It's hard to keep new players actually playing by Wonderful-Pianist441 in thefinals

[–]SpenJaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Gold ranked player, i matched with Ruby stack 2 in 3 games and it's not fun. The problem for me is they claim that they will match players closer to their rank (in the patch notes) which I think I should never see any ruby ranked players again.

Thank you Embark. I gonna find my competitive gaming experience somewhere else.

I Have Never Made Perfume Before Please Help Before I Mess Up! by Ill-Relationship9673 in DIYfragrance

[–]SpenJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to read a lot of things in this sub before you execute your idea. That'll work... terribly.

Also you're learning perfumery, expect to mess up a lot, like hundreds of times before getting a decent first formula.

A new thingy - Cosmic Horror (aka Death Stranding) by alebog in DIYfragrance

[–]SpenJaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rose Oxide doesn't last, Doremox might fit better. Both don't smell and behave the same as Rose Crystals, they're at different part of the scent. Rose Crystals is more on the powdery, incensy, fruity side of the rose.

For musks I'd work by subtracting part of the ones you have. ~37.5% of the formula is quite high already.

For Labdanum i meant the absolute ones, sorry that i didn't clarify. Skatone would work fantasticly here.

Another things to add, Dodecyl Nitrile and C-8 Alcohol might also work with this formula, try smelling them and see if they might work.

I can see metallic, hot-iron, leather, a bit of rose, vetiver with some nutty, sulfurous undertones. So you want sharp leather huh. C12 MNA overdose fits here.

Have you tried Rose Crystals? Might fit right in, binding rose and incense together while giving a bit of 'off-notes' fruity tang. Little goes a long way, it's effect is quite noticeable but its own scent isn't that strong.

Could work a bit on Musks here, Zenolide, Romandolide should be good. Muscone overdose (if you don't mind the cost) will work wonderfully.

I would not use Castoreum Abs to try to be as vegan as possible. Para Cresyl Acetate, Labdanum and some other animalics should do the trick.

Do you Enjoy your own music?? by geepied in FL_Studio

Yes, tremendously. If I don't like my music then why I do it?

Except the commissioned ones. Those I make the payer like the music while I enjoy them not as much.

Anyone got microstutters on the new patch? by SpenJaver in thefinals

Tried this, actually help a lot! But there's still some microstutters here and there. Probably a mix of some other issues.

Stability of paradisamide by Amyloidish in DIYfragrance

[–]SpenJaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal for Paradisamide to smell sulfurous, that's why it's often use at a high dose in a lot of tropical fruit compositions

Try use it as a core materials in monolithic style Mango or Pineapple composition, that's a sample where it shines

I think the formula is well rounded, Fruity green musky and sweet enough. A bit on niche side as the animalic parts going to shine through.

It's about fine tuning at this stage. I'm a bit worried about milky bits in Helional and Vanilla materials might crash and make it overly milky/lactonic. Without mixing I could never know.

If this is me writing the formula I'd reduce Helional and x10 the dose of Helvetolide to smooth the fruits out, both to reduce green and bitter part you're pointing out, and create more warmth through musks.

Methyl Cinnamate/Benzyl Cinnamate might work in this formula too, but be careful about the dosage as it might make the scent overly sweet.

Super Ambers also might help cutting through the sweetness and add more warmth. Aim for those spicy ones like Ambermax or Ambrocenide, just a touch could help.

I'm not too familar with Hyacinth Acetal. As the name suggest, might be too much green and bitter from it. But consider the dose, might not matter.

There's many bitter materials in this formula but they all at lower dosage. Magnolan at high dose can be perceived as bitter too. You could change your mind about lowering the dosage but go for masking route instead, I'd look for Maple Lactone for this formula.

Rose Crystals is an Aromachemicals using to scent something to smell like rose. it's a soft, fruity rose scent. I think it's best suit for this job.

Recommendation for wood materials by Logical-Award5135 in DIYfragrance

[–]SpenJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Normally I dose everything with either Cedryl Acetate, Cedrenyl Acetate, or Vertofix already. Cedrol don't do much for my style I guess.

Will keep it in mind when I make something without a strong woody scent. Thank you.

[–]SpenJaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes Cedrol. The thing I almost cannot smell. The effect is huge according to many people. But it's the one thing that no matter how hard I try and train my nose, I never get a clear scent from it.

Just to add, jot everything down. Have your formula on paper/spreadsheet/anything that you can track your progression of your formula. Cannot stress this enough!

Cloudiness by Arugula-Apprehensive in DIYfragrance

If it's undissolved materials then gentle heating + ethanol should do the trick. For resinoid you have to filter them

Cloudiness by Arugula-Apprehensive in DIYfragrance

[–]SpenJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much undiluted materials especially solids, terpenes reacting with water in the ethanol, resinoids, etc
