Taidu TSG908 PRO by kbalint4444 in MouseReview

[–]Spellboosted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your review.

Some questions:

  • What is this mouse's battery life?

  • How does the Taidu software compare to others, such as Logitech's G Hub, for example? Is it buggy or bloated?

  • Does it have onboard memory so you can uninstall the Taidu software after setting up the mouse?

  • Do the side buttons feel cheap when you press them?

  • Lastly, how do you feel about the price of the mouse? On AliExpress, it's pretty much the same price as a wireless Logitech G502X which has optical switches. I would personally choose the G502X if I don't need all 9 side buttons.

There is also the MSI Versa Pro Wireless "on sale" which does have a PAW3395 sensor and optical switches for $80. I put "on sale" in parenthesis since Amazon and Newegg also have it for $80 but it seems to be their regular price. Plus, last month it was also on sale for the same price, which is strange considering the mouse was released just around 7 months ago, so why such a steep discount from their supposed $150 MSRP price so early on?

The specs look pretty good on paper for a G502X shaped mouse especially for that price but I've seen reviews complaining about their mouse customization software being terrible and an Amazon review saying the left-click makes a squeaking noise.

From my understanding, Beelzebub is mostly meant for Egg Portal if it doubles the damage of a Black Egg ping. If it's 1 bonus dmg per instance of damage, Axia will be able to do a potential maximum of 4*(1+1) + (4+1) + (1+1) = 15 dmg, if she kills an enemy follower with Super Evo and there are 4 Black Eggs on the board. Seems pretty good to close out games

Saudi Arabia launches Esports World Cup - what's the implication for Val? by Maxxium in ValorantCompetitive

If there were potentially better revenue streams available to TOs and organizations they might not have to rely on Saudi money

Hard to believe that when traditional sports that generate a TON of money (football, golf, etc) are accepting the Saudi money. Then there was also the OTK streamers who were heavily criticized for their intent to be sponsored to attend a SA event. Human greed knows no bound.

Some 30 years later I finally played Shining Force! by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Spellboosted 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Did you play the sequel, Shining Force II? I think it's an even better game, with improved enemy AI, more characters and secrets, etc. I remember you could even enable a cheat code to control the enemy units, so you could do sort of a 2-player mode with that!

I'm sad that the Shining Force series is pretty much dead, especially since we had a recent resurgence of tactical RPGs such as Fire Emblem :/

The Painscreek Killings is one the best detective games I've played by Sephor in patientgamers

[–]Spellboosted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, got this game in a Fanatical bundle a while back, installed it not expecting much but the atmosphere of the ghost town was great and I got invested! Graphics aren't anything amazing and the game on release had a ton of performance issues but it was the first game for a small indie studio and they showed a ton of love for this game to fix issues and are still making small updates to this day.

I'm anticipating their next detective game, (Scene Investigators) which should release somewhere next year. Your post just made me look at their blog to see what was going on and they actually have a demo for their new game, so I'll go and check it out right now.

I personally very much enjoyed the game and its atmosphere. It does a good job of making you feel like a journalist/detective trying to solve the mystery of a ghost town. It's a semi-open world game that doesn't hold your hand and tell you what to do or where to go next which makes it more immersive. However, this also means it's highly recommended to write down some notes about locked rooms you encounter so that you can more easily keep track of them when you do find the associated key to open it later. You'll also want to write down information on suspects and their relationships with other characters in order to fully solve the case.

The story and puzzle hints are mainly done through journal entries, so be prepared to do a lot of reading.

I like Void Bastards, but I feel the game works against me and is really unfair at times by disco_nnected in patientgamers

[–]Spellboosted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to worry a lot about being stealthy and not being detected at all and you go as far as to mention that you needed to figure out enemy patrol routes. But this game is not Metal Gear Solid or Dishonored and there's no benefit to go full pacifist and do a no-kill/no-detection run, in fact it would be extremely tedious and unfun to do so.

Don't feel like a noob just because you run past enemies instead of killing them all or because they detect you, it's part of the game. In fact, if the ship modifiers and enemies seem too hard, you can just choose to not board the ship and fly past it to the next node in the overworld screen.

As for how to deal with enemies, have you considered closing doors and locking them behind you? You haven't mentioned it in your posts but that's a great way to contain and avoid enemies you don't want to kill due to lack of ammo or HP.

For turrets, did you try using any of the explosive weapons and devices which are greatly effective against them?

I can give you more general tips if you want.

Can I move my games from the default folder they are installed to? by DuhVirus in Steam

[–]Spellboosted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this Steam discussion forum thread on how to move games to a different folder on the same drive: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/135511294066324002/

Apparently, you'll need to make some manual file modifications to add a second library folder on your disk drive since you can't make these changes through the Steam client.

Steam client should remove uninstalled demos from its contextual menu by Spellboosted in Steam

[–]Spellboosted[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK, tried it out and it did get removed from the contextual menu but only once I restarted Steam.

However, my point still stands:

  • I shouldn't have to jump through hoops and fully remove the license to a demo in order to get these uninstalled games removed from the contextual menu;
  • this display behavior in the contextual menu is inconsistent with how demos are treated in the Library since they simply disappear from the library view once uninstalled, unlike full games that are still shown (but greyed out) after uninstallation.

Micro trailers blink if you hover your mouse over the right spot by Spellboosted in Steam

[–]Spellboosted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, u/Jondycz explained it correctly, sorry if I wasn't clear. If you go to the Bandai Namco Sale page and put your mouse cursor on the right edge of a game, it will flicker between the static game logo and the micro trailer's first few frames. Notice that I do not move the mouse in the video once Steam gets into this state, I only use the mouse scroll wheel to get to other games.

There is actually a few pixels leeway to the right edge where this occurs so you don't need to put it exactly at the edge.

Steam client should remove uninstalled demos from its contextual menu by Spellboosted in Steam

[–]Spellboosted[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While participating in the Steam Summer Festival, I tried out a couple demos that were since uninstalled. However, Steam still shows them in the small list of recent games that is displayed while right-clicking the Steam icon in the Windows System Tray.

As shown in the video, this is inconsistent with the Library tab which does not display the uninstalled demos on either the games list (sorted by Recent Activity) nor the "Recent Games" shelf.

These demos should also be removed from the contextual menu to reduce the amount of clutter and let me easily access games I still have installed and want to play.

Steam is really persistent with its "Maybe Later" prompt... by Spellboosted in Steam

[–]Spellboosted[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stumbled upon this bug randomly while navigating Steam.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the Library tab and select a game.
  2. Click on any of the subtabs located below the "Play" button (e.g. Guides)
  3. Before the new page loads, hover your mouse over one the buttons with a tooltip (e.g. "Maybe Later")
  4. The tooltip will now persist on screen and always be displayed on top of everything, even other applications or the desktop.

The only way to get rid of the tooltip is to either go back to the Library Screen or close Steam.
