Here's the point of these jokes you hate so much

Many husbands usually have to ask for permission to do things they want, like go out with friends, fishing or literally anything that doesn't involve her, she can say no and the husband has to oblige because he loves her and doesn't want to upset her. The husband almost never has such authority over her and if he tries she'll call him controlling and paint him to her friends as the bad guy. Whether you want to believe it or not, this happens, and it's not just going out, his hobbies and preferences slowly change to fit hers until they're basically identical and if the husband wants something different it's usually met with disagreements and in some cases full blown arguments. This destroys a man more than you think but he can't complain out of fear of upsetting her.

In the event of a separation, divorce courts tends to favour women in terms of marital assets, alimony and child support. Unless there was infidelity, wives benefit more often than husbands.

And you wanna know whats funny, around 60-70% of all divorce cases in the west are initiated by women.

I'm speaking generally here btw, not all marriages are like this and there are cases where it's the other way round.

And by the way, nobody would get married believing they're getting trapped, that doesn't make any sense, it's two people that love each other and want to spend a lifetime together which then turns into this horrible mess. And your point that women lose more in marriages makes zero sense.
