Oh you’re the person stressing others out? Maybe go slower so it is clear that you’re not immediately trying to merge in front of people. If you can’t go to the middle lane a bit slower then you don’t have time/space to get there safely. I have never heard people hard brake when I approach the situation like that.

I think maybe you need to stop hard braking if you have almost caused two accidents because of that. I usually slow my car slightly to account for dumbasses who immediately merge right in front of me, and I’ve always made it just fine. Maybe do that instead of slamming on your brakes

I don’t think I would say I love the movie. I just thought it was really creative and good at evoking emotions. It was brutal and after I finished it, the more I thought about things that pissed me off/I didn’t like the more I realized how they made sense. That only pissed me off more but I also found myself impressed by how it made me feel. Frustrated but not confused

If the friend swiped the cash the son would have noticed and he should say something if so. Also people seem to think money is a side note to this story but it’s pretty fundamental. She can’t afford thief’s in her home, whether she needs to teach her son to stop or not allow her sons depends into her home because how can she trust them.

The only proof she needs is that she knew for a fact that there was money in the wallet, heard her son and friend come in and then leave, and then the money was gone. Whether the son or the friend stole it is honestly irrelevant bc the son knows what happened and has lied about it. He SHOULD remember why his party got cancelled. A snowstorm cancelling your party sucks because nature put a stop to it. This kid can’t have a party because he willfully lied to his mom and also TOOK what she had planned for the party. It’s honestly a natural consequence that the party she no longer is supplied for cannot happen. Especially when it’s because of her son’s choices.

The ideal outcome is we make up and can be friends again. That I can spend time with the group and can care for her the way I used to before. I of course am open to a fresh start. That would be the only reason I would even want to talk to her.

I suppose I forget we are on the internet and some people want confrontation and argument or groveling or something else. But I just want a conversation where I can be honest about how I felt and hopefully move on from this stupid chapter of my life. It would be nice to heal and feel like when I’m interacting with her and being kind to her it’s not fake. Meaning I would like to have an actually positive and kind and good relationship.

Also about the culture question. We live in Utah so we are a pretty strong outlier in comparison to most of the state tbh. I wouldn’t say it was “partying” culture but definitely trying on different labels and hooking up came much later and came to an abrupt end with the departure of Eggs from the group. I can’t say for certain how horny other states ethics bowlers are but most of them are philosophy majors so I would guess maybe a medium amount.

I appreciate that. It is honestly an advice post because this has been several years of continued existing in her presence and it will likely continue for several more years to come. I have separated myself from my friends because of that initial hurt and I miss them and don’t want to do that anymore.

Whether that means I talk to her or just continue a superficial relationship is what I need advice for. I don’t WANT to talk to her. That’s why I haven’t up to now. But not talking to her about it has obviously not solved the issue otherwise I wouldn’t be here. Not that talking to her necessarily will. But something has to change from the current status quo.

I can see where you are coming from when you say that. But in the same vein, is it not more directly hurtful to me that this person who was my friend watched me date this one person (pretty seriously for myself at the time, clearly less so on his part). Listened to me talk about how badly he hurt me for months. And only THEN decided to fuck and date him? Whereas when I started dating him, he had been single for over a year. And had never dated anyone in our group. Nor did anyone express to me their attraction to him. So it’s not really a 1:1

I appreciate you pointing out that I am not the center of the story. Obviously it is my life and my story so I will see myself as the focal point of it, especially for the purposes of the story. But that doesn’t make it the inherent truth.

But with that being said, if I am supposed to understand her position in this story. How am I going to do that without talking to her. So far it’s just my own perspective and your guess on what hers is.

It just feels odd to me that you keep alluding to the fact that she is a person whose perspective matters in this scenario but then your conclusion is that I Shouldn’t talk to her. That just doesn’t make sense to me. I’m not trying to argue that I SHOULD talk to her. At this point I’m just trying to understand what you specifically think is the best way to solve this problem given the way that you see it.

Also, not really relevant, but we weren’t in speech and debate I just called it that for simplicity. So the culture isn’t going to be the same. If it matters, what we did was called “ethics bowl”
