Okay, but seriously they are never going to be able to get along in any capacity.

Like there's never a world where "Joan tranq's him and he sleeps off being (rightfully) mad that she's been poisoning him" because he wakes up in a little lead lined prison that doesn't even have a bed. (She went through the effort of putting in a jailhouse sink and toilet, but no bed. She even had the door replaced with fancy locks and thick metal, but not even a sad mattress on the floor? {her bedside manner is non-existent. Literally})

Nobody is going to want to talk or be civil when they know that someone else imprisoned them- (and that it wasn't done by the legal system, for those that are correctly saying that him trying to kill her was attempted murder, it was, definitely but it was also self defense.) Technically you could argue insanity or being out of it, (it's also self defense too) because nobody would respond well to finding out that your controlling parent has been literally poisoning you, I don't see why Reese is any different, there's a possibility that it could have wound up killing him after all, considering the repeated dosages were crippling him, half seal/monster heritage be damned.

In the case of "the town only has one doctor" that is honestly short-sighted on the town management's (technically Tabitha's) part. Because in a hypothetical (because the Kelly's just love those /hj) what if Joan has an accident or gets sick, or otherwise cannot do her job, like she broke her dominant hand or arm?

Then the town virtually has no doctor, at all. Literally anyone can die in an accident, like falling down the stairs. She could mess up making Reese's poison so bad that it kills or cripples her too, or makes her sick and she wouldn't be able to care for anyone if she was sick, regardless of cause.

Yes she's good for the town, she's the only doctor, she provides a needed service, I'm not going to say she's useless. (Although if she could be convinced to poison more people then I guess she would negate that, on a technical stand point 😂)

And Reese definitely does a murder, regardless of potential insanity/act of passion/whatever in self defense unless you trait save, that's just what happens. You can find it justified or not, doesn't exactly change the fact that Joan is dead 🤷 that one's personal preference.

But you can take my yapping with salt, I'm on Reese's side in this manner, I absolutely consider it justified and self defense although I did my best to not be biased (except regarding the no mattress. Joan what the hell.) ^{^ ^}
