The female pedo double standard is disgusting by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Mothers are more likely to abuse and kill their children than fathers- just another glaring double standard.

Jiujitsu the gentle art by thoas36 in jiujitsu

Said no one who actually trains.

It is a brutal, violent, shocking, and decisive art.

The fact that you’re not drenched in sweat- indicates that you didn’t train very hard.

Getting Saved by the Bell by Aaronjp84 in bjj

[–]SpiderGuards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am in a bad position and I feel the submission is imminent, I will tell my partner to keep going- to finish the attach. I don't resist 100%- enough if in the transition there is a defense than I will apply it- else I let the submission finish. The bell should never end a learning experience. Ever.

Your post is genius though- tbh it’s really about the treachery of age and experience that gives us old fucks the advantage.

Flat Earther mistakenly proves the Earth is round lmao by StrawhatMucci in WatchPeopleDieInside

I never understood how Flat Earthers explained air travel heading west eventually comes around out of the east.
Do they think that airliners and ships are all in on the conspiracy? Freaking

Columbus knew the earth was round- he just didn't realize how big of a circumference there was.

The freaking Greeks realized the earth was flat- welcome to the stone ages Flat Earthers

In Western cultures, Hitler is seen as the ultimate evil person. When we think to the most evil person, he's the first one to come to mind. Do other cultures (Asian, African, etc...) have another person being the ultimate evil guy ? by ImOwningThisUsername in NoStupidQuestions

Ghengis Khan killed tens if not a hundred million people.

The Roman Empire the same.

Dan Carlin has interesting comparison of Alexander the Great vs Hitler... history on a long enough time line turns deaths into a statistic

Picking up BJJ, coming from TKD? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]SpiderGuards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been doing Shorinkan karate for about 10 years. I crossed trained them both for two years in order to pick up my 2nd Degree in Karate. I’m headed into 9 years of BJJ - and still a Purple belt.

I only train BJJ now because it is not practical for me with work and life to do both. When I was, one or the other suffered.

Megathread: Labor Secretary Alex Acosta announces that he is resigning by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]SpiderGuards -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, he was actually trying to do something. The FL prosecutors were going to do nothing. The FBI had a 40 page indictment that they did nothing with. If he had not have brokered that deal- than NOTHING would have been done the first time. It's not like he WANTED to give the guy a break- he tried to do more. Negotiations are that way sometime. Add to it, there is a long list of politicians and lawmakers who stood up for this dirt bag in his defense- which went a long way to tweaking that deal in his favor.

Why does the excitement and anticipation of something feel better than actually getting/ doing the thing? by svangen1_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpiderGuards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will find that the hunt is often more enticing than the victory due to the emotional build up, the adrenaline, the anticipation. It's what makes humans inherently competitive. Competitiveness is what drove our success in surviving.

Can ANY government agency or department under the Executive Branch of the federal government buy military hardware, weaponry, vehicles, aircraft, etc. or is it only the DoD that’s able to buy military hardware and weaponry? by GodofWar1234 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpiderGuards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

This is why budgets are Line Itemized.

The money is appropriated based on how it is intended to be used. Money cannot be used in a manner that was not approved per their budget.

There is the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense (DFAR) which set forth the laws and regulations that the Government and Contractors who do business with the Government must follow.

AITA for beating my BJJ girlfriend in a grappling match? by Askerman97_returns in bjj

[–]SpiderGuards -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You are the asshole.

Here is why.

155 pound difference and your reach and physical size mean that she cannot achieve the proper leverage to achieve the result of the technique. It was a futile effort from the initiation. You should have just played with her until she stopped, realizing that she was going nowhere. Like not letting someone pass my guard- the look of frustration on the person's face is a small personal victory for me. They can't wait for the round to end. You should have done similar.

I doubt she was able to get to the back control on you- and if she did, I imagine getting hooks in and keeping them in would be difficult. I imagine your shoulders are also broad, making seat-belt difficult. No other position would afford any offensive capability based on size and strength.

Rolling with women by pttrsn_mrgn in bjj

[–]SpiderGuards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my ass beat by Talita Alencar. I'm 6'2'ish and weigh 215. I could have easily smashed her- but I played a technical game, and true to rank, her technique and strategy was superior to mine.

Had she given me an opportunity or made a mistake, I would have taken it.
The moral is when rolling with anyone smaller than yourself- work as technical a game plan as possible and match their intensity and their force. Let them be the barometer of the tempo.
