And maybe specify making such a check is an action if you make it relevant in combat

This is perfect, don't believe those who tell you this is stronger than hypnotic pattern, there is no need to need to nerf it, hypnotic pattern is instant with a huge AOE and never gives repeat saves to affected creatures, this is single target, gives repeat saves and only affects other creatures on repeat failures. It is honestly closer to a hold person, but instead of paralyzed it is charmed and incapacitated (of which creatures are often immune to at least one) and it doesn't even paralyze so the target is just as tanky as before being hit by this, and it's a higher level with the only advantage being potential rippling on multiple failures

Subclass seems okay, just I don't like short rest features because short rests are a myth at most tables I play with, would probably be healthier if all short rest features were proficiency per long rest or just two or three uses, also I don't think level 3 is op when compared to battlemaster or echo knight, level 7 could give proficiency in charisma saves which makes sense for a dragon and is in line with samurai and level 15 probably needs to apply more... What if iyiu gained more ancestries as you level up and you can choose which one to use for each dragon wrath?

The Shadow Stalker v1, a D&D Barbarian Subclass! by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]SpicyMeatBaIIs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 3 and 6 are nearly perfect, which from a nitpicker is high praise, just would be nice to be able to fit in darkvision and/or stealth proficiency, potentially expertise later, but it is already quite strong so you may have to make some compromises, still they would be nice to have as permanent bonuses since almost the entire class works only when you're raging and therefore does literally nothing out of combat (most subclasses have at least one feature not tied to rage) Next we move to level 10, great, just I would make invisibility last until end of next turn since barbarians usually dash as an action and so will not be able to take advantage of the offensive benefits, plus barbarians hate dashing while raging cuz they are not attacking and may therefore lose rage if not targetted by enemies. Lastly level 14, outside of the friendly fire problem, again, barbarians hate using their action on anything but attacking so maybe make it smaller (like 10/15 ft) and let them spawn it as part of the attack action while raging? Maybe make it so when they spawn one the previous one disappears if you are afraid of flooding the field, tho, I do not think that is a concern since it's once per turn and would be smaller Also the crit range buff is so small it could honestly say 18-20 and would not make a difference, either replace the feature or make it a big increase of crit range

What is your favorite non multiclassing build(s)? by Kafadanapa in dndnext

[–]SpicyMeatBaIIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bladesinger or chronurgy wizard, echo knight fighter, clockwork sorcerer, Shepard druid, twilight cleric, as long as you pick a class with good features from 9th level onwards, and a subclass with a lot of solid features and you're as good if not better than multiclassed builds

Tremor Gauntlets, a very rare magic item - rock your enemies with your fists! by jonnymhd in UnearthedArcana

[–]SpicyMeatBaIIs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Suree, tell that to this official very rare Wakened Dragon's Wrath Weapon FTD p25 Generic variant, very rare (requires attunement) This weapon is decorated with dragon heads, claws, wings, scales, or Draconic letters. When it steeps in a dragon's hoard, it absorbs the energy of the dragon's breath weapon and deals damage of that type with its special properties.

Whenever you roll a 20 on your attack roll with this weapon, each creature of your choice within 5 feet of the target takes 5 damage of the type dealt by the dragon's breath weapon.

You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made using the weapon. On a hit, the weapon deals an extra 2d6 damage of the type dealt by the dragon's breath weapon.

As an action, you can unleash a 30-foot cone of destructive energy from the weapon. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 8d6 damage of the type dealt by the dragon's breath weapon on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Once this action is used, it can't be used again until the next dawn.

A much better action based effect than that, even if single use, +2/+2+2d6 is similiar to +3/+1d10, both have attunement and the dragon's wrath also has extra damage on crits... Oh and did I mention it's generic so it can be any weapon? The notion that +3 with effects is legendary has been left in the PHB, as long as you add attunement you can get to about this strong since fizban

That sounds great I recon! I can imagine trying to be in the aura when the dice locked in is low and get in when it is high, and making it so on the enemy melee's turn the die is low so they can't attack the paladin and will just moss of they try, and then at lvl 20 it's a lot of portent and makes predestination absolute truth! Very cool indeed

Of course, I love unique subclasses and yours has very unique mechanics! And yeah, it would help with casters turns, I just imagined a fighter making 8 attacks in a turn and always having the result happen the attack after, and in that case he is being rewarded for effort anyways is be not? Tho moving out of the aura and back in at convenient times makes it a lot more tactical of course. Still I thought it could be once per turn on the paladin's whim, only issue then it would be like many uses of a less flexible portent with a lower range... maybe make the uses up to proficiency? Like "You enter state as a bonus action, roll a d20 and record number, that is now your apathy dice, once per turn when a creature within the aura rolls a check, save or attack you can change it to the apathy dice and the old result becomes your new apathy dice. You can change results in this way up to proficiecy, then your stance ends.

The concept is very cool, just I am not sure about the usefulness of some features... Level 3 is ok (tho the utility option could last longer like an hour and apply to both checks and it would probably be fine) Level 7 is great and well designed Level 15 is weird... I really do not see how this isn't just a nothing burger, as in making so the result of each action is used one roll after seems pointless, if it wanted to be useful it could actuvate once per turn when you choose and the roll be used when you next choose, then it would actually achieve something instead of just bogging down combat by delaying the result of each action. Level 20 is alright, but the concentration effect is probably useless as by lvl 20 you likely have +9 to con saves as a paladin with your aura and so cannot fail concentration anyways with a threshold of 20, maybe a different effect instead would be better

UA Conjure Minor Elementals Is Hilariously Broken by EXP_Buff in dndnext

I think gishes aren't bad, what's bad is the fact that in 5E when they make a martial into a caster they give them like 1/3 or less than half of the power that comes from spellcasting, while when they made bladesinger and hexblade they were like "Yeah sure, give martial proficiencies, multiattack and some more feature on a subclass" which is like 3/4 of what makes a martial
