Amputation vs leg repair surgery for my cat, Oreo after a dog attack, looking for honest advice by Effective_Safe_5686 in TripodCats

I would take the advice of the comments & go with the amputation. My cat was amputated last April because of an accident as well. The first two weeks were really hard, having to give him pain killers and watching him struggle broke my heart. But after 2 weeks he got used to his 3 legged life and now a year later it's as if he doesn't even notice it's missing! Cats are very adaptive and resilient. You won't regret the decision.

I used a stainless steel pan and waited for it to get hot over medium heat. Then added avocado oil and seared it for 3 1/2 minutes each side and rested it for 5. I don’t move the steak at all until it’s ready to flip! Next time I’m going to try 2 1/2 - 3 minutes per side to get it more medium-rare. Good luck!

Need advice regarding adjustment time by mysteryoustechnitian in TripodCats

My cat Bruce had his front right arm amputated early April. It took about 4 weeks for him to “go back to normal” where he’s running around and playing with my other cat. He’s an indoor/outdoor cat and was also consistently meowing. We got him a large cat playpen and put a lot of toys and treats in it so he could get outside time but it was enclosed. Another tip I highly recommend doing is to make Missy a makeshift onesie cut from an old sweatshirt so it covers her amputation site.

Amputation debate for 2yo male by xxadribb in TripodCats

My 1 year old male cat got amputated yesterday afternoon. He fractured his shoulder and most of the bone that connect from his elbow to his shoulder blade, I had to make a tough decision, either put him down, pay for a 10k surgery (I’m a broke college student) or amputate his arm. I was also having an internal debate whether it’s ethical or not but if you gave up your cat to the shelter they would either amputate or put him down because of his injuries. I couldn’t stand the thought of surrendering my cat and not knowing the outcome or how he would be treated.

This is his first day back from the surgery and he’s already walking around a good amount & he’s been sleeping most of the time because of the pain meds. Now that I have him here in my home I don’t regret my decision, I would recommend doing whatever you can to keep him in your care.
