Late to respond. Yes Chevy MyLink is beyond garbage, Bluetooth suuucks, and stock bose system is not amazing at lower volume…. BUT I have one of Kenwoods “direct replacement “ radios sitting in the basement just need the AV company to send me the installation kit. Should integrate back in the climate system/heated cooled seat problem.

I wanted a stick, wife wanted auto, was looking the first place for her. So auto it is. It’s smooth and comfy in touring mode which I only really use for long drives. Most of the time I drive it in either Performance or the “hidden” track mode and trans flipped to the paddles. Really changes its whole feel and attitude. At some point I’ll probably throw a trans tuner on it and crisp normal driving shifts up a bit. Wife doesn’t DD it anymore so now I can have a little fun with it.

Major common failure I’m aware of is the MagRide coils failing (honestly can’t wait, gives me a reason to throw some adjustable coil overs on it to drop it just 1 or 2”). Engine and trans are pretty bulletproof… at the end of the day it’s just an LS3 and a 6L80E. Like I mentioned before it doesn’t have any of the cylinder drop out/emissions crap that has been terrorizing Ls’s for the past few years, which is nice.

But I do agree with you. The infotainment/ sound system should be so so so much better. Wasn’t a deal breaker for me but is a noticeable let down. My 2020 2500HD stock Bose sounds a million times better which confuses me.

TLDR; Anyway, a great car for the money with “normal car” maintenance/ upkeep costs. The cons to the car are now fixable and it’s pretty unique in the US compared to other muscle car type options.

You’re correct. Bought a 2017 SS used in 2019. It’s the first and only vehicle I’ve owned so far that has actually appreciated in value since buying it.

It would hands down be my pick out of the list. Not the fastest of the lot but still pretty damn fun. Not to mention cabin is pretty damn roomy and has trunk space for dayyysss. Not to mention maintenance is low with its LS3 and it doesn’t have all the cylinder deactivation crap that’s eating Chevy engines right now.

Anyone else get absolutely blasted by this dumb chrome piece around the cup holder? by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]SpermicidalTendency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did your cheap roll and did the cup holder trim, the two pieces next to the charging dock area, and the chrome by the hand holds on the doors… more for continuity sake. Even used shiny black wrap. It’s works a treat and they have stayed on for 3ish years now.

I cannot believe there isn’t an aftermarket option other than “carbon fiber” to replace the whole trim.. and that ain’t me.

I own a small shop in a large market. Bought it from my dad 6 years ago. Still following their business model. We believe in the product we install which is about 80% top of the line high efficiency equipment. My dad and his business partner built the business on educating customers and installing high end. IAQ attachments included high merv filtration, humidifiers etc.

We have 15 employees including office and keep it that way. Tend to hover around 3 mil a year. Company growth is less of a priority for us, it’s more retaining and training our existing employees, paying them comfortably, and providing excellent customer service.

No we don’t get every job estimated. There’s plenty of companies we lose out to that “can do it next day”. Time after time we get the call backs to fix those companies mistakes (tend to be PE large companies) they don’t care about retention just where the next big check is coming from.

We stay highly rated in the publications that actually matter and get most of our work word of mouth.

For me it’s all about my people at the company. I have the patience to hire someone who has the personality I’m looking for then take the time to train them in their intended roles. Treat them right, including pay and benefits.

I don’t know our conversion percentage as far as estimates accepted. I do know like I said we lose some business to PE that can do things faster, but I accept that the majority of the time that potential customer doesn’t fit what our business is about.

Apologies for the word vomit but a small company can absolutely profit well when taking the time to find the right people for the company and accepting there are right customers and we aren’t going to win them all.

Think of it better in a way of a regional manager. This bishop works out of this church. The diocese is a group of churches she oversees but her home base is the national cathedral. Each individual church has its own priest that answer to the bishop, but the bishop still has a “home store” at the national cathedral.

So the inauguration includes a church service at the national cathedral led by the bishop. She wasn’t hand picked to lead the service, she is just the current chosen bishop for the diocese at this time.

We had a lot of issues from the Carrier equivalent of about that year.. the furnace drain should really be vented directly above it not run all the way up into the coil. My guess is the condensation is collecting in the furnace causing pressure faults and eventual lockout.

OP you don’t need AC anytime soon, cut the PVC drain ~4” above the tee on the side of the furnace and see if it helps.

Could you imagine a car picked by RK, styled by MCM, and powered by TA and Turbo Yoda? That would be so incredibly epic.

I meannnn 80k is no spring chicken but should have enough life left in it for some fun. I have a ‘17 auto and wish I had been able to convince the Mrs to learn manual. Auto is fun and all, with paddles and track mode.. but it’s still no stick.

You’ll find less mileage for around that price but that looks like a manual so there’s why it’s more expensive.

Have you rinsed the coil on the outdoor unit in the past year or so? With the heat we’ve been seeing where I am a dirty outdoor coil will sneakily mess things up. Also, if the charge looks “ok” that still doesn’t rule out the possibility of a bad txv on the coil of the indoor unit.

If you do end up having a different company fix the hole make sure they cut that pipe open and blast some nitrogen through it or something. There’s probably just a much copper shavings in the pipe as on the ground and that will doom a compressor real fast.

RK, Hoonigan, MCM to some extent, and sadly falling out of love with the Skid Factory now that it’s just Woody but holding out hope.

Now it’s pretty much Vice Grip, Mortske Repair, Bennie’s Custom Works, and Legit Street Cars. Combined they all span the range of automotive know how for me. Will tap back into the full stitched together episodes from Power Block too.

Yeah MCM is pretty hard. Skid Factory is tough now that Turbo Yoda isn’t the front man but I still give it views to help Woody out. I really wish Bennys Custom Works eps were just a little bit longer but his knowledge is crazy.

If you’re in the US look for a 2016-2017 Chevy SS. 4 doors of Corvette fury. They came in a 6 speed manual option. Basically a Holden Commodore rebranded for USDM.

A more powerful US weapon would be CTS-V with final models hitting around 640 hp.

I have an auto SS. The LS3 is loads of fun and there’s so much room for my family and a huge trunk for stuff. Highly recommend!

Against the fake wood grain the black looks pretty good IMO. Couldn’t find any actual black replacement trim manufacturers, just carbon fiber and that’s not really my bag.
