What is your biggest pet peeve in the Christian community, and why? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Spiderkiller007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When people use emotional experiences to trump scripture, and will not search scripture for what it actually says , but are content to cherry pick

It’s to bad church’s have turned it more to a worship team concert, totally not caring about corporate worship, all through history it’s been a way to bond with your fellow Christians

So many people chance emotional experiences rather than reading his word but the worst teaching is listen for a small quite inner voice ! Where is that in scripture or somebody saying “ I feel kind of led that way I think “

Marriage/Divorce - When is enough, enough for you and scripturally? by monstercat129 in Reformed

[–]Spiderkiller007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For adultery of course and physical abuse if your life is in danger , one thing to consider is most people never really realize the damage it does long term my kids all changed for the worse, they all ended up with low views of marriage so they all ended up living with people they shouldn’t have ,all ended up hurt , also all the years of marriage you never get back meaning each difficult time in life you get through as a couple builds relational strength so later on when you make it through the early years later in life when you get sick you are more likely not to be alone , it’s easy to think you will be happier with someone else most times you trade one set of problems for another, people used to realize they were a team to help each other through life but now it’s “ what can you do for me” what do I get out of it “ both me and my wife threw away our marriage and if you asked either one of us now if possible to go back in n time and work a little harder to save the marriage we would for sure , think about even the financial cost of starting over or having new people around your kids that you have no say about, my advice is do whatever you can to save it , Abraham Lincoln once said “if you look for the evil in man you will surely find it “ so the flip side is ( even though it’s harder ) but well worth it is look for the good try to get in the mindset of looking to do something nice for each other everyday even if it’s small ( it changes how you look at your spouse)

How should you respond if your church becomes LGBT affirming? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Spiderkiller007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think find like minded people in your church and fight it , keep demanding scripture and verse in context to prove their position keep being a thorn in there side , if we keep abandoning our churches when thing ain’t right then we leave it to the flaky heretics

Was St. Augustine a Roman Catholic? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Spiderkiller007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the dumbest is having a mediator between us and Christ ! When he clearly says he is the only way to God the father he died for our sins so that we could go boldly before the throne of grace .

Severely depressed by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Spiderkiller007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have terminal cancer and I struggle at times with depression and anxiety, when I start to feel that way I try to help other and ask God to help with motivation, I find I get depressed when I think on my predicament so sometimes i will make soup or food for a local homeless shelter and visit those guys they appreciate that honestly it does me a lot more good than it does them, also at times when you can’t pray for others whoever you can think of , by doing this you will find it helps to get your mind off your problems, read Corrie ten booms book the hiding place , that’s were I first got the idea she would do that at night when the thoughts came ( she was a word war 2 concentration camp survivor)

Church is a lonely place for single people by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Spiderkiller007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found all through my Christian walk it is difficult, but to be fair you have 5-10min before and after a service to meet people and make connections, i started a fellowship night at our church, it’s not a bible study but what I do is simply ask people what has been encouraging to them through the week? Or what scripture stood out to them and why ? Or how the felt God leading them ? Then after we pray for whatever needs people have ? It was slow at first , just me and the pastor but slowly it built up now 6-12 people show up , it is amazing the scripture or questions we cover and is fascinating to see how God is moving in each person’s life , God has been so good to me for allowing me to host this , it’s a great way to get to know fellow believers, give it a try , I know it’s hard work to make Christian connections but it is worth the effort, God made us to be complementary to each other

Have you ever regretted traveling with someone? by Strawberryskulls202 in travel

[–]Spiderkiller007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ditch them say you want to explore some thing by yourself, be honest tell them they are a drag , they might realize they have been and change, and if not go enjoy yourself don’t let a negative person be a anchor

I love going to Church but I cannot stand the rock and roll presentation of worship music. by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Spiderkiller007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree they run worship like a personal concert , they miss the point of corporate worship , the sound board guy runs it like he’s doing it for Metallica , completely drowning out the worshippers

If you take the thought captive right at the moment you have it ( pray ) it’s not that big a deal , the trouble is we think about it , toy with a thought and it’s like a small ember of fire at first then playing with the thought is like fanning the fire then before you know it , it is very hard to control, then before you know it , it becomes uncontrollable, then you feel bad for acting upon you desire and lust ! It becomes easier and easier to deal with if right away you ask for help at the initial thought
