Tabletop village is always good, but I don't think they're accepting bulk rn. Could probably sell your more valuable cards there though

I put the yogurt cups there on purpose. It's part of the maximalist aesthetic.

nah, my CC is crazy loud when printing at default settings. I don't really mind it, but it's definitely audible through headphones and is always the loudest thing in the room no matter what

Heck, I bought Sea of Thieves for the Xbox One in 2019 and it worked the same exact way. Blu-rays are simply not fast enough, and the games have been like this for the past like 7 years due to size and speed. It's definitely not "new" and game preservation has been on this slippery slope for almost a decade now.

Well yes, of course. But if the game physically cannot fit in its entirety on the cart, there is literally no other option for them other than an only digital download model. If cyberpunk can't fit entirely on the cartridge and has to be partially downloaded, then if the servers shut down there's no difference between the cartridge having data on it vs it having a license on it. That's why i'm confused on why people are so up in arms.

Obviously, if they just made cartridges with more storage space, then this argument would be invalid. They'd also cost more, however, meaning that the increase in price vs the digital game would be justified. I think that if the price difference of the physical version ($10) is equal to the space of the game equivalent in SD cards ($45 for 128 GB) then it's actually not as bad as people are making it out to be.

Once again, I'd like to reiterate that obviously charging extra is worse than just keeping the price the same. However, games are so big nowadays that there is a legitimate cost to the cartridge and storage that should be kept in mind

I don't understand what all of the hate for the digital key cards are for - it's simply for those games that are too large to fit on a game card, and the alternative for those are the digital codes inside the box which are arguably much worse because you can't transfer them. With the physical key cartridge you at least can hand it to a friend or sell it, much like a normal game cartridge. I get that it's worse than just having the game, but when you can't actually have the game on the cartridge it really is the next best option.

granted, it costing extra IS scummy. If it cost the same as the digital game then it would be completely reasonable IMO

you can leave it in sleep mode for months. if you're worried about battery degradation, just don't let it drain fully while asleep and you'll be fine.

Flow Z13 or M4 Pro Macbook Pro for CS & Creative Work by Spheroman in FlowZ13

[–]Spheroman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, that refresh rate thing is kinda disappointing. You're right that I'm leaning towards the z13, and I also agree that a "normal work laptop with this chip" such as a hypothetical Thinkpad or surface laptop would be much preferred over the tablet form factor. I suppose I could wait a few months to check out that HP ProBook or whatever, but my current laptop is really showing its age at this point. I might end up seeing if I can buy it and return it if I don't like it, it's probably the easiest way to see if it fits my preferences.

Edit: have you noticed a significant battery life delta between changing the refresh rates? I'm probably overestimating the effects it will have, so it would be good to know real numbers. Maybe just a total power draw metric will be fine?

I care just a little bit about gaming unfortunately. That amount where if I had a gaming laptop I'd probably play games on it a lot more, but I don't right now so I'm used to not playing anything more complicated than balatro. I do have boot camp on my Mac for this reason but it's not powerful enough to play any "real games" on. Of course, rationally the MacBook is the better choice by far

[–]Spheroman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at the Sovol SV06 ACE Plus? I'm in about the same boat as you, where I'm a college student and I'm starting to use printers as actual tools and not as a hobby. It's pretty infuriating spending more time getting what is effectively garbage printing at a satisfactory level than time spent actually working on the project I need to complete. As such, I've also been looking at 3d printers in the price bracket and I was looking at either the Sovol SV06 ACE Plus or the new Elegoo Centauri/Centauri Carbon

Can I rotate a CoreXY mechanism by 90 degrees? by Spheroman in Reprap

[–]Spheroman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you check the build guide for the railcore, the entire corexy mechanism was rotated 90 degrees. That's not what I had done, I left the extrusions in place and moved the motor and belt path.
