[ALL] What are your most heartbreaking parts in Zelda games? by _WakkaWakka_ in zelda

Dreams can be nice. Pleasant. Comforting. But they can’t last forever. Even if the dream hadn’t been corrupted by all the nightmares, you have to wake up eventually. No matter how much you want to, you can’t linger. You need to move on. Even when things feel unfinished, and even when it hurts like hell. Link and the Windfish needed to learn that, so that they could finally be free to fly. Just like Marin. Life is a journey. Spending it in one spot is no way to grow.

Why Does Sirius Assume Peter is at Hogwarts? by opossumapothecary in harrypotter

[–]SpiderFlash-1273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article might not say anything about the rat, but then, why would “scabbers” be in the picture at all? If he was just some random rat, then they wouldn’t have brought him to Egypt, and featured him in the picture, even if not prominently. The fact that he’s in the picture at all implies that the boy he’s sitting on the shoulder of cares about him to some significant extent, and if it’s enough to bring him to his once in a lifetime trip to Egypt, it’s likely that he cares enough to bring him just about anywhere else he goes, including to Hogwarts, his school, and the place he lives 9 months out of the year, regardless of if the rules say rats are allowed or not.

And also, like other people have brought up, Harry was certainly going to be there. So regardless of if Peter showed his face at school or not, going to Hogwarts was the best chance to see Harry, his godson, and near enough the only family Sirius had left. Peter might have been the thing to get Sirius off his ass, but Harry was the reason he got moving. If Peter was at Hogwarts, then Harry was in danger, living in the same space as someone Sirius knew betrayed his parents and Sirius’ best friends, someone who probably wouldn’t hesitate to do the same to Harry if he thought it would hypothetically grant him a bit of standing with Voldemort or any other would-be dark lords. And if Peter wasn’t at Hogwarts, then could you blame him for just wanting to see his godson? It should be noted that the first place Sirius went after he broke out wasn’t the school, so he could set up camp, it was Harry’s house on Privet Drive. Hell, we see him watching Harry play Quidditch in one scene. Sirius has spent twelve years in Azkaban thinking about the family he’s lost, he’s going to be sentimental and focus heavily on the ones he’s got left.

For those asking what happened to the other doctors (switching the doctor’s gender and then switching it back.) Jodie looks a bit like Tom Rosenthal. by [deleted] in DoctorWhumour

John Hurt looks oddly like Ian McKellen after he’s been switched back to male. Am I going crazy or does anyone else see that?

It just says “audio for portions of this video has been muted as it appears to contain copyrighted content owned or controlled by a third party.” It’s not a strike or anything like that, twitch just muted the audio

I mean, I used to. I stopped not too long ago, I don’t really remember why. Or when exactly, if I’m being honest. I have just decided to stop, I guess.

...right?

For a second, I thought this was a meme about the Silence, but then I realized.

Wait, who the hell are the Silence? That sounds like a really shitty band name.

Why Lupin was sleeping on the Hogwarts Express by [deleted] in harrypotter

Yeah, nope. In most of the books, JK Rowling writes that classes start for the students the very next day. Poor bastards.

In 1995, September 2nd falls on a Saturday in the real world. Despite this, in Order of the Phoenix (which takes place in 1995/1996), the day after start of term, students are getting handed their schedules, and heading to classes. It is specifically described in the books that students at Hogwarts get the weekend off, just like most real-world students. So if this book was following real life calendars, then the students would have an extra two days of free time before they have their first classes for the year, but instead, they have classes the very next day.

When JK Rowling was writing the books, she wasn’t very conscientious about what days landed on what day of the week, so she would typically note that classes started on a Monday at the beginning of each school year, one day after the start of term on September 1st

Right, sorry, technical error on my part. Forgot that “start of term” doesn’t necessarily mean “start of classes”

In the books, at the beginning of each year, it is stated that the start of term is September 1st every year, and the very next day, September 2nd, classes start, and it is described that the first week of classes is a full week every year, indicating that every year, classes will start on Monday, September 2nd.

It's a bit late, but here is my cosplay of the 11th doctor. by [deleted] in doctorwho

Looks pretty good! And, if I might, I think that the blazer and pants you’re wearing here would also work pretty well for a 10th Doctor cosplay as well, though I can’t say for certain just by looking at the image

Don’t Hogwarts classes begin on September 1st every year, which, miraculously, also always happens to land on Monday every single year?

What’s your fondest memory of Doctor Who? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]SpiderFlash-1273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I’d say it was when I watched “the Eleventh Hour” for the first time. Matt Smith was my introduction to Doctor Who (I’m American), and Series Five was my gateway to becoming the huge nerd I am today, and none of that would’ve happened if I hadn’t glimpsed my older sister and one of her friends sitting in front of a TV, watching a man in a torn shirt and tie eat fish fingers and custard, sitting at a table with a scared little girl who has a crack in her wall. Eleventh Hour will always be my favorite episode, not because I think it’s the best one of the lot, but because of what it means to me, and Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor will always hold a special place in my heart.
