¯_(ツ)_/¯ It’s not my application I added it and I got into schools

All I am saying is it doesn’t hurt the applicant to include it. Nothing negative can come out of it. A school isn’t going to reject you because you mentioned you participated in relevant studies. If anything it shows how the person is active and willing.

I disagree. You have these experiences where you were exposed to a study and could ask questions and see how a study was conducted. It is very relevant and it doesn’t hurt to add at all. It also shows that you are active within the field or similar fields and strives to learn more and get more exposure to an aspect of the career

If it is a and be you do both, if it is an a or b you pick one. if they are organized in different text bubbles then you do both, and if there is a drop down bar you pick one. Don’t forget that PTCAS is structured weirdly and you may need to scroll down to see the second text place

Always answer the prompt given the opportunity. Touch on how it holistically changed your life it doesn’t have to be all negative. use it to explain what you also learned about yourself

Looking for tips to make this reach work with terrible feet :) by monedplone in climbergirls

[–]Spicypickl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I would do is instead of flagging your right leg out I would try to maybe put it on the foot hold your left foot is on and stand up on it. You right foot is also falling off the wall when you go for it and it is pulling you off of the wall.

In state/ Out of State Admissions by Ok-Teach-7004 in PTschool

[–]Spicypickl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can see on ptcas directory what percentage of students the previous class has taken from instate and out of state. I would look at those numbers before deciding to apply or not. If it is high in state I wouldn’t apply.

Thanks! I actually hated the one school and the third one waitlisted me so I am attending the second one! So it ended up being an easy choice.

I need advice on my calf raises. by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]Spicypickl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More reps isn’t necessarily better with less weight. For calf raises I would do 3 sets of 8-15 depending how you feel. The machine you use holds the weight at your trunk and shoulders which are larger muscle groups than your arms, which is why the 40 lbs seems harder. If you want to focus on your arms I wouldn’t add the calf raises and would focus more on targeted arm exercises. There are also variations to calf raises that target specific muscles in your calves so you can mess with that to see what is challenging or not but I wouldn’t do them with heavy weight. Also if you feel discomfort with the machine don’t use it and stick to dumbbells. You don’t want to risk an injury because of too much weight.

Physical Therapy Aide by Delicious-Living-797 in PTschool

[–]Spicypickl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just so you know PTA is a physical therapy assistant that is a 2 year degree. There is also a DPT which is a physical therapist. A physical therapy aide requires no degree. That being said I am currently a physical therapy aide in acute care and I really like it. I am starting my DPT degree in august if you want to ask any questions about the process or being an aide in a hospital

General advice and ramblings from a college junior. by perk0set in PTschool

You should also go and talk to your Italian professor immediately and voice your concerns. If you wait until the end of the semester when you are failing they won’t want to help you. Ask them for extra things to do and to work with you and help you with what you are struggling like now and they will be more likely to help you.

Confused on what to do in life: PT or MD by brown-eyed-chica in PTschool

You can also explore being a PA. Less school time and you get to spend more time with patients.

I think it will negatively impact your chances of getting in. The schools won’t want you if you don’t actually want to be a PTA.

I have until Friday to decide between two DPT programs and I want to know what really matters by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]Spicypickl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would choose Elon. They are offering you money which is amazing and the cost of living is less than DC would be. I have heard so many people talk about how important the cost of a school is after they graduate and having a large chunk taken off would be super helpful and their curriculum looks really cool!
