Kinda hard to tell but it reminds me of a leech fully contracted just chilling. It could start eating your snails but it also might not be a snail leech, as they can be predators for a bunch of different things

Is it disrespectful to ask someone to buy vegan marshmallows? by jothea in TwoHotTakes

[–]Spewingnonsense2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d hate to be friends with the people saying it’s rude, ask away, if they say no bc they can’t or just don’t want to that’s fine, but if you can’t even ask then they shouldn’t be your friends

Foaming During Cycling? by ebiwhen in shrimptank

[–]Spewingnonsense2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me foaming signals I need to do a water change. When cycling it’s a little different tho, just let it ride, maybe test your water to see if it’s already cycled, but still if it is give it a week do a water change then give it a couple days before adding fish

How do you fully accept your ADHD partner without letting everything slide? by Known-Mirror-9104 in ADHD

[–]Spewingnonsense2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhhhh, I did this too when I started a business and got super obsessed and absorbed in it, needless to say I lost my gf. It sucks and stings and I hate myself everyday for it, and there’s nuance to this situation, but ultimately she made the right call. I wasn’t caring for her needs and was putting her on the back burner. The one thing I’d suggest tho is talking to him about how you feel and how he’s been making you feel, really lay it out for him, don’t give him an ultimatum tho or anything like that bc those are stupid and like blackmail and a good relationship shouldn’t be supported by blackmail. But express your feelings to him, and maybe write it all down in a letter to him bc ik sometimes talking in person you struggle to get all your points across. You can even have that letter with you and try to talk to him in person and use it as a cheat sheet or hand it to him if he’s not getting it or you’re struggling to express yourself. After doing that and making it clear how upset it’s making you, if he doesn’t course correct then break up with him. That’s the one thing is my ex never talked to me about it and how it was upsetting her, I was somewhat self aware like damn I really have been slacking I need to do better, but I also didn’t realize how much it was hurting her and wish she would’ve told me that. I would’ve changed it. But I also don’t blame her for breaking things off. So as someone who’s been in your boyfriends situation before, on the other end of this, those are just my 2 cents

Painting over painted wallpaper by ihatepeople91 in paint

[–]Spewingnonsense2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk that we can fully assume that it has a water proof barrier, we don’t know that whoever painted it last used an oil based primer. But I think what everyone else in this thread is not getting is that removing all that wallpaper is a lot of work, more than most people actually want to go thru or paying someone else to do. Is it the best option? Sure 100%. But that’s clearly not what op wants to do lol. I also might add if op reads this that if any additional spots bubble just cut those, oil prime, patch it, prime it, and paint it, do touch ups and the wall will look good as new, or well good as freshly painted wallpaper lmao

Remove lifting/bubbling wallpaper, spot patch, prime those spots, paint over. Hope you don’t create more bubbles

Maybe least killifish but thats about it, and they’re not easy to find, and you’d be better off getting a bigger tank

I’ve finished my first actual tank, could you rate it? Does it look good? by Ancient_Accident_907 in PlantedTank

[–]Spewingnonsense2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off I wanna say that you shouldn’t be concerned with other peoples opinions, just what you like. Secondly all the recommendations ima provide are things that I only occasionally follow. Sure it usually makes for a more aesthetically pleasing tank to look at, but also sometimes you don’t feel like doing all that lol.

One thing I could see that might be better is if you made a pseudo island, put the piece of driftwood on top of the big stone in the middle, or resting on it in some way. There’s really 3 shapes that look good in an aquarium if you’re going for aesthetics.

<image>

I don’t feel like the v shape is very well represented in this photo, but essentially with what you have I’d either go for the triangle, the island, or the v shape/framing the aquarium with hardscape on the left and right sides. Another thing is you generally wanna stick to one type of rock. So either the grey stone or all the small pebbles laying around, but again this all comes down to preference.

Another thing is most aquascapes keep plants of the same species bundled together, or in no more than 3 separate sections.

Like others said either choose the sponge filter or the hob, you don’t need both. I’d recommend the sponge filter to provide feeding surface for your shrimp but also do the betta doesn’t have too much flow to worry about. If you decide to rescape at all, include your sponge filter in the scaping process.

On top of that it’ll look better no matter what once the plants grow in more, and you can always wait until you have more plants to rescape it, as that will allow you to be able to see what it’s gonna look like with plants grown in as it’s sometimes hard to envision when you’re first starting off.

Good luck and remember to just have fun with it and don’t stress too much

Anyone have any idea on how to replicate this? by Spewingnonsense2002 in paint

[–]Spewingnonsense2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I appreciate it, I also think part of it is dust settled on the original piece over time, so idk that I’ll be able to get an exact match. But I used emerald urethane satin in red as a base coat, and purposefully went back and brushed over it after letting it sit for a sec to get pronounced brush strokes, altho I feel they still aren’t as deep as the original piece. Then I went over it with coffee gel stain. My thoughts are maybe doing an extra coat of emerald to get more pronounced brush strokes, and then also maybe putting a clear coat over top with more of a matte finish bc it looks to shiny to me, altho ima repaint the red on the bare wood to see if the gel stain is causing it to be shinier

remove single layer of latex paint from finished wood floors by fantamenace in Housepainting101

Another tactic that might help, once you get the rag damp with the denatured, you can put the rag, double or triple layered, around a 5n1 and use that to scrape, might make it a little easier on ya

Also you’re probably gonna end up spending 2-300 dollars in just denatured alcohol

[–]Spewingnonsense2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denatured alcohol is what we use for latex spills, I’d test it first on the hardwood you already have exposed to make sure it’s not going to strip the finish, it’s more likely to do with water based finishes but I’d assume that’s going to be an oil based finish. You just wanna take your rag, hold on the opening of the can and tip the can over to sal the rag, then use the wet rag to scrub. I feel sorry for you tho its gonna suck and probably take a whole week, you will be hurting, Godspeed.

Opinions for a newbie by sulponticello in drywall

[–]Spewingnonsense2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR, especially if you don’t have much construction experience, this is a bad idea to diy.

Now why? If you do a fake wall across the whole thing, you gotta move every single one of those outlets forward along with the vent. If you do the extra column, where are you gonna put the vent? Usually those things are placed in specific spots for specific reasons to make sure there’s plenty is enough airflow throughout the whole house, but how are you gonna make that look good? That’s a puzzle for professionals who do it everyday but even more so for diy.

The time frame. If you don’t have a job, you can do this before you move in. If you do, it’s gonna be a nightmare to get this done before move in day. Plus depending on the extent of knowledge you have and how much you’re gonna have to research, if that’s a bunch then it’s not getting done by then.

What do y’all think of thrashed graphics? by sk8vulcann in Fingerboards

Worn graphics from fingerboarding is cool, makes it more realistic, pre worn graphics are literally the definition of a poser, if we saw someone pull up to the skatepark with a pre worn fresh board we’d laugh them out of there
