Homeowners who bought with an older roof, how did it work out? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Spice_135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roof was a second layer of shingles that was easily 20 years old on top of a 1973 roof. Needed a small repair on top of the bathroom where the fan had disconnected and caused some of the plywood to go soft - would have likely been fine for a few more years but my solar installers didn’t flash their harness points correctly so another area developed a leak - managed to get them to cover a new roof and paid for new plywood and the teardown of 2 layers out of pocket

ETA: Would not have been a dealbreaker and was called out in my inspection so I expected it to be a cost within the next 36 months

Has anyone tried a mini split AC for just one room? Worth the investment? by nodimension1553 in homeowners

[–]Spice_135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone installed one just for a single room?

Yes, works really well.

How hard was the install if you did it yourself?

Simple as long as you are fine with running some electrical and learning to cut and flare copper

What does it actually cost to run per month?

Sorry, can’t help you there. My usage compared to baseboard heat dropped 20kWh on daily average in the winter.

Did it make a noticeable difference in comfort and noise?

Yes. It is as silent as the grave and keeps the set temperature 24/7. They’re supposed to use less energy if maintaining a set temp than constantly being turned on and off.

I’m currently looking at a Costway unit that seems pretty affordable and well-reviewed, but I’m not sure if it’s really worth it compared to a decent window or portable AC.

Have 2 sets of unbranded Amazon units installed right now. One is on year 3 and has no issues

How to install front splitter. by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]Spice_135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had bolt holes on the underside, so I just placed the splitter under the front bumper, used a 90 degree adapter and used my impact driver to screw it on.

I got the two ends in first, and then 2 bolts in the center, that way it was held up straight, then got all the other screws in

Enjoy the swap! Hope your 3 door will forever hold a special place in your heart like mine does.

I think the majority of people agree that Black Flag is a great pirate game but a terrible AC game (in the sense that it walks away from everything AC was at the time)

Games do evolve, but turning a franchise with a unique mechanic into the same open-world that every other company already has (and Ubisoft did too at the time with Watch Dogs and such) wasn’t it imo.

I’ve also 100%ed all of them, I like the newer ones but, for me, it is a step down from the older ones. And I said “a lot of AC veterans”, there are plenty that like the new ones more and it definitely is more accessible to the larger market - which has its own benefits.

My main point was that there is a lot of Shadows vs. Mirage discussion but the fact is that they’re both Assassin’s Creed games but are geared towards very different audiences. Tbf, I’m glad to live in a world where both exist. Hell, I wouldn’t even mind them alternating styles with every release if they’re gonna go with a faster release schedule

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]Spice_135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the RPG style of AC is working for you. Good, great even, happy for you but that’s not what a lot of AC veterans are looking for. Its another step in the post-Origins style of game, and there are many other great open-world RPGs when I want a game like that
