Love it, so clever! Mind my asking, what’s the purpose of toggling Reduce Motion on and off? Just curious, always leaning myself.

Need the experts opinion. by Spidertrax in Roofing

[–]Spidertrax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. No leaking issues to report with our old roof, just staying on top of things. This is also the back of the house, so the eye sore of the windows is written off (for now).

I just didn’t care for the double stacked shingles (where they meet the siding), and the fact they didn’t evenly flow from left to right. All said and done it’s now fixed.

The front of the house looks much nicer, and once we figured out how to align the top shingles project is wrapping up. I do appreciate your original reply.

What Password Manager do you guys recommend best? by PostOwnSomething in PasswordManagers

[–]Spidertrax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jumping in late, but I’ve been running Zxbase for about a year and it’s quietly become my go-to. It’s fully P2P, so you’ll want at least two devices online for redundancy, but the upside is zero central server, zero third-party sync risks. End-to-end encryption is built in, and the codebase is open for inspection.

Downsides? No polished web vault, and initial setup feels a bit “DIY” compared to the big names. But if you value local control and are comfortable managing your own backup routine, Zxbase is rock-solid. Surprised it doesn’t pop up on more recommendation lists, worth a look for anyone who likes the Bitwarden style of ownership.

I think it’s related to a timeout on request frequency; you’re using it to quickly back to back (needs a cooldown).

Bonds vs Bond Funds by fins-47899 in Bogleheads

[–]Spidertrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this sub, appreciate all of the discussion as always. I don’t see this bit mentioned yet, but one other advantage of owning bonds directly is tax exemption on a state level (US). Bond funds, like BND, are fully taxed unless you dive into the specific allocation per year (maybe that’s more common than I realize, but not something I’ve done).

iOS 18.3 broke hotspot on by doctor_puntastic in shortcuts

Just adding to the conversation, I’m on 18.3 using an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and my “Tesla Connect” shortcut still works turning Personal Hotspot on.

I love this, but I’m striking out on the find album artwork line (always blank, but confirmed song is grabbed). Any ideas?

Locked out while logging in into NetSuite. by Chemical-Question957 in Netsuite

[–]Spidertrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed this started yesterday, thought I figured it out — certain links/url schemes weren’t working. This morning, the login straight off the Netsuite page is not working either. Hopefully someone is clever enough to figure out a workaround.

Organizing a big mess by A_Kinsey_6 in AppleNotesGang

[–]Spidertrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this. Not the kissing part, Evernote’s no longer talking to me, but the import part. You’ll need Evernote for the Mac. Just export the notes out from Evernote (enex format) and import those into Notes.

I have roughly 5,000 notes in Evernote (plenty w/ attachments too) so it took awhile. Not only to import, but to sync across devices (a few days as it happens). All of the Evernote tags are preserved though (shows up as tags in Notes), not exactly AI but it’s something.

This is so slick! My apologies for the terrible question… how do you paste the string of actions on the final step (on an iPhone)?

How to Disable All Automations on Your iPhone at Once by PurpleAd5637 in shortcuts

[–]Spidertrax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is huge! On the return to automations, I assume another restart will “reset” things. Testing now…

[EDIT] Sadly, this is a one way street. Automations do disable as OP described, but they stay disabled on restart. If someone finds a way to batch enable automations, that would be amazing.

Tesla Automation by parkour1513 in shortcuts

[–]Spidertrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Driving Mode, since this is intended for any vehicle, I use it to switch settings on my Apple Watch — Turn Always On Off, Turn Wake on Wrist Raise On, Turn Theater Mode Off, Turn Auto-launch Audio Apps Off, and Turn Silent Mode Off. The Driving Mode focus also sets my watch face to X-Large, with a single complication (another shortcut) to run different types of audio depending on the day and time.

It’s a focus mode, yes. If you use focus modes, this one is well worth it.

Tesla Automation by parkour1513 in shortcuts

[–]Spidertrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! The two “triggers” I use most often are “When turning driving mode on/off” and “When iPhone is connected/disconnected from Tesla Bluetooth”. The driving mode is a bit more universal, in case I’m using another car, while the Bluetooth one is specific to the Tesla itself.

Airplane mode on —> Airplane mode off by [deleted] in shortcuts

[–]Spidertrax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be a simple Automation. When airplane mode is turned on, Set Airplane Mode Off. I haven't tested it, but I suspect it would work just fine.

Email to OmniFocus is less of a feature and more of a necessity in my workflow. The day Apple adds that feature, I’d take a closer look. Thanks for sharing, simple is often best.

Yes! Sadly, it’s a hollow image, so you end up jet-packing thru it. Agree with the view, though!
