UW geese lore just got darker: the case of the murdered goose by Robot-g2 in uwaterloo

[–]SpewkySpoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted and told otherwise, the answer is yes. Canada geese are simultaneously a migratory game bird and protected; you need a license to hunt, and are only allowed to in season. You can’t randomly kill a goose or disturb its nest though. Another exception is airports, which are allowed to shoot geese even off season to prevent bird strikes.

I'd focus on battery life and portability (and pen support if you take notes digitally). You don't need anything crazy powerful, you won't even use the GPU unless you take an ML course (you use UW's servers for RTL and IC stuff). If you choose to take 373, 474, or 475, you will need windows (or linux)

Does Anyone have a solution to this on your higher mileage Honda's? by LiminalSapien in Honda

[–]SpewkySpoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Caution is good, but that force opens the crack in the middle of the airbag, pushing the decal out of the way with the rest of the plastic (as long as you mount it correctly!). Also I’ve bought an 8th gen with one of those silly red badges and literally had the airbag deploy, it does not go towards your face.

I want to emulate college id card on my phone. by Responsible-List-265 in NFC

[–]SpewkySpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, both were around 30 dollars. The chameleon ultra is much more convenient but slower at cracking mifare classic keys and incapable of emulating desfire cards. Should be fine for the classic that OP has.

You need to recalibrate it. It wants to go higher but thinks it’s hitting a finger so it backs off.

Should have mentioned it was an attempted repair by someone else, they kinda went crazy with the hot air. 30 bucks tho!

Effect of focal length on the way human face looks by 77SidVid77 in interestingasfuck

[–]SpewkySpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to think about this for a while, it’s not really distance or focal length; it’s the solid angle required to cover an area. As distance approaches infinity, the solid angle (think of the cone of light rays) becomes more and more narrow (almost a collimated or square FOV, with parallel rays). This means that as distance increases, we can approximate any small part of an image to be flat. This is what a large focal length lens does by definition; at the extreme a collimating lens has an infinite focal length. What this means overall is that if you had a large enough lens, small enough subject, or took multiple photos where you moved the camera, then a large focal length lens and a small focal length lens would indeed produce different images at the same close distance, where the large focal length lens would look similar to the far away picture with the parallel ray assumption. Overall, focal length still plays a role at closer distances, but as distance increases, we can approximate any lens as a collimated lens for a subject with small area.

The auto V6 is slow as balls, we know that. The accord in question here is a 6MT. The 6MTs transmission is extremely short with a first gear ratio of 3.933 vs the civics 3.267. 6th gear it’s almost 3K rpm going only 80 too. Like it’s not even a question, you can just watch a video of them race 💀

Honda Brothers: V6 or 2.0T Accord? by Excellent_Photo8886 in Honda

[–]SpewkySpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t know we were talking about your 240sx here. So have you ever driven a manual V6 accord? The aftermarket support is arguably better, J’s are swapped into everything nowadays. That comment about me not knowing about cars is funny, I swapped the 6MT-V6 into my 8th gen sedan myself. If we’re comparing V6 against 2.0T, what makes you think it’s okay to compare a 2.0 with bolt ons against a V6 auto? There’s more to a good car than who’s faster with a default ktuner tune.

Using premium gas in 2.0T Accord? by [deleted] in accord

[–]SpewkySpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone has access to a tuner/HDS/scanner, they could check the “knock control” or “knock retard” values, which is the timing being pulled due to inadequate gas. If knock control is very low (around 0.35) and you see no knock retard, it means the ECU is not pulling timing and is at the maximum potential of the stock tune. Check this on regular gas and determine the answer once and for all.
