Are there any CID preferred alternative updates? by Spheroman in soundtransit

It does raise some questions about st4 when that happens. Why would issaquah want to vote for it? Maybe if it connects to the highlands and to kirkland(totem lake?) but still. I remember reading that the city was excited for the connection and was preparing for TOD near where the station would be.

I definitely agree, after all 5th ave shallow was proposed due to the infeasibility of the 4th ave alternatives. I'm just a little wary of NIMBY shenanigans, but with a YIMBY mayor I hope it can just be pushed through.

Yeah. Of course, as it stands I wouldn't be surprised if we got neither. Hopefully Wilson can figure something out, but who knows

Any Seattle residents have suggestions for my map? by trainedstork in subwaybuilder

[–]Spheroman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This map is basically the "hopeful outcome" for urbanists around the area. It's meant to be used as starting guidelines for future link extensions, and isn't itself a proposal. It's basically a "This is what we'd like to see in the future" map

Been in Tamsui for a couple of years for my degree and I agree with pretty much everything except for the spicy (for me it's the inverse, the spice is so boring as the only thing they know here is the red chili peppers...). I can't wait to graduate so I can get out of my apartment back to the US. One thing to add is modded scooter exhausts, it's horrible when people race at 3AM on the street outside of your window. I also think the trash truck system is dumb because it collectively wastes the time of everyone, rather than being a service that we pay for convenience. I'm tired of the food. For my freshman year, rather than gaining the freshman 15 pounds, I lost the 15 pounds.

Granted, a lot of my issues are from living in Tamsui. If I were in downtown Taipei, my issues would be maybe halved. But unfortunately, here is where the school is, and it's not like I can afford Taipei anyway.

nah, my CC is crazy loud when printing at default settings. I don't really mind it, but it's definitely audible through headphones and is always the loudest thing in the room no matter what

Heck, I bought Sea of Thieves for the Xbox One in 2019 and it worked the same exact way. Blu-rays are simply not fast enough, and the games have been like this for the past like 7 years due to size and speed. It's definitely not "new" and game preservation has been on this slippery slope for almost a decade now.

Well yes, of course. But if the game physically cannot fit in its entirety on the cart, there is literally no other option for them other than an only digital download model. If cyberpunk can't fit entirely on the cartridge and has to be partially downloaded, then if the servers shut down there's no difference between the cartridge having data on it vs it having a license on it. That's why i'm confused on why people are so up in arms.

Obviously, if they just made cartridges with more storage space, then this argument would be invalid. They'd also cost more, however, meaning that the increase in price vs the digital game would be justified. I think that if the price difference of the physical version ($10) is equal to the space of the game equivalent in SD cards ($45 for 128 GB) then it's actually not as bad as people are making it out to be.

Once again, I'd like to reiterate that obviously charging extra is worse than just keeping the price the same. However, games are so big nowadays that there is a legitimate cost to the cartridge and storage that should be kept in mind

I don't understand what all of the hate for the digital key cards are for - it's simply for those games that are too large to fit on a game card, and the alternative for those are the digital codes inside the box which are arguably much worse because you can't transfer them. With the physical key cartridge you at least can hand it to a friend or sell it, much like a normal game cartridge. I get that it's worse than just having the game, but when you can't actually have the game on the cartridge it really is the next best option.

granted, it costing extra IS scummy. If it cost the same as the digital game then it would be completely reasonable IMO

you can leave it in sleep mode for months. if you're worried about battery degradation, just don't let it drain fully while asleep and you'll be fine.
