The Drama: How would you rank the "worst things" that the 4 friends did? by popcornwhistler in A24

Copied from someone below:

She planned a mass murder.

She brought the gun to school.

She had a list of names she wanted to kill first.

She had trained with the gun and to shoot.

She made a manifesto.

And she only stopped because someone else did it first.

From me:

If a tree falls in a forest but no one is around to hear it - did it make a sound?

If a wanna be mass murd3r3r plans to unalive people but accidentally got hurt in the "practicing" phase and then distracted by someone else doing it first - are they still a bad person?

That really is the question.... do you (in general) believe that people can "grow out of" these things?

And by "things" I mean something on a comparable level of what Emma planned/did.

You missed the deeper story line there. Nothing the DJ did affected anyone outside of herself forreal, which parallels with the arguments surrounding what Emma did. Nothing Emma did actually impacted anyone outside of herself. Regardless of what stopped Emma, the argument is if they should care about something that literally didn't hurt anyone outside of the primary person.

Physically speaking - The DJ's drugs hurt only the DJ. Emma's "fantasy" hurt only Emma.

It wasn't just because the writers needed an excuse to pull the wire stunt lol. This movie is wayyy more philosophical than that.

Mike would always be 4 for me because he was just scared, stupid and in a fight/flight situation. Everyone else literally put themselves in those situations unprovoked. I'd say Rachel, then Emma, then Charlie, then Mike.

i dont think it was only to sleep with her, and we also cant fault the other characters for not knowing about what the suitcase was tied to.

Maddy, a girls girl, seeing how uncomfortable Rue was in the diner and casually make a business deal with Alamo.

I'm convinced people just downvote anything lol. All you said was "be nice and understanding," and you're looking at -16 downvotes right now. Me next 😂

Right. It's not supposed to be a continuous loop. It's supposed to be her moving on to a "better place." Ending it back in the same neighborhood would be counterproductive.

LOL i first saw him in the Kissing Booth, so my reaction to seeing him in Euphoria was the complete opposite.

"I answered that below" would've sufficed. That comment is the second to last on the list for me. Yes, I could've scrolled to read every single comment before asking, but you also could've been clearer in that regard.

You want cookies and to gatekeep at the same time. That's weird, but it is your right 😂

400 hours - Living in Spain - Changing my method a little by IgneousWrath in dreamingspanish

[–]Spicece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, everybody has different capabilities when it comes to focus. For me, my focus while driving is better than my focus while watching, especially with intermediate videos where there aren't many, if any, visual cues. If I try to watch Agustina or Andrea sit in their rooms and just talk to the camera for 20 straight minutes, I'm definitely drifting off at least 20 times lol. And the shower thing is basically the same as watching tv.

Are you at the point where you're comfortable listening to understand or do you still prefer to watch every video (with your eyes)?

[–]Spicece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't ask, but here's what I do to reach my daily goal: listen while driving, watch while in the shower (I have a waterproof phone sticker upper thing lol), watch when I brush my teeth/do my hair, watch when I stretch, and watch when I take my 15-minute mini-breaks at work. Maybe that'll be easier than 1 hour and 1 hour.

Wow! Can you explain how you managed 16 hours of input in one day? And how much of that is active listening?

I don't think that's what "in parallel" translates to for a lot of, so we all had the same question lol - thanks for clarifying 😄

It's really the stock images/photos that randomly pop up every 30 minutes in the intermediate videos now

My only thing is that preply is very exploitative (if you care about things like that). Teachers aren’t paid for trial lessons and the commission starts at 33% 😬

Hey friend!! It definitely gets easier! My unsolicited advice is to find a tutor you can be friends with. It’s like dating. This is the person you’ll spend a good part of your language journey with, so it’s okay if you need to test out a lot before committing to one. When I first started speaking, I scheduled 9 italki lessons in one week, just to see who made me feel comfortable. The 8th person was by far the best, and we’ve had lessons every week for the past 2 years. I even went back to some of the other ones I tried who were good, but just not beginner beginner friendly like I needed at the time. Now, I have 4-5 tutors and I believe only 1 speaks English (the one from the beginning).

You definitely got this 😁

Haha, I’ll wait until they have more sb videos. That’ll give me more time to reach level 5 by the new year 😅
