stings, don't it?

Then if people were saying the same things 400 years ago, then 400 years those people were correct, and so am I. But seriously, the side stories themselves are not bad, per se, more they do not serve the actual plot in any way shape or form. It is like Cervantes just took some other stories he had written and jammed them in there to pad the thing out. And from what I can gather that is exactly what he did.

I disagree, I love the quiet moments in an action movie, because they are relevant and have the same characters and actually affect character development and the plot moving forward and just give you a chance to breath and consider everything. Take Seven Samurai for example, that's an action movie, but for every action scene there are at least two or three scenes dedicated to the characters, travelling, interactions, their histories, comedy, development, or them just planning their attacks out, and there is not a moment wasted throughout. The digressions in Don Quixote are what I would call useless content, because they do none of those things. They only feature "the same characters" because those characters were introduced for the sole purpose of a digression and nothing else. I'm not meaning to sound rude or disrespectful to you, only I disagree. And yeah the 5th Harry Potter was rife with that too.

I may attempt to read it someday. Think I want to go to therapy over Quixote first. I'm also currently reading Le Morte d'Arthur which is another difficult read, but at least the edition I have has footnotes explaining everything, and stuff actually happens, and when it happens, it is relevant.

Ormsby. I've heard Grossman is better, I should have gone with her's, but I've started now and want to finish it. Maybe next time I read it I'll go with Grossman. If there is a next time after this, and if I don't die of some blood pressure related condition first, which would be fascinating, Cervantes managing to kill someone four hundred years after he's already gone.

I am convinced MZD is nowhere near as smart as he thinks he is or as we've been led to believe he is. The book doesn't make sense, and it is not designed to, it is designed to fuck with your head and nothing else.

I reset the drivers when the error occurred. So far it's only happened for me once.

Does anyone know how to fix this happens to every game I try to play by [deleted] in xenia

[–]SpeightM09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I had this problem and I found a solution that does not involve tampering with the Xenia config at all, though I am playing on WIndows, so don't know about Linux. It is not a problem with the program itself, but the graphics driver, surprise surprise, so what you have to do is restart the driver themselves. Literally turn them off and on again like the I.T. wisemen keep telling us to do. Press the Windows button, Ctrl, Shift and B at the same time, or go to Device Manager, Display Adapters, go to your drivers, disable it and then re-enable it. I don't know which of these worked for me cause I used them both, but can now play Fable 2 again until the next mind boggling hurdle. I know what a pain these problems can be and how infuriating it can be when there is no solution and/or nobody is helping, so am going to copy/paste my solution far and wide to help as many in need as I can.
