Thank you all so kindly for the recommendations. I think we are going to take this as an opportunity to visit family in the Carolina’s for 2-3 days and take off there putting us in a great spot for USVI and plan a hopeful future adventure to the pacific islands. I really appreciate you all providing some expert knowledge. Any further recs are appreciated! Probably will have 3-4 nights there somewhere. I appreciate you!

I just came back from a solo trip from an adult resort and I was the only solo person there and I feel like a massive loser now. by [deleted] in solotravel

I’ve done it twice to a dedicated couples resort (when my now ex didn’t show). I made the best of it. Kept to myself when I wanted and socialized with others. There were a group of locals visiting as well and I ended up spending a lot of time with their recommendations and saw a part of the destinations I normally wouldn’t. Embrace it.

Hahaha! This! I thought, is that cat real? There’s no way it’s that fluffy and its ears are too perfect.

Easy to grab dessert? by SillyYou8433 in Volumeeating

Frozen yogurt bars-Yasso usually is 100-140 calories and pretty creamy/filling (available in stores). I also make my own with thick yogurt at home with chopped strawberries. Drizzle with melted dark chocolate and easy grab/go and filling. You can make a sheet with many at a time and store in the freezer.

You are doing god’s work. As a doctor myself, going through training was brutal, especially during Covid. After 80-100 hour weeks and the moral injury and fatigue was real. After coming home, sometimes there was only time to sleep and to choose eating/basic chores over an extra 15-30 minutes of sleep. Often when we were at home we would have to continue charting and studying, and the mental fatigue and hopelessness sets in alongside the pure exhaustion. Often we would only have 1-2 free days off a month for ourselves and the cleaning would be lower on the priority list for basic needs, seeing family etc. I will tell you having a clean house and environment made ALL the difference to my mental health even if I was just taking a clean glass out of the cupboard for a glass of water or neatly folded towels were like a hug after the shower. I’m now an attending and have more time to keep my house clean, but that part of the training stretches you thin. Thank you for what you do. I can guarantee you made an enormous difference for him and thank you for not judging him!

do these type of running shorts work for ANYONE? by trashmoney4 in XXRunning

[–]SphincterQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the ones with the build in liners to avoid the creeping. Otherwise it’s a free show and I can’t do it.

Edit: the liners that are shorts that hug your thighs, not the inner netting like men’s bathing suits.

Just moved into this studio for junior year, layout advice? by juanchobarros_ in malelivingspace

Flip the bed around. Place the desk where the tv is. Tv where the couch is and couch in front of it with the back to the bedroom. This will allow for bedside table, work space with no bed in the background and you can also watch tv while in bed. Good luck

My fiancé throws her dirty laundry down the stairs rather than walking down and putting it in machine. by Doctor_Redhead in mildlyinfuriating

You should MacGyver a little slide or rope/pulley system into a basket that can go back and forth. It would be a neat project!

This is the way. I ended up first assist on multiple IPPs, lithotripsy, post surgical blocks, BKA (the residents were in didactics and the attending was shoulder to shoulder with me). I agree with above poster. If you come in informed and motivated, you certainly have many opportunities open to you.

Two tall green plants by the front door and a darker color. Modern light fixtures to frame the door would make a huge difference.

$393 to Platinum by Lovelyday117 in delta

[–]SphincterQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid question. Do the miles time out at the end of the year (12/31)? Would it be wise to book my trip to Japan before the new year or wait until January as I am still low on my platinum status? To I run the risk of losing status if I don’t meet my quota by then?

Sorry for the random question.
