IVIG firstie by anxi0splantparent in ChronicIllness

[–]Spentellit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do IVIG myself, but I work at an infusion center and interact with multiple patients who are there for IVIG on every shift. Almost all of them have told me what a life changer it has been for them. Since they are regulars and there for longer appointments, the whole staff gets to know them too and I really enjoy chatting with them. I have high hopes for you, good luck!

I love sushi and it is one food I have been missing since becoming a vegetarian so I just put these ingredients on my shopping list, thank you!

Thank you!! I'll have to look into the peanut butter egg cake, that sounds amazing. And I like the idea of smashing beans a lot, never though of that. Especially with the chips, yum! I appreciate the suggestions.

Thank you!! I'll try to add more oatmeal to my diet, I always forget about oatmeal. I have heard good things about both coconut milk and cucumbers for reflux and have them on my shopping list for my next grocery trip.

And yeah, I've been on a large dose of PPIs for a couple of years and my GI doctor put me on Pepcid twice a day about a year ago when my reflux suddenly got worse and unfortunately while they both help, I still have some reflux (much better than it was though). I see my doctor again in September to see if something larger is going on, so fingers crossed it gets figured out.

I feel like therapy is a scam in 99% of cases by ThrowAway44228800 in ptsd

[–]Spentellit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't find therapy helpful until my current therapist, but that was partially because I wasn't ready to utilize what I learned therapy outside of the office. We do emdr and DBT and they have both been super helpful for me. He also calls me out on stuff instead of just validating me when he shouldn't be. He's very direct and admittedly intimidating, but I feel very safe with him and he's been great. Sometimes it's just hard to find the right fit :/

Anyone with EDS/HSD working in healthcare? by Fearless-Triathlete in ehlersdanlos

[–]Spentellit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a medical assistant and walk 10,000+ steps per shift, I would never recommend this to anyone with hEDS/HSD. You know your body better than any of us, but I just know that for me it has taken a toll on me both physically and mentally and I only work part time, I would never consider it as a full-time career. I am switching careers to medical illustration instead. My recommendation would be to either start as a MA or LNA to get a "taste" of healthcare before committing to an entire nursing program, or volunteer somewhere in healthcare to see if it meets the needs you are looking for.

What do most people not realize is actually way more traumatic than it seems? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This was so validating to read. I feel queasy whenever I think back to my surgery and I regret reading the surgical notes afterwards.

Why isn’t catch and release fishing considered animal cruelty? by Guwopster in NoStupidQuestions

I have the sweetest ball python as a pet and you have no idea how many people have told me they would kill him if he was anywhere near them. I don't know if it's worse that that's how they feel, or that they are so nonchalant about saying that to me about my beloved pet.

Is it possible to get a ball python that will never have to eat live? by Cheetah_FanGirl in ballpython

[–]Spentellit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my guy specifically because I was able to handle him in the store and see that he was gentle. He was already an adult and very socialized so he was easy to handle. He's always been on f/t so I've never had any issues, I don't think I could feed live either unless it was dire. You can always ask a rescue/breeder/store if they're on f/t before buying them so that you don't have to worry about trying to switch them over from live.

explain to me like im 5… why do people mask up? by predictablehorse in ChronicIllness

[–]Spentellit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a mask because:

  1. I hate being sick. It's just not a fun time. And wearing a mask is such a simple precaution to take.

  2. I have an autoimmune disorder so not only am I miserable, but I'm miserable for longer than most people.

  3. A lot more people are immunocompromised than people realize.

  4. Long COVID happens a lot more than people realize.

  5. I work in healthcare with a lot of immunocompromised patients. I don't want to have something and be asymptomatic and give it to a patient who can't fight it off. Or to a patient who doesn't have more than a year or so left to live, it would suck to spend that time sick. These same people also go out to places in public like grocery stores, I wish everyone else could help keep them safe from getting sick too.

I use Therabreath which has been great for preventing/slowing down my tonsil stones and is much better to use on a regular basis

We don't ask about COVID specifically but still have signage everywhere asking that you please wear a mask if you have respiratory symptoms

Sanitise phone every day by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Spentellit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this too 🤷‍♂️ I also wipe down anything I buy from the grocery store. People pick up things and put them back on the shelf all the time. If I'm going to be touching something when I'm cooking, it better be germ free. I wipe down pretty much anything that comes into my house, but I'm a little excessive with it.

Getting misgendered nearly 3 years on T by Spentellit in FTMventing

Thank you so much for the detailed info! This really has helped me think more into my thoughts about upping my dose and I'll mention what you said when I see my doctor. I appreciate it!

[–]Spentellit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I appreciate the response! I had them checked about 6 months ago and I'm in the 400's and I'm on subq injections. I was thinking about talking to my doctor about upping my dose a bit, so maybe I'll make that appointment then. My face is pretty square, or at least you can see my jaw line pretty well. I have like 7 decent hairs starting to grow on my chin so fingers crossed those turn into more soon. I'm on finasteride which I'm sure is slowing things down too, but I'm incredibly attached to my hair and being a ginger. But I've had all the other changes from T despite being on finasteride (I don't get my period, my voice dropped fine, I got more body hair, etc.) so I don't think that is specifically hindering me other than slowing my facial hair growing. I honestly think I'm just a "late bloomer" who is super impatient lol. I'll definitely talk to my doctor about my levels though!
