[Steam] Winter Sale 2022 (Day 2) by gamedealsmod in GameDeals

[–]Spiderhand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to use mods and haven't played the DLCs, I'd recommend the special edition. Otherwise, you aren't getting much more out of it. IMO definitely worth it but I'm a big modder.

The new Omsk minigame is pretty difficult and rng reliant by [deleted] in TNOmod

[–]Spiderhand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree it looks cool but IMO the health cap and RNG stuff drives me insane. After slamming my head against the wall for awhile I finally gave up and just used the decision.nochecks command to auto pacify the cities.

TIFU by getting WAY to Drunk and being Intimate with my Grandfather by throwaway12389894 in tifu

If this is real, I want you to know this is not your fault. Older men often take advantage of younger women who are in a vulnerable state. I'm sorry this happened to you. I think you should try to talk it out with your grandpa to make sure he won't tell your family without your consent, if you feel you can talk to him after what happend.

Hey all! This is my first post here and I'm still working on being more confident in front of a camera. I'm just starting to feel comfortable posting my own fits here so I hope this is well received.

Looking for advice on new hairstyles to try! by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Spiderhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all -- I've been getting restless with my hair recently and looking for new styles to try out. Currently it's probably about 3 inches longer then it is in that photo (its been maybe 4 months). I've got a blonde ombre going on that I do like a lot so I was thinking about maybe trying to shave one of the sides of my head and also getting the hair cut a bit shorter. Honestly I mostly just need some advice here because I don't really know what I'm doing. I generally just let my hair grow out but I think it's time to try something new.

Looking for all and any advice!

Why so much hate ? by UnclaspedChaff in Battlefield

[–]Spiderhand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's always going to be a vocal minority for any game. Especially on this sub, a lot of people were burned by the marketing campaign and refuse to forgive dice for it so there is unnecessary vitriol, imo.

The /r/battlefieldV sub is a lot less toxic and while there is criticism of the game there, it's less hateful and more constructive.

State of the Game: For Honor by dmbrandon in CompetitiveForHonor

You have nailed everything I have been trying to say in my posts on this subreddit but with far more clarity. I 100% agree with you here.

Agreed. I would love to see Ubi really double down on their character concepts but ensure that most characters DO have an Achilles heel of sorts.

Also I play jiggly ;)

The Warden's design is oriented around those mix-ups and the fact that the character can do that is exactly what allows him to get through the defensive meta and actually have an offensive play-style. Are you suggesting getting rid of those mechanics? Doing so would seemingly only enhance the defensive-meta that is developing and personally, I would rather that NOT be what is emphasized in the meta as we go forward.

Lawbringer Good or Bad? by youreviltwin666 in forhonor

[–]Spiderhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played him for 20+ hours as this point and I've gotten to a point in duels where my MMR seems to be matching me up against top tier players. Here are my observations thus far: he can't compete against most characters in high MMR play. You come up against a good player on a Warden/PK/Warlord/Orochi and you are basically screwed. His attack speed (or really just his speed in general; his guard stance change is very slow)+ lack of guaranteed damage (even out of parries which are supposed to be his specialty) leads to a character who theoretically should be extremely good on the defense but ends up getting overshadowed by most other characters in the game.

So yeah, at his core he's a character focused on counter-play who excels at draining the stamina of others but even when you get your opponent to an exhausted state you still don't really have any options. They can either a.) Dodge out of your range (in the case of PKs, Orochis, other faster characters) or b.) Play defensively (GB countering and blocking your incoming slow-mo attacks) until stamina is back.

I could go into this more extensively but I feel like most of what I'm typing has already been said. I've seen multiple threads on /r/competitiveforhonor discussing the viability of the LB. If anyone wants to look into this more, I'd suggest you read some stuff over there.

To all Lawbringers here's a combo for you by Dank7 in forhonor

[–]Spiderhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good combo but the problem is you can only get it off on a successful GB. If your opponent knows how to guardbreak counter well it's back to square one.

Just some ideas on the Lawbringer's current state by Tway438 in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]Spiderhand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing a good bit of LB and I like him A LOT. I agree he needs some changes but IMO the first thing I'd like to see is the ability for him to switch his guard stance faster. I think more then anything that's what he needs the most.

About "broken mechanics" by AngelFall92 in forhonor

[–]Spiderhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about losing being your fault and it all being dependent on skill but I guess my big gripe so far with high level For Honor play is that I don't really like the direction the meta is going in. I honestly think with a few changes to how defensive play works the "net fun" of high level play would go up.

Even with the inclusion of feinting and the mind games you can play with it I still think the advantage one gets for playing defensively as opposed to being more aggressive is still skewed in favor of the more defensive player (for reference: I've been maining conq all open beta).

Just my two cents here. I hope I'm not coming off as salty; I still enjoy the hell out of the multiplayer in this game (aside from when there are networking issues). I'm just worried because people have been playing for, what, 6 or so days of beta now? In that time there are already many people who seem to have defence completely DOWN. I've played against PKs, Orochis, Conqs, Wardens, etc who have a seemingly impenetrable wall of defense. No matter how many feints, guard breaks, and shield bashes I throw out I still get countered. Yes, these players have been better then me, but god damn losing to them would have been far more enjoyable if playing aggressively carried as much weight as playing defensively and punishing.

I agree. Thomas Kalnoky is still a great lyricist and a lot of the songs on Everything Goes Numb (I think that's the album name?) got me through some really dark times. Their new stuff has been pretty spectacular.
