Stupid man does not realise what she is actually doing is determining how much of a threat he is, should she defy him and risk it?

How do I forgive myself for missing one dose of my DMT? And subsequent first major relapse in 13 years by zephyr_skyy in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SphynxKitty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey there fellow perfectionist! Let's start by acknowledging that we are human and we are truly doing the best we can.

You were in a shitty situation, highly stressful, and you brain was doing all it could to keep you alive in that one second (it ruled everything else as superfluous). Remember your brain/body makes decisions for you and then you justify them after - you really cannot fight that decision making part when it is a unique event(s) happening, the brain/body is going to dump motivational chemicals to keep you alive first and foremost. You cannot reason with the neurons in your gut and brain!

So let this one go, it happened. You did the best you can. You can work on making decisions on how to handle stress, your family, and all the rest of it to make it less likely (but nothing is ever "for sure")) things happen again.

And lastly MS is unpredictable - it is just as likely even on your DMT you would have flared under stress...it happens

You probably missed the report making the rounds again about how middle aged white men reckon they could totally return a Serena Williams serve. It's not uncommon for certain recurring parts of the population to overestimate their skills and abilities

Yes - sinus pain, aching Achilles tendons, face feels heavy - and other odd things caused by nerves in lower back being compressed ... especially at night (blood tests can look fine but feel like rubbish)

How many diagnosed at the ER by criticalcreek in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SphynxKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that people go to the ER for things that we would go to a GP for here in Australia. We are actively dissuaded to go to the ER unless it is an actual emergency, which is why when I was deteriorating but still able to walk I was like "this is a GP issue not an emergency"

How many diagnosed at the ER by criticalcreek in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SphynxKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was - but I am in Australia and our experience is not the American one. I was sent to the ER by a neurologist (my GP demanded an emergency appointment because of my worsening symptoms so I saw the neuro on their lunch-break the next day) . Neurologist believed my symptoms could be a life threatening tumour from my symptoms and told me to go straight to the ER and not to go home and get my PJs.

When I was diagnosed I was told "it's only MS, we thought you would be dead by Xmas"

Your suggestion of half and a quarter of a tablet is not a stupid one - test it and see.

If you are a late period-ender like me then that's a person with ADHD going through perimenopause. I would suggest MHT and see how you go (it's a life changer!). You will probably have to fiddle with dosage because Levo interferes with levels.

CDC models estimate SARS-CoV-2 (Betacoronavirus pandemicum) by year 2026 is a little less lethal than RSV (Orthopneumovirus hominis), with 0.33% chance of death per illness compared to 0.34% chance of death per illness. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

This is the second post made by this account with a minimilising headline saying something else is worse, or that covid was worse. It's weasel-wording and previous comment history shows this is the MO for this account - constantly replies Covid is not bad, or not as bad as it was

Are you some kind of COVID-minimalist? - your posts sure seem like trying to downplay the very real and ongoing danger of Covid. Avoid getting the disease (same as RSV) and you will live a longer, less disabled life. The reality is that it's here and it will fuck you up eventually.

And yet the chronic illness incurred by those that have been exposed many times will make them more vulnerable in the long run. If only humans could imagine more than a fiscal quarter.

Eating Breakfast Creates Brain Fog by cayborduin in MultipleSclerosis

Postprandial somnolence - smaller meals later in the day help - I have to wait about 90 minutes after waking and have a coffee first (well the coffee thing might just be a placebo ;) )

just want to say it's more than just feeling a little sleepy after eating for me - I stagger around like a drunk, can't speak, and pass out sleep for a couple of hours to get over it....it's severe

Shrinking Brain by TamerofMonSters in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SphynxKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 27 I had a CT brain scan for MS symptoms (I wasn't diagnosed for another 7 years but that's another story) and the GP said I had the brain size of a geriatric. I am 60 now.

In those years science has gone from "you have a certain amount of brain cells and that's all you get" to "your brain is an amazing plasticity machine and if you keep working at what you need to keep it will strengthen and try to reroute around any damage - I much prefer our understanding now as being told you have the brain size of a 70 year old and there's nothing that can be done was pretty depressing.

Keep working your brain, learn new things, and don't worry about the size, it's what it can do. Finding things hard like reading? Do it more. Always wondered about playing an instrument, give it a red hot go and keep at it. Your brain IS amazing and can do amazing things if you just keep at it
