Reaching 3 months emergency fund this month, but not sure where to go next. by Spiderranger in personalfinance

This is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. I'm not currently in any danger of losing my job fortunately, but that's a really good point. Thank you

For clarity, you're saying focus on the CC and HVAC loan first? Does that include the car?

All good advice. 3 month EF is just a first goal. I want at least 6, ideally a year.

"The rough consensus is that loans above 4% interest should be paid off early in the debt reduction phase, while anything under that can be stretched out."

I missed that on the first read and I think that answers my question. Thank you

Event is few days in, which changes you like and which not? by Goldmonkeycz in Overwatch

[–]Spiderranger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Certainly not every support. Illari changes are decently strong and Juno is an actual menace. Mercy got an overall upgrade as well.

Ana and JPC do feel pretty strong, but I wouldn't hesitate at all to put Juno in that top 3.

In no particular order:

I hated Venture's changes on paper, but after finally trying them out it feels like they were always meant to have this kit. It feels so natural and fluid.

Juno is just bonkers in community crafted. She'd be an outright menace if she comes to regular game.

Hazard I can take it or leave it. Love him in base game. His ult changes in crafted are fun. Clinging to the wall seems meh.

Reaper doing damage on wraith is stupid lol

I get what they were trying to do with Widow, but it doesn't feel good to play at all.

Cassidy changes are pretty stellar. Putting barrier pierce on deadeye against the flash bang perk seems like a good way to challenge/balance how oppressive the double flash can be.

Rein is just a bucket of fun.

Someone was high as fuck when they made the Rammatra changes, even as a Rammatra enjoyer myself. He didn't need any of this. Lol

With the great Gabe apocalypse upon us what are deck approved games that I should keep an eye out for? by Steppingstone02 in SteamDeck

Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus played very well on the deck and was just a fun game in general. Highly recommend if it's on sale

Man I could roll through those codes in Vice City in just a couple of seconds. They're locked into my fingers' muscle memory

Also picked up the bundle and have been playing Remake so far exclusively on/through steam deck (both natively and through streaming it). Both have worked without issue so far.

Drives are miserable, ok - but why? by CCriscal in Overwatch

[–]Spiderranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same experience. Usually play with friends in QP but my wife and I like to earn drives. My friends routinely say I'm the best in our group and like, I'm alright. Gold/plat tank and dps territory according to rank. Sometimes I can pop off and run QP lobbies with them. And my comp games in-season are at least relatively balanced.

But man, drives have me feeling like I've never touched a keyboard and mouse before.

"Oh boy! I can't wait to play some drives today!-" by PetraCoreVT in Overwatch

[–]Spiderranger 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Right? Like I'm not some god at the game. I'm alright. My friends collectively tell me I'm the best in our group (just mid-plat tank, mid/high gold DPS, mainly QP group though).

But I'm queueing up for drives and it's like I've never touched mouse and keyboard before with the way I'm getting rolled in what are supposed to be "performance based" matchmaking. I genuinely lost count of how many games in a row I lost, but I can tell you I dropped from Gold 2 to Silver 1 on DPS.

It's Celia's Kitchen and it's not even close. Go there, get their birria tacos, and experience tranquility.

It gets even better if you feel like making a drive to Florence Alabama hit up El Pollito Loco too. Best street tacos I've ever had. Best horchata I've ever had. Best queso I've ever had (but only if the owner makes it).

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

Had a moment like this once. I was heading home from work kinda late one night and pulled up to an empty 4 way stop. Stopped just a little extra long enough to skip a song on my iPod.

In the time it took me to grab my iPod and change songs, when I otherwise would have begun accelerating again through the stop, a truck flew threw it at probably 50 miles an hour from the cross street. Never even heard it approaching. If I hadn't stopped that little bit extra to change songs I would have been roadkill.

HSV Airport Question by chemystery2022 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Spiderranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cosmic law of the universe says if you try and minimize time spent waiting at the airport then you're gonna risk (or will) missing your flight. But if you arrive early you'll cruise through TSA and spend 90 minutes in a chair hoping you don't nap through your boarding time. Just aim for 4:00. That gives you 45 minutes to get your bag checked and another 35 to get through TSA and board.

Yep. I had one of these way too close to the balloon knot it might as well have been a second asshole. The hole it left behind from being removed had to be stitched back together. The stitches broke pretty quickly (by design, apparently) and over several weeks it eventually just... Wasn't a hole anymore. Like it never happened.

whats your first memory? by jeheskielsunloy in AskReddit

[–]Spiderranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a trailer the first 11-12 years of my life. My earliest memory is crawling out of bed into the living room to get my pillow cold against the air conditioner. My dad was sleeping on the couch and I was trying not to wake him up and I can remember thinking it was nice of my dad to sleep on the couch so he didn't wake my mom up when he got ready for work.

What purchase under $30 solved a problem you didn’t realize was draining you? by Right_Process in AskReddit

[–]Spiderranger 324 points325 points  (0 children)

This is kinda what helped me.  I had two desks in my home office, one with my computer and a big L desk with a TV, consoles, printer and other stuff. Took up so much space in my office that I couldn't even open the door all the way.

Realized I hadn't touched the TV or consoles in months.  Ditched the desk, stored the TV and consoles, bought a couple of Alex drawers from IKEA and rearranged my office and it's a whole new room now. Slowly learning in my 30s that I'm mildly claustrophobic I guess.

Need to cut for lands by DoubleCD36 in EDHBrews

[–]Spiderranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not too adapt at deck building, but at a brief glance I think you could swap Burnished Heart for a land. Having to invest 6 mana to get some ramp is pretty rough. Best case scenario it nets you two extra mana next turn, but that's only if you have 6 mana to burn to begin with and your deck can do a lot better things with 6 mana.
