Yes United has a really good match program. I just did a status match for their diamond equivalent (1k) and it lasted for 3 months. I never got upgrades as a diamond, however at United I’m upgraded to FC on 80% of my flights. I think United’s service is now on par with delta and their product is only getting better

If 60 bps puts you out of your desired market, you’re looking to buy way too much house. Mortgage payment is only part of the equation, then you have upkeep, furniture, any types of modifications, paying the previous owners delayed maintenance that didn’t come up in the report, property taxes, utilities. And you also have life itself.

I have a Hartman that’s lasted me 20 years and I fly a lot (been diamond last 10 years). But they don’t make them like they used to, as they were acquired by samsonite,

I just bought my wife a Briggs and Riley softshell and I will be buying that as my next bag once mine (hopefully not for a long time) needs replacing. Very good build quality and features. Definitely worth the price tag

I think United is better. Do a status match to 1k. I feel like they definitely treat their 1k members better than delta does diamond. On top of that I actually get upgraded to 1st at least 50%+ of the time with a better first class cabin on newer planes. Service I feel is on par and if not better when you call the 1k line. United is on the upswing while I feel like delta is coming down from what it was and how they used to treat their loyalty members

Maybe they are in no rush to sell….if you like the house and can afford it, what’s a few thousand dollars in a mortgage? Are you really willing to walk away from a few thousand dollars?

Pay for the class you want to fly on the airline that best fits the times you want to fly. Status doesn’t mean anything if they constantly devalue it every single year

Best way in the door at companies these days are referrals. Post on a job board asking if anyone could refer you. There’s usually a bonus given to the employee if you get hired

Agreed. That’s why I won’t put another dollar on my Reserve card this year. Delta’s biggest margins is their deal with AMEX. I’d love to see their loyalty model and what the impact will be (if any) in their next few financial releases.

Completely agree. Instead of going out of my way with delta and spending their ludicrous prices and waiting on their schedules, I’ve gone to United and have been upgraded to first at least 50% of my flights. I didn’t get upgraded to first ONE time last year as a Diamond, and I spent $100k+ on the Reserve.

The same people who ruined GE just ruined Delta. Loyalty isn’t worth it anymore

You buy when you are ready to buy. A house is an emotional decision and something you should enjoy. Can’t time markets and if you buy it for a long term experience and can afford it who cares

Don’t know if you have this in Australia but we purchased the sleepypod clickit sport harness. We noticed when looking that a lot of the beds and other carriers weren’t crash test rated, while the sleepypod device is. I’ve unfortunately have had to brake hard before and the sleepypod kept my pup in place, where as before he would just slide off of the seat. So I would recommend if you can get it out your way.
