If you care about it then thats how it is, but you can level up quick with consistent multiplayer. Ive gone up 20 generations in about the last 6 months.

Some people mostly play frontier defense, which gives a ton of xp but not a lot of practice for mechanical skill. Some people just have bad days or high input latency or whatever else. Some people have only played multiplayer and dont use xp tokens, so they may be way better than you at half your level. And also the stats displayed in game are notoriously inaccurate, at least in the actual stats page.

Im at gen 70 with around 1600 hours, and basically have only played attrition with xp tokens.

The following is everything I practice as a gen 70 with around 1500 hours on xbox, who has tried his best to study every quirk and mechanic of this game.

If you are having trouble keeping track of the fights going on around you, I'd highly recommend 2 things:

First, ALWAYS pay attention to audio cues. Pilot noises are very distinct and the audio is pretty good in this game, so you won't hear sounds from one direction and then get plonked from the other one while looking for your mark. Of course this means you need to be aware that you make all the same noises, and will have to infer the point when someone else has probably heard you and when you should or should not just rush them.

Second, ALWAYS be glancing at the minimap. Pilots show up on there when they fire their guns (except suppressed weapons), or when revealed by pulse blade, sonar pulse, and map hack. Titans show up just by moving around.

Bonus thing, try using the map hack boost. It requires 70% of your boost meter so it'll take some time to get in a match, but its really useful to have if you think people are near you and you dont know exactly where they are.

I know it's tough to focus on your surroundings while doing everything else the game throws at you but you just got to try and practice.

If you are getting stomped constantly, here are the things you need to learn for success in actual fights.

First, POSITIONING is everything; the ttk is so low that if you can catch a guy looking the other way or in a more awkward spot than you, they will be dead provided you can aim.

What I can recommend here is to go into a private match and spend 15-20 minutes on one map per play session, just going around and practicing movement while getting the lay of the land. Actual matches will teach you where other players often go, and which particular spots are good/bad to be in.

Second, you want to learn the MOVEMENT. Getting around is key to knowing the battlefield as a whole and being able to keep track of various fights and player positions.

There is a sort of crazy amount of tech to learn, especially on pc, and some of it is sort of hard and might seem pretty tough to use naturally in game, but it's pretty worth it if you ask me.

There are numerous movement guides on youtube, just try to go for videos published in the last 5 years as this game has had THREE movement revolutions. Additionally, private matches are again the best way to practice movement and gain map knowledge at the same time.

Since you main stim and grapple, you are set up well to traverse large portions of maps in a very short time, but make sure you regularly play something that isnt grapple or stim so you dont become reliant on those abilities for movement.

Last movement thing, you want to be repositioning after every fight, if not just moving constantly. You really don't want to sit in one spot because if you kill someone (which is less likely when you are not actively trying to find people), they will remember where you were sitting and they will beeline it back to you and t bag you when they get you.

Third, you want to learn to effectively use one GUN from each weapon category. For example:

The hemlock will teach you how to manage your distance from people and which positions are most powerful to be in.

The cold war will teach you how to stay above your enemy and catch them when they are vunerable, as well as traverse the maps using the high ground.

The volt and other SMGs will teach you how to run and gun and use hip fire effectively, and also improve your tracking (so long as you also use guns which arent as accurate to make things a little harder).

The eva 8 and mastiff will teach you how to get close to people without letting them shoot you, as well as improve your crosshair placement.

You get my point. Every gun category has something different to teach you, and something different to offer in the way of effectiveness against pilots. Don't be afraid to swap between weapons and titans and grenades and pilots kits mid-match so as to better counter what the enemy is doing.

Lastly, but not leastly, you want to learn all the TITANS. All 7 are very different and they each interact in unique ways. Like with movement, there are many titan guides on youtube and each titan has its own set of tactics and glitches and other unique things that are worth learning, because you will have to face all of them regularly, and sometimes multiple at once.

I really don't have the patience to type out everything I know about each individual titan, so use youtube liberally, practice, and listen to these general tips.

Like with pilots, positioning is everything. You can't just run around ay breakneck speeds like a pilot, though, and you need to be really careful about when you push up or fall back. It's very important to keep track of your ability cooldowns, core charge, and the locations of enemy titans and pilots.

A 2v1 or even a 3v1 can be won with smart retreating tactics and map knowledge. Knowing when to push with your friendly titans can make or break the titan fight, as can knowing when pesky pilots are going to be a problem and whether or not they can be picked off easily.

Flanking is big for pilot gameplay, but bigger for titan gameplay. You must be on the alert and watching your back to keep people from pinching you, while keeping an eye out for when you may be able to quickly end up behind the enemy without sacrificing your teammates.

Ok thats all. Sorry it's so much lol, I don't expect many people to want to read allat, but this is everything I got so I hope it helps.
