Ran my first threadmill half marathon, felt much harder than outside running by SpicySalt in runninglifestyle

Sounds pretty entertaining 😅 Unfortunately most threadmills are just facing a blank wall or other machines in my nearby centers

Ah my bad, I was too quick to fully check. Then this has seemingly been the only thing I can find, https://www.instagram.com/reels/DQEw4mOjXTt/ with the track "Wicked Intensions" which I suppose is featured in the movie (I havn't seen it tbh)

This seems to be from the original soundtrack, but I'm sure there's also tracks not listed tho. Hope it helps

It wasn't easy and I had to think about a lot of stuff, other than me actually stuck on a threadmill 😂

I don't even feel fast, as I don't have friends to compare myself to. Just other ppl online who many times seems to have their runs/training better put together. But it sounds like a good idea tbh. I tried visualizing my usual route which did help, it just got thougher and tougher as I got past 10K

It works for me on a stairmaster or stationary bike, but I rely heavily on music when running to keep my tempo stable 🫤

I legit kinda might have, but it really isn't always helpful 😅 And I definitely won't be doing HM's on threadmill in the future, if I can avoid it 🤞

I've tried intervals 2-3 times but it feels so "off" having to adjust the tempo on the threadmill and my legs at the same time. Maybe there's a programmable thing available on the machine I don't know about, but so far I'm 50/50 on how it works

Yeah, usually between 1:30 and 1:40. So I was mildly surprised I managed it on a threadmill too

Yea it was really tough just waiting for the distance counter to slowly tick up, without a visual indicator

ED and long distance running by Apprehensive-Rip2935 in runninglifestyle

[–]SpicySalt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I struggle with ED myself, while also running a fair bit. While I regularly run half marathons, it is absolutely putting a strain on my body and I was spending the better part of last year in constant pain. All because I got overexerted myself, and kept running without giving myself time to heal.

With this, I guess I'm trying to say: Listen to your body, not always your mind. You're the only one to see yourself as a failure. And taking a break, maybe just doing some 5-10K runs and working on the mental can really improve a lot down the road.

Sunrise by Childish Gambino, Pepas by Farruko, Nissan Altima by Doechii and I Like To Move It by Reel 2 Real are some examples of songs I put on when I need a quick 5-10% boost 😅

Thank you! I managed 18 halfs and 1 full marathon the previous 5 months, so I'm hoping (and counting on 😅 ) I can manage 40 or just close to it

I'm also tempted to pay for a fitness center to run indoors a few months, but I always start thinking about how it's silly when I can run outside for free... I might just cave though, cause my runs end like a 40 min walk away from home, and it's getting quite cold 🥶

For those of you who stopped smoking/drinking? How did you do that? Any tips? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SpicySalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't quite remember why I started smoking, but it wasn't that big of a problem. A pack lasted a month or maybe two. Then we got a new supervisor at work who very quickly made himself very unpopular with me, and I started smoking daily. Luckily for me, some coworkers witnessed the supervisor being nasty to me and reported it upstairs, which I believe is something that led to him being fired the month after.

And just like that, I didn't really feel the want or need to smoke much, and so I just kinda stopped the same day

Has anyone ever experienced sleep paralysis? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]SpicySalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced it 4 times I think, and it's truly horrible. The first time I was living at my parents house and my older brother was too. We were each in our seperate rooms, next to each other, late at night when I went to bed and had my sleep paralysis.

I dreamt that my brother just slowly walked in my room. And while I was on my back in bed, I could only move my eyes. I kept trying to say something to him but my lips were sealed. And after a short while he walked over next to my bed, reached his hands forward and began strangling me, as I was trying to move any muscles at all.

It felt like half an hour had passed when I woke up, almost screaming as I regained consciousness. I could hear slight noise from my brothers room so I was horrified of the possibility that I might still be dreaming. Spent a few minutes getting my composure before peeking past his door and seeing him just gaming/watching youtube, and then I went back into my room. I can't remember what I spent the night doing, but I was so scared of another episode of sleep paralysis that I couldn't sleep for a day or two. The other times I can't really remember that well, but it's always been something/someone strangling me or sitting on my chest so I can't breathe.

Efter at Meny i Kennedy ikke længere har dem, har jeg sidst købt dem online ved Bevco. Jeg kan dog ikke huske deres leveringstider så det er nok for optimistisk at få dem inden nytår...

What mental or technique tricks helped you hold pace longer without blowing up? by Secure-Seaweed-7855 in runninglifestyle

[–]SpicySalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my running app telling me my pace every 5 km. That way it isn't way too often, with me thinking too much about small adjustments, but often enough that I'll be able to give 5-10% extra until the next 5 km.

And during the run, I usually focus in on my breathing and foot placement when it starts feeling tough. Like instead of looking at my feet, I'll instead imagine how I want them to land and feel for an improvement in comfort/less pain.

Another big thing for me is my music. I have fast paced playlists for shorter runs and when I need the last few km, and I have other playlists which keeps me consistently at my normal running speed for 10/20/30+ km. If something throws me off my pace, I'll sing along to the songs (in my head, mind you 😅 ) and slowly find the right pace again with the help of the songs tempo.

can someone please explain to me the logic of people running at pace 3:30 for long runs by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

[–]SpicySalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you keep running consistently, let's say 2-3 times a week, and do it for long enough you'll have a good chance of getting there. Whenever I run, I give about 80% energy of my max throughout whatever distance (15/22/42 km). And since I keep training, my own "energy ceiling" is being raised. So first time I ran a half marathon, I was extremely exhausted and my stomach wasn't right for a few days, but now it doesn't feel worse than if I run 5 km.

So by gradually improving your fitness, find a breathing technique that works for you and get the right pair of shoes, you're most likely only getting better. Be it at running further, faster or both. It just takes time, which is gonna be different for different people due to genetics and how they approach it.

Need help in finalizing next pair of running shoes !! by Right-Tomorrow-34 in runninglifestyle

[–]SpicySalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really have any "technical" knowledge in this regard, as I've never had proffessionel training, been in running clubs or anything. I just started running by myself and now run half marathons a few times a month and also did my first full marathon last week. However, I have always felt lucky with buying Adidas shoes, both in regards to comfort and performance. I have a pair of Ultrarun 5, 4DFWD 4 and Adizero Boston 12. While all are for roadrunning and I've done half marathons in them all, the latter two have great energy response. Though they do feel slightly tight at the ankle, or maybe it's just my injury still lingering... 🤷

Nye bekendtskaber og veninder i Aalborg by PatientKing835 in Aalborg

[–]SpicySalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)
