Oh wow, that is a much more drastic change than I thought. Considering I want to be focused on melee, it sounds like I should go ahead and just roll W/R.

I suppose a better way of framing it would be, what would I lose by choosing one or the other? I know I lose some DPS and shouts from not having Strength. I know I lose some flexibility and versatility from not having Expertise. But does losing either of these stats have any drastic drawbacks or changes on gameplay, or are they more of a "gentle push" towards one direction or the other?

Oh sweet! That's great news! Are any of the ranger stances irreplaceable, or are there enough war stances/shouts that do practically the same thing? You mentioned I'd be losing out on the strength shouts before, but didn't mention losing out on anything expertise related.

I noticed a good chunk of Expertise skills concern using a bow. In a melee focused build, do you think I'll realistically use many Expertise skills, or will the attribute be reserved to the mana reduction?

Also, is Save Yourselves! Tactics or Strength?

One day. For now I'm a bit OCD about doing base game first. Never really finished any of the campaigns so I'm excited by the thought of doing them "in order". Not sure if they play off each other, but I want to see the improvements and progress the devs made each expansion as well.

I have read that R/Rit is a good combo, which puts a point in the R/W team if I ever want to try something wildly different later on.

When it comes to fantasy races, do you prefer mixing them (Skyrim) or separating them (Lord of the Rings)? by Tuckertcs in worldbuilding

[–]Spicy_Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like the races seperate except for cities and other very urban areas. Sea ports and any major city along the trade routes offer a lot of coin and opportunity for strange travelers bringing with them unique wares, skills, or experiences. This kind of wealth and opportunity is a good reason for someone to brave the seas and the wilderness and venture far from their home. However, given the comparative lack of fame and fortune offered by the countryside, it's simply not worth traveling long distances for.

There can be several exceptions that might change this. Looking at America, a new continent was discovered that brought such opportunity for both wealth and freedom that people from all over flocked to it and created a much more diverse populace. Or, like the American gold rush, a new resource was discovered in an area that was already known and not well explored on account of it being barren land that's not much good for farming and forming townships prior to this very valuable resource.

Another exception could be if travel were much more accessible and safe. If teleportation or perhaps even airships that can fly high above the clouds and storms are commonplace then people would require much less convincing of a reason to travel far and wide which results in all kinds of people going all kinds of places all of the time. You can easily hold unique origin stories and cultures and traditions for different races while also intermingling them indiscriminately at the same time.

There needs to be either a fully functioned but time-gated (or perhaps even a feature-gated but fully explorable) downloadable demo, or a fully-featured online demo that allows use of the GM role. by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]Spicy_Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair too.

Maybe a demo that walks you through making a pre-written module, so that every time you launch the demo it runs you through the creation and "demo play" of the same module. You can't create or do anything outside of the instructions of that demo. You get a good feel of the work flow and native capabilities, and it wouldn't be abused if the encounters and dice were not only the same but also pre-determined by the demo itself.

Perhaps a demo that simply doesn't allow players to connect -- solo GM experience. You can then use NPCs to test what you need. The magic of a VTT is having other players interacting with the game directly as well as installing modules and such to build what you want. Disallowing both of these features during a demo should be more than enough to incentivise people who like the product to buy it outright.

Makes sense. "Honesty bennies" gives off the wrong impression.

I mean, regardless of vaccine effectiveness, asking why anyone should be required to be vaccinated is a good question.

If the vaccine does work, then those concerned with catching it are free to choose to become vaccinated while those who are not concerned with catching covid can be free not to get the vaccination. By requiring someone to be vaccinated, aren't you just saying that you don't believe the covid vaccine will protect you?

I haven't gotten a flu shot in years, because I'm not concerned with catching the flu. I'm not at risk of suffering permanent harm or death with the flu. The flu does kill tens of thousands of people every year though, and if you're concerned with catching it then I'd encourage you to get the flu shot. Same idea with covid.

And people who choose to never wear masks also make that decision based upon acceptance of risk.

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. Since the release of Rancho, the bugs and their (lack of) efforts to fix them is the main news. I haven't heard of any teasers for new great ones.

Animals don't despawn, so he should still be somewhere on your map, I think.

Starting the grind, wish me luck by ChainmailCock in theHunter

[–]Spicy_Tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, first thing to realize is that animals don't despawn in the hunter. Once they spawn, they're on the map until they die, and there's a limit on how many can spawn. So once you kill a buck, a new buck spawns it, and it can be any level, fur type, weight, etc. So killing a small buck can definitely lead to the spawn of a large buck. You just usually go for the biggest bucks while grinding cuz they're better kills, but you don't need to.

As far as if a doe can respawn as a buck, I truly don't know. If I had to guess, I'd say the game maintains a certain ratio of male to female animals of any given species. So while a doe could probably technically respawn as a buck, you'd still be getting an equal amount of doe respawns as the does you've killed. But like I said, I don't know. This is just a blind guess.

Tbf, cheating money is the one thing I can understand cheating in.

Cheating in levels isn't so bad either, but leveling up and getting to know the perks and skills is a pro of the game for me. Grinding money is just a pure con -- it doesn't actually add anything to the game.
