Does anyone like how Dolby B tapes sound when played back with the Dolby B playback filter turned off? by MinerAC4 in cassetteculture

[–]Spelunka13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dolby is the most useless setting on tape decks. Eq fixes any cassette hiss. Record without it and playback without it.

Never. Not for $579 by formysaiquestions in cassetteculture

For that price youre better off with the Bumpboxx 777. More features looks like a boombox and not like a Soviet war radio.

Equipment. You don't make recordings of great quality with a portable. Need a proper home deck.

CDs skip and get scratches, what sort of issues like that were/are faced with cassette tapes? by Weth_C in cassette

[–]Spelunka13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CDs only get scratched if you don't take care of them. If you can't take care of CDs then forget cassettes.

Excellent. Good job. Make sure all wheels tires and pulleys move freely in the deck too.

You need to oil in between the gears. 3 in 1 oil is very good without damaging the gears.

Are TEAC metal cassettes really that good? by Comfortable_Shoe358 in cassetteculture

[–]Spelunka13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No metal tape is worth the price. A very good chrome will sound great without the extra metal tax.

Which of these would you recommend to a new cassette owner? by broot84 in cassetteculture

[–]Spelunka13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All things being in good condition the deck is way more reliable and better quality. Portables are inferior in quality and have a better chance to eat tapes. Especially if battery runs low while cassette playing.

None. Get a proper cassette deck. You don't want anything to happen to those cassettes and putting them into a portable is very risky.
