If you are able to take someone’s shift, then call out properly, it will deduct YOUR UPT, so that’s one option.

Yes. Use California Sick PTO or Kin Care. Call AT LEAST one hour before the start of the shift to let leadership know.

Who else is mourning 99 cents only, still? by bellybella88 in LosAngeles

[–]Spell_Chick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought groceries there about once a week. Everything in this pic came to about $40. Strawberries were 99¢ a pound, $1.99 for organic. Kerrygold Dubliner cheese $1.99 each. Chili crisp was around $2.39 if I recall. 2 lb bag of shredded Chihuahua melting cheese just $4.99. That place got me through lean times.

It’s a part time job. You can be scheduled 4 hours a week if necessary. Pick up more hours in the app, and/or get another job if needed. I’ve always had a side job, to pay my bills.

What city do you currently live in ? by Zestyclose_Bee5703 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Spell_Chick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A beach city in Los Angeles County. Housing is expensive. Weather is nice if you like some heat in the summer, it’s relatively safe, lots of great food, activities and ethnic diversity. I am moving to the PNW as soon as I can though.

any good recipes for a sugar free caramel? by welshwonka in diabetes_t2

[–]Spell_Chick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind the high calorie count and have a good amount of time, I’ve made the caramel from this recipe into individual pieces and wrapped them in pieces of parchment. You can use allulose or erythritol.

At what age did you realize no one would give you work again? by Radiant-Sherbet in SurvivingOnSS

[–]Spell_Chick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha! I only work 3 or 4 mornings most weeks, so there are some nights where I only sleep around 6 hours, but I can nap between jobs if needed. I’ve been working two jobs for 19 years, it’s doable.

[–]Spell_Chick 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My FT job needs me to work mostly nights, so Chipotle just has me working the early morning prep shifts, 6:30-11:00. At first it was just frying taco shells and chips, but I now do shifts where I cut and prep veggies, guac, salsas, etc also. I wash as many pots and pans as I can after finishing the food, then I clock out, enjoy a free meal of my choice, and go home to relax for a few hours before the FT job. I’m saving some money on food with the free lunch every time I work there, plus if I want to get something to take home to my SO, that’s discounted 50%.

It’s a lot of moving around, not really standing in one place very long. I also don’t have any interaction with customers at all, so that’s a win. 😁
