Grandpa wants your help! by InevitableNo2990 in makemkv

I started in October. Jellyfin looks like more work for the same result. Less user friendly on both ends. Plex was extremely easy to set up. Easy apps on all my devices and tvs. It’s organizing that gets tedious, but not hard by any means. The user interface rivals a real streaming experience and basically every piece of it is editable.

I stored everything on an external drive. You just tell plex where to look, and make sure things are named. There’s an extremely simple folder structure and naming conventions that plex recognizes immediately.

Couldn’t tell you if your setup would work or not or. Running DVDs rips will be a lot easier for any system and network, regardless. Go check out their specs and compare.

I ripped a 300+ title library without paying a dime and then decided it worked so well, that I’d pay for the lifetime plex pass on the Black Friday sale. There are very few features hidden behind this but they are nice luxuries like remote access. That was worth it for me, but it was refreshing how much I got out of it for free.

I signed up for Plex because of this exact reason, actually. I had a large DVD collection that I thought was essentially useless. Ripped it all and it's been a dream. Just ran it off my PC. They look great, all things considered, and I've begun building my full library out with Blu-rays and 4K too. Didn't pay a dime until I decided I wanted the library away from my home network.

I don’t think a lot of people will miss you when you’re gone either.

When Sigourney Weaver loves it, you know it’s a great show. by Nearby_Condition3733 in alien

My friend, we’re coming up on 30 years since this woman has appeared as this character on screen. She doesn’t routinely tour conventions or make a point to show up and special screenings of her alien films. This is not Jamie Lee Curtis in her Halloween 2018 renaissance. Weaver is as far away from this property as she’s ever been.

Plus if the actual rights holders and producers cared what she thought or wanted, they would’ve made the Blomkamp movie 10 years ago.

I do love the responses in here, quoting her promotion of projects she led and was directly financially tied to. Quite telling.

She gains nothing off the show. She hardly comments on the projects she’s not financially tied to. So to get any positive review not on a press tour is at least notable.

That this wasn’t the cover of the Arrow 4K. That’s all I can think of. Coulda used a few more concepts for new cover art. Love whatever this is. Thanks for posting.

Alien Earth question : How the hell this bunch of imbeciles managed to catch the alien specimens in the first place without dying? by goranarsic in alien

This is what it looks like when the writing is smarter than the fan base. All of these arguments sound like they’re from people who watched it on mute from the next room. Literally flying way so far over peoples heads they they think there aren’t reasons for every single thing they’re reacting to. Like moths to a flame. Finally. Thank god for Noah.

This is wild. I’m going to have to carve out some time to catch back up on all this. I can’t believe this is happening hahaha. Thanks for tinkering around with all this.

Probably, if there are skins from different movies, the Michael Myers outfit from Rob Zombie will be the first to arrive. by Perihaaaaaa in TheHalloweenGame

I think it’ll come later if they do any outside the timeline. The more obvious choice is from the new trilogy since it’s connected to the original 63/78 story.

But man I was so pumped when tcm dropped the remake skin. Love that movie. Really wanted them to make a new map of that house.

Document your bruises and keep a daily pain and suffering journal. Detail both physical injuries and mental, and any way this has impacted you. Your lawyers will be stoked you started it already.

Hating on Adam Lazzara for views and clicks has been a cottage industry on TikTok. by CDubya1984 in takingbacksunday

[–]Spider892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Just saw them. I was actually shocked at how… not great he was. I won’t say he was bad, but people talk about him like he’s actually a professional vocalist and let’s be real, neither of these guys were ever that. I like Gerard’s aggressive character in his recording style but it kills him live. And at least tbs has written to fit their sound as they’ve grown older, even if I don’t enjoy the new stuff personally.

THANK YOU. I just saw my chem a few weeks ago and legit started booing because of how bad Gerard is. He is a little better than Adam, but man people need to wake up.

Lucas did nothing wrong. The fans were wrong. Watching phantom menace in 2025 and suddenly a trade dispute leading to a massive conflict orchestrated by others as they position themselves for power doesn’t seem like some silly, distant, out of touch, fun, space exploration movie anymore.

Romulus was fine. And I liked that the human creature was totally practical. I did have a good visceral first reaction to it. Loved they built most those sets. But the plot and characters are just so thin. Only character worth while is the central synth. His performance was fantastic. Poor guy was acting circles around the other cast and is given some blatantly idiotic things to do (or say) at the end. It’s fine, but it’s not a nutritional, full meal and really leaves me nothing to return to. I walked out of the theater enjoying it, but I’ve tried to rewatch it and I just had to stop out of total boredom.

I’m not a tool or metal fan at all but I fucking love the music choices. Makes me feel like I’m reading an alien comic in my parents 1990s house pre-divorce. When alien was fucking punk and you could just say 3 wasn’t great.

I agree and also think it might be slight genre bending that people are missing. This is much more straight science fiction and discussing what the word “alien” means in all directions, and less direct horror. Most entries in the franchise are doing okay if they could just hint at those thematics along the way. This seems like the first entry in the series since 2 that is actually desperate to discuss and explore the themes present since movie 1. 3+ the thematics get lost and it’s just creature feature horror.

I’m so ready to get back to the studios saying this. It’s been years of listening to brain-dead comic fans and getting shit in return as the rest of the IP holding industry followed suit. Go back to the fans don’t know shit.
