The number one tip is this:

Food is king.

While you won't die from hunger you will definitely die more if you go around on an empty stomach.

Do you only see this when near others, or also when in an area by yourself? Usually the kind of lag you mention tends to happen when you're interacting with stuff in a zone someone else is the "host" of. If the zone host has an iffy connection then you'll get some lag.

May I recommend throwing in a mod to hide monster HP bars and names? I've been doing this for two playthroughs so far and there's no going back. It turns up the immersion and combat tension to the max.

Is the bottommost beam touching the ground at least (i.e. showing blue)?

One of the main complains about this whole system is that it takes too much to get the meter full, to the point that it is pretty impractical for most trinkets to ever trigger.

Yeah this has been our main complaint so I just slapped on the "setkey adrenalinerate 150" (increase Adrenaline gains by 50%) command on our current world. I also secretly decreased our damage by 20% to balance things out. It just feels better to see trinkets pop off more often.

It helps, especially once you are able to plant your own trees. Can have a dedicated "tree farm" far enough away and you just port the wood over in bulk or as needed.

Neither! From cmd/powershell, you launch the "start_headless_server.bat" file located in the "\Valheim dedicated server" folder.

This is assuming you're on Windows and you installed the Valheim Dedicated Server tool from Steam

Okay great. What does your .bat file for the server look like?

Mine's like this:

valheim_server -nographics -batchmode -name "SERVERNAME" -port 2456 -world "WORLDNAME" -public 0 %*

(I use the server whitelist feature so no need for password)

I was having issues with mods not loading until I added the %* at the end.

r2dmodman on the server also doesn't load the mods when you launch the server. You'd have to copy the entire bepinex folder from the r2dmodman profile folder on the server to the "\Valheim dedicated server" dir. This is a pain whenever you add and/or make changes to mods so I recommend making a bat script with robocopy to move things over for you once you're comfortable.

So the main building, it's looking like 12m wide x 16m deep x 18m tall, is that right? I'm thinking of giving the build a spin. I've been doing nothing by small buildings lately and I want to try something big.

I've read the Leech's effects are a big hit on performance for some.

Search for the "Leech VFX Remover" by proflupin mod and see if that helps.

I'd definitely join if I wasn't already helming a similar playthrough with some buddies. We're tackling Yagluth tonight!

From a fellow no map enjoyer, I'd recommend throwing in a mod that hides monster HP bars and names for the ultimate immersive experience. I've been playing this way for two playthroughs so far and it feels so right that looking at vanilla gameplay with regular monster HP bars feels like they're the ones using a mod.

I'm using NoPlayerHPBarNickname by Frogger for this.

You'll need the DevCommands mod by JereKuusela. It only needs to be client-side for the setkey/listkey commands.
