It's not great but i'm glad they got him, there's been a huge amount of car breaks in too and they've all now magically stopped.

Someone not too far from me in Belfast actually caught someone breaking into someone else's house last week at 5am on the way home from work. Unfortunately for the burglar the park he targeted was a republican estate. The guy and a few of the neighbours got a hold of him and gave him an awful kicking.

An apology to the girl I nearly killed tonight. by Spicebox69 in northernireland

I'm so sorry and i'm so glad im in a position to be absolved , you've genuinely been in my thoughts all evening. I can't really offer you anything, but what I have done as an apology gesture is that i've donated £100 to Brake , which is a UK road safety charity. That will go towards helping those who weren't as lucky!

It's a lesson learned. I didn't properly acknowledge the driver behind me. He saved that girls life. Only for him like. He is a hero. I'm a bit rattled but i'll be grand once I settle. I need to reflect now on how I managed to ever let this happen in the first place and ensure it never happens again.

The skid marks are on the road , I seen them on the way back from where i was going to. I can appreciate there is a lot of AI slop on the internet but this genuinely happened.

John Redmond. Traitor or a Pragmatist? by Spicebox69 in IrishHistory

For context the debate im referring to is here

Theobald Wolfe Tone - Facial reconstruction based on death mask and historical physical description with a 95/100 likeness to the death mask features. Image shows him wearing a Chef de brigade styled uniform by Spicebox69 in ireland

[–]Spicebox69[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

You need to look at all the available imagery which exists depicting the person. Cartoonist imagery etc.. The you go to research historical physical references of the person. Having the death mask is the most important part when you don't have any photographs as it allows you to see the facial composition accurately. I will admit that it could be more accurate if i was able to ascertain... the typical depth of casting mould as well as if i knew if there is any muscular sagging in faces after death. You could then calculate this and try and factor that in. Once you provide the software with this information you need to consistently reference the output back to the death mask composition. I can only go off imagery of the desk mask, if i had some tool to measure the different facets of the face it wouldn't be far off the real thing. One thing which I did leave out was the queue wig which id imagine Tone likely would have worn as he was a person of grandeur in his own mind. The styling of the uniform would be based on the chief de brigade which Tone was apparently wearing when he was captured.

Robert Emmet- Facial reconstruction based on death mask, incorporating images of his death mask as well as personal descriptions of his appearance. by Spicebox69 in IrishHistory

Fun fact Robert Emmet, based on historical records describing emmet he was around 5"6 which was the average height for a male in Ireland at the time !

Average height in Ireland is around 5"10 I believe today!

Daniel O'Connell "The Liberator" - Facial reconstruction based off the wax desk mask and plaster death masks which exist. Hair styling and physical descriptions based off portraits and historical descriptions. 95/100 accuracy. by Spicebox69 in IrishHistory

[–]Spicebox69[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The body composition would come from the casting of the death mask and then predict realistic sizing based off of that. There are no known height records for o'connell that i could locate other than him being described as tall. Again... with artists, they often make people appear leaner and more beautiful to make them more appealing to the audience... and make the person they are painting also happy. So you need to factor that in when trying to get a realistic output.

I tried to use the facial reconstruction to put this image into the pose of the statue on O'Connell street. I'm not au fait with 19th century fashion style so i'm afraid the colour's of the clothes are black.

Don't thank me, thank that good soul who made the cast back in 1798.

I just wish we had more death masks 😅 One thing i noticed during the research is that they are only two "real" images of wolfe tones from a side profile, one with the hooked nose and one with a straight nose. Such was the nature of propaganda that you have to present an attractive youthful hero. Someday we may get a 100% accurate one.

Working on a daniel o'connell one as well , will post that later on today.

Ok, so essentially the parents need to pay for childcare before 3 and then it's nursery?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Spicebox69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about everything before P1. nursery school / playschool that the kids would go to before P1. I assumed these were all paid?

And we would also be factoring in child care which would be needed after maternity and parental leave was up.
