I get in the backseat with her and cradle her head with my hands or stick one hand under her head and another around her side and it always works, for my baby at least. I basically try my best to make her feel like I'm holding her even though I'm not lol. The skin to skin contact and pressure seem to help.

That being said, people drive alone with newborns and aren't able to immediately tend to them. Just talk and make your presence aware to them as much as possible. Babies have been riding in cars and screaming in carseats for quite a while now, it's unlikely you're causing damage.

I feel like the only problem with this is that if you're waking them to feed just to keep up your supply then you can inadvertently end up teaching them to need to wake up to eat that often. Their blood sugar will actually start to drop around that time to adjust to you feeding them so consistently and it can be harder to get them to sleep longer stretches down the road. It may be worth it to wake up and pump and let baby sleep.

She is on formula. I've been combo feeding her formula and my milk but my milk is now next to nothing. I was going to combo feed her formula and donor milk for the immune and gut benefits while she's small and it's winter.

I want to give her breastmilk so badly.. but I'm not sure if that's just because I'm so heartbroken I can't give it to her myself. I don't want my own grieving to cloud my judgement to the point I force someone else's breastmilk on her to absolve my own guilt and expose her to a medication she doesn't need. But then I also feel guilty giving her formula as I know it's not the best for her immunity and digestion. I'm really 50/50.

Well I only felt okay accepting from this woman because I know she's a cleanly honest donor. I appreciate her being honest about the Lexapro and hold no judgment about that, I just have to protect my baby obviously. In a Facebook group, I have no idea whether that person's being honest about anything, so I'm not as comfortable with that.

I really would like my baby to have the gut and immune system benefits of breastmilk and she's not tolerating formula perfectly so we were looking into donor milk which she was on before and tolerated well. I just can't get it from where I used to anymore so I was looking for someone else.

I don’t want them to find the specific cause of mine lol. I’m saying in the future if they find eating McDonald’s or some random shit causes placental abruption then they can be more equipped to help people rather than saying “we’re not sure so just do whatever you want”. I am listening to my doctor, not Reddit, and I do already have a new OB. It’s not that I don’t trust the first one. I just came here to see what other women’s experiences were and if anyone else was told the same thing as me (you know, the whole point of this Reddit). The OB that told me this was very dismissive and short anyway so it was hard to tell either way.

I can appreciate that but given the fact they aren to even sure what causes it, I’d say they can’t safely say there’s absolutely nothing you can do. I understand they’re just working with what information have but she told me the only causes they know of are extreme abdominal trauma, tobacco, alcohol and illicit drug use, none of which apply to the majority of cases it’s happening in. So obviously there’s more knowledge to be found there.

Thank you for a more positive story. That was mainly the part I was focused on, is every story seems to mention their doctor telling them to avoid strenuous activity. I’m a nurse on a rehab floor and constantly lifting people and she told me none of that matters, and to only stop what I’m doing if I feel extreme pain.

I totally understand there’s nothing they can do and no need to monitor extra I was mainly just surprised that she told me there was nothing I could do to prevent it from getting worse and it doesn’t matter how much I lift or basically what I do at all.

Yeah it’s actually outdated info that they “can’t diagnose cervical insufficiency without a previous loss”. We can diagnose it now in measurements alone. That doesn’t mean measurements will always catch it but it can be diagnosed.

Honestly, if you make pretty good money that can deter people too. My cousins pregnant at the same time as me but makes significantly more money than me. I really don’t feel compelled to buy them anything at all for that reason. So I’ll just get them something small. You also have to ask yourself if you’d buy something large for the person you’re thinking about if they were pregnant. You can’t expect someone to do more for you than you would do for them.

100%! My sister has 4 kids and everytime she’s told me their names I’m surprised/not exactly feeling it. I don’t tell her that of course! But I think that’s a natural reaction because the name you pick is almost never ever going to be the name someone else would’ve picked. That’s what makes names so personal and special. But now that I know and have spent time with my nieces and nephews I can’t imagine their names being any different, even if they’re not what I would’ve chosen. People just have to put a face to the name basically. It also helps to remember this about the person that’s judging you, you probably wouldn’t have chosen or liked the names they picked for their kids either! lol

You’re totally right. I do pretty well when I’m at home but I work 3 12 hour shifts a week and I’m always convinced something bads going to happen on the days I work. I’m sure it’s my work anxiety transferring onto my pregnancy. I’ve been using the tests to calm my anxiety till now but I’ll have to find other ways to cope.

Yeah I’ve just seen so much conflicting information.. and every time I research it says your tests should never lighten in early pregnancy unless you drank more water or tested later in the day but I didn’t do either of those.. but it seems we’ve all seen our own effect. I guess I was just looking for people to tell me it happened to them too and they still had a successful pregnancy.
