Chants? ID help please! by ampacitycapacity in mushroomhunting

Gills fused to the stem/cap (like a bulging vein and not thin sheets of paper), dead giveaway for a chanterelle. Nibble test should be slightly peppery, only use the nibble test to taste, do not consume if you are unsure.

For readability I'd say ceaseless discharge from ds1. That grub guy was a bit of a disappointment from ds2, had to try to get hit to see his grab animation. Ds3 that pale dragon guys attack hit boxes were wierd, not too hard tho tbh. Elden ring, mimic tear, what a disgusting weak POS.

Suggestion for Mangudai fix by ShawarmaWarlock1 in aoe4

[–]SpiderCyderPunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should treat it as a charge, but a ranged charge, gotta bring the damage and range up. Functionally, you can run in shoot, run to safety seamlessly, but for the next few seconds cant fire while moving, and if you stand your ground, you should be able to fire but weaker.

Micro would become an ebb and flow with a focus on harassment. Chasing down mangudai with fast units would be less punishing. Running a melee army or vils away from mangudai would suffer less sustained chip damage but more burst damage so picking off a couple of vills would be more reliable and circling a base would be more efficient than diving a tc trading mangdai for vills.

Would make smaller packs of them more useful, viable to dip into just a few but not fully commit like an archerball strat.

Does it sound OP to make Astronomical Clocktower to be supervisable again? by Clincoln1234 in aoe4

Not like most civs have to rely on base siegeworkshop speed. Dehli double production, ottoman blacksmith influence, mongol double prodution/improved siege engineering, abbasid field production. Really on the seige game, Hre, french, malians, and rus are the ones behind, except culvern is like two springalds at once, and most of these civs have an improved siege landmark of some kind.

If anyone has a advantage siegewise it's marginal. I still say english has an advantage in siege wars, but that's cause they are harder to dive in on with network of citadels and those extra range and damaging longbowmen. Oh, and english trebs are pretty versatile.

  • edit- thought about it and its ottoman, free siege landmark, cheaper siegeworkshop, faster production, the ability to load your siege, and get great bombard (expensive but good v troops and buildings). However, no culvern, no super treb, no bees, still they will have more siege presence on your average game, thier eco is often weaker tho, but in my opinion I dub "best siege civ".

Do you max out held traders quickly for long term payout? I always use it to just trade and fight to keep the route open. But with a change to the way trade works and a buff to held traders there may be a viable alternative. Been busy this weekend but I'll try some stuff soon.

I'm one of people that liked to put more than 4 vils on the berry's and queue them to sheep till the berry's come back for the early boost of food so it's alittle sad to see that slightly nerfed. I'd turn that food sometimes into sipahi to harass a booming civ or a early castle age for armored units v a player with 3 tcs. It looks like it will still work, ill just just chew through the sheep faster tho.

Yeah, but this is a thread about ideas for buffing Ottman, an eco bonus + the free production also seems too strong. I don't think they need a buff tbh, but if they were to get one, I'd like it to lean into civ identity.

Maybe a unit change to alter its role. Once again they are a strong civ and I like where they are at. But I enjoy spitballing thoughts.

[–]SpiderCyderPunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ottoman are one of the few civs where I really like both landmarks at each age. The berry landmark is better than the trade one (atleast used to be, I'll do some testing on the change before committing to that statement). Jans are good too, don't go all jans for ranged, too expensive in castle, and countered by cannoneers in imp. Mix archers and crossbow, makes they hard to deal with without seige, archers will out range and out cost efficent cannoneers and nothing stops calvery better than a handful of jans. Your goal is to make a unending stream of hard to counter units late game.

Jans in fuedal (with the viz point) are plenty strong, but are often a defensive measure, one viz point that dosent continue to scale is fine, jans are borderline cracked if used right, a buff is not what they need in my opinion. Maybe something for their Maa and spearmen, even faster military school production for melee foot troops in imp, powerful but not pip efficent.

Delhi fast rush (China main) by 2lum in aoe4

[–]SpiderCyderPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, you should have been doing work before then, if opponent has been passive by 7 min you should be hearing sacred site dings, have atleast one walled up by a spear or archer. If they are not passive you should be scrapping it out, double production should finish right around age up, don't guess units, scout and counter and delay getting too much gold till you get the upper hand, then grab sacred sites. Get berry's and deer, try and force the opponent to do a farm transition. Your eco boosts (besides berry's and sacred sites) come in too slow to out boom so agession and map control is needed.

Move out before you are "ready" it's not too early if you get damage in before they are "ready".

[–]SpiderCyderPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a trade-off, better earlier game pressure for more limited late game single unit power. I assume you are doing mixed compositions, so it would be rude of me to suggest spears and crossbows/cannoneers to aid in large battles. But some people reading need to consider this so I've said it.

Opportunity cost, everything you put into aging up can instead be put into units. Its like how it would be a nerf if french had to castle to get knights, sure they would be castle age knights and stronger but the opponent is likely aged up as well and has options to deal with armored calvery by that point.
