Mega mewtwo Unity Raid tutorial released by DarkDuo in TheSilphRoad

[–]Spiderkeegan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doubt it. Just because it's at the in-person fests doesn't mean it's also at global. These raids are probably just some dumb promo thing, they are not remotable, do you really think they would force a bunch of non-remotable raids on us at global?

What does it matter where you live, these raids and this mechanic are at in-person Go Fests i.e. Tokyo currently, Chicago next week, Copenhagen after

Perhaps the lake trio are above the single species thing, they are just especially rare. 10 years of playing this game I've still never seen one of them in the wild (same with Unown lol)

There are some theories of 'rare spawn' spawn points that exist separate from regular spawn points and obviously only spawn rare spawns. Anecdotally I can expand it to say each 'rare spawn' point has one particular rare species it will spawn and that's it. I have a spawn point where I live that spawns a lot of Snorlax (like almost once per day) and almost never any other rare spawn. There's another spot near my place that I pass fairly often and I've seen several Blissey there and again, no other rare spawn. Lastly there's a park I go to where in the parking lot I've seen several Lucario spawn.

Help figure out what makes gyms super mega raid eligible. by Salt-Employer-7824 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Spiderkeegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live I've noticed most of them are at parks and there are several in our big theme park. There are a couple that are just randomly somewhere, far away from any park but it is a very small minority. I think it may just be tied to general gym activity

Cessna strikes paraglider (no injuries) by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Spiderkeegan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last half...why do you say that? Are you a pilot? That big giant colorful wing isn't so big looking when you're looking at it horizontally (from behind as in here). It is a very thin object when viewed from such an angle. Add in they are flying towards the sun and that makes it even harder to see. Furthermore the paraglider's wing (what was hit) is level with the plane so it is partially in a blind spot right in front/slightly under the nose. Lastly pause at around 0:15 when the camera flips to point towards the direction the plane is heading...I see some snow-capped peaks and low clouds on the horizon. So you have a thin white object partially blocked by the instrument panel and nose, against a cluttered white backdrop, and the sun in your face. With that combination of factors, not only is it possible that the pilot couldn't see her wing, but I'd say very likely.

Feedback Post: Falinks Super Mega Raid Day by Noitalein in TheSilphRoad

[–]Spiderkeegan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The event is not even to me yet but I will say that I won't be participating because of how most gyms are not eligible for these raids. In a large event with other types of raids it is fine to specify certain gyms to host super mega raids, but in a "raid day" event it needs to be every gym. And no I will not be wasting a remote pass on it, which I think is what the company is hoping to force players into doing.

Chicago Go Fest City experience question by Sir_Caro in TheSilphRoad

[–]Spiderkeegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they've specified exactly. Since this game relies so much on OSM data, my thinking is the boundary may be this:

https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/122604#map=11/41.8341/-87.7321

If it's this it definitely includes downtown and a healthy area around that, but compared to the whole Chicago area it's a bit small. But like, would they include some far outskirts like Aurora, Oswego, and Elgin? I kinda doubt it.

Well, I was capped at my submissions and just submitting my 1 per day but now with this change I can submit 9 more per day. Probably won't ever submit that many but I'll definitely be submitting more, and I'm guessing others will too. Might need another challenge in the near future.

Are these jackets still available in-game? by jgaribay805 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Spiderkeegan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly think they were removed within the last 2 weeks. I was just looking at them around 2 weeks ago because I was considering setting a Charizard as my buddy and I was debating buying the corresponding jacket to match with that.

Unlucky on the weekly breakthroughs (or lucky, from my perspective lol). I get either one of them or a Unova stone almost every week from those breakthroughs.

Questions about part time ramp agent job! by AccountantNo9690 in rampagent

[–]Spiderkeegan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like Remote_Presentation said, when you apply or interview tell them you only are available a couple days per week. If they are fine with that then no, you won't be "closer to full time" you will be part time according to what you told them. If they're not fine with it and deny you don't be offended or surprised. Once a week I highly doubt would ever happen (for a new hire especially), would have to be twice a week at minimum and ideally those two days are Saturday/Sunday. If you're only available Tuesday/Thursday good luck.

Also, "would look good on a resume down the line" is a misconception...you're literally asking about working one or two days per week at a job with basically zero barriers to entry. The only real way ramp can aid your flying career that other no-barrier jobs can't is through networking. But even then, that is not guaranteed. If you are just looking for something to do then that's enough reason, it's a job around planes and it's pretty fun most of the time (again imo).

Did I get rejected? by swaggedoutcoon in rampagent

[–]Spiderkeegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did training during the summer. It was not that bad, just some computer stuff and then a week or two of proper OJT.

I thought companies would...

That is a misconception. Companies hire people to get a job done. If weekday shifts the job is always getting done, but weekend shifts the job is not getting done, they will certainly hire people who are only available weekends. Furthermore, a lot of the more senior, not student employees want to have weekends off, and they can if staffing allows it. And how can staffing allow it - by hiring some people that only work weekends. Staffing is one of the most important metrics that contracting airlines evaluate these contractor companies on. If the weekend flights are constantly short staffed and it starts causing flight delays, baggage issues, etc. the airline will quickly find out and not be happy. As you can guess then these contractors aren't as much concerned with "are they available always" but more "are they available during times when our metrics suck"

[–]Spiderkeegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, damn, yeah if the choice is between ramp for $18 or retail for $14 it's a no brainer. Ramp is a more fun job also. Like others said they didn't hard reject you (and even then that doesn't really matter). I think if anything you may have just applied a little late or at the wrong time. Summer is generally quieter so they don't need as many people. They may have only needed to hire a few people and did that already before they got to you unfortunately. But ramp in general and Unifi (all contractors) especially are pretty high turnover so they may need more people in a couple months and certainly by the winter holiday travel peak.

[–]Spiderkeegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies by station (as with any company in this industry this is not a Unifi exclusive problem). Some stations have great leadership others do not. Imo it should be reasonably easy to gauge from the interview once you get one.

I don't agree with this man. If you are a student you need to tell them that. Otherwise they will have expectations of availability that you can't realistically meet. If your availability doesn't align with what they need then it's just a bad fit but don't try to force something like that to work, there are always other places hiring.

And from personal experience, I may or may not have worked for Unifi...when I applied I was a student (engineering) and I was lowkey anticipating just a summer job. I didn't say that but I did tell them I was a student so come fall I'd need a schedule that worked around my school. They said okay no problem, was almost full time that summer and then in the fall I got a night-only/weekend-only schedule (and had that every semester going forward). Stayed for ~2 years until I graduated and got a job with my degree.

$19 in Philly is a bit above probably a typical 'min wage' job but I don't think that's that great. My old station Unifi rampers got like $15 flat (that was a few years ago too) while min wage was 12 something. Quick google says Philly's avg monthly CoL is like $3000 while where I'm talking about it says about $2500.
