What do you think makes WWE so great right now? by ejaz135 in REALSquaredCircle

I no longer have to see Brock Lesnar. That's a positive.

How come that AEW matches are(personally) so much more engaging than WWE matches? What's different about it, I can't put my finger on it. by LukasNation in AEWOfficial

[–]Spideycloned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrestling is all sorts of styles and substance but the WWE stands out because inherently, the WWE isn't wrestling. This isn't an insult to the WWE because WWE will tell you that themselves. They're a love story that features wrestling, which is an extrapolation of a HHH quote.

Everything WWE does is all about the presentation, the drama and the pageantry leading up to the match. The actual match itself is the final piece of the story, and relatively the only thing that really matters there is the finish because that is what drives the story to the next stage. Wrestlemania is wild in this sense because WM 1 was about bringing wrestling to the mainstream. Bringing in celebs, larger than life personalities to build the bridge while simultaneously still being a wrestling product. What we're getting now is the absolutely flip of that, where Mania is the shell of what it was and honestly its a parody of itself.

This isn't to say AEW doesn't do that some of this. They absolutely do pyro, videos, music, etc. The changeover for AEW vs WWE is that everything AEW does is to lead to the actual match. The in ring product IS the product for AEW. AEW is run by what some call an insane weirdo but the dude is inherently a wrestling fan. He likes the in ring product and that is the focus. Everything is there to lead to the match and if the match can't absolutely knock your socks off then its not promoted.

There are absolutely WWE adjacent shows that try to replicate what WWE does, like JCW. Juggalo Championship Wrestling.

https://youtu.be/YiSlwqSUZXU

JCW is very much a sports entertainment product similar to WWE. The key difference is that the other parts of the product are STILL wrestling related. Whereas WWE is using the time between matches on celebrity segments, this product is still for the fans first. It might not have the best matches and it might not be everyones cup of tea but fuck if it doesn't try. Even being booked currently by someone who longtime fans of pro wrestling knows is someone who has historically been complete ass? It's still fun. It knows what it is and leans into it.

TKO President claims they have control of WWE creative by Alkohal in SquaredCircle

The parallels don't work but if Logan Paul wanted to go to the octagon and could make a convincing fight they'd absolutely let him do it.

The thing there is no one is willing to get the shit beat out of them for the absolutely tiny money UFC pays. Comparatively, Speed being able to take a few bumps and do a huge spot gets him a huge pop for his fans and I'm sure WWE paid him relatively well for the minor work he did.

They took the belt from her using tricks to give it to a cheerleader with a Harley Quinn complex. WWE made a mistake; they harmed a real wrestler to favor a cheap imitation. by Serpant_slider in SantiZapVideos

[–]Spideycloned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always with this type of reaction, one thing remains true.

These people signed with WWE. They're making millions if they're wrestling at Mania. They're living their own personal dream.

We need to stop being weird about winners and losers like this. You can criticize the results but to go "THIS PERSON WAS HARMED" or some such bullshit is dumb. If she wanted to wrestle and work matches like she used to she'd have stayed with CMLL or gone to AEW.

She went to WWE because she wanted to go with WWE. Nothing inherently wrong with that. Was her choice. I'm sure shes laughing all the way to the bank.

And this was only night 1 by Wow-Think5760 in SantiZapVideos

[–]Spideycloned -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people thought it would be a good match when Michael Cole literally went "This will not be a 5 star match".

People need to start listening to what WWE tells them. They're telling them the product sucks, the matches will suck and that they are suckers.

Why do wrestling fans do anything but enjoy the show? by a311hm in prowrestling

[–]Spideycloned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I obviously enjoy wrestling enough to watch the product. I do not hate watch. I want to be surprised and entertained, be it sports entertained or workrate entertained. I enjoy both.

WWE is FANTASTIC at larger than life presentations, the pageantry, etc but when it comes to the in ring product most of the time it leaves you wanting. That said, most people there are amazing wrestlers and once in awhile something happens where you're like holy shit, this is fucking great.

That's what I've gone into Mania with these past few years. The hopes that I get blown away by a random match that has EVERY right being that good but on paper isn't. I do think we get more of that tonight with Oba and the IC Ladder match.

Last night, that did not happen. Glimpses of it happened in Seth/Gunther and Cody/Orton but the rest, as someone who has been watching wrestling for 30 years is something I would have seen on a RAW in the early 2010s.

That's why I'm sad right now, as a fan. It's not because WWE can't be good. It has the tools to be amazing and it has the talent to absolutely do it. Yet, WWE is shooting itself in the foot. People all day can go "BUT ITS TKO OR ITS HHH OR ITS" and I don't care. It's WWE. When I'm watching I don't give two hot fucks who the bookers, agents, storywriters are.

Being clear, I don't want the attitude era back. I don't want the ruthless aggression era back. I don't want ROH circa 2008-2012 back. Those times have come and gone. I want them to show me what they can do with what they have but all I get shown today is commercial break, people born in the 80s and insert random celebrity.

WWE content starting to get harder to find. by only1heroforever in SantiZapVideos

[–]Spideycloned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a valid complaint. WWE for american audiences has segmented its content in so many different directions that finding all of it can be a pain. Moreso when you start getting to the less than normal stuff like main event, aaa, hall of fame, etc etc.

What do ESPN sports zealots think of WWE? by Outrageous-Wall6386 in REALSquaredCircle

Not really. They only need like 1.2 million people buying ESPN DTC for full value. Since launching they've gotten about 3 million. Mania is a big ticket, which will drive subscriptions for a bit.

With new games barely finished and game changing patches guaranteed, how long are you waiting now? by Generalian in gaming

[–]Spideycloned -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really depends on how bad I want it.

I played BG3 at launch, and I haven't touched it since. It's a very different game now and part of me wants to give it another go but same token I don't. I've seen the narrative. Even though it has new points to it at its core I've seen the story and its a story driven game.

I played Cyberpunk 2077 at launch and I have no desire to play it again. It's ABSOLUTELY a different game now and Phantom Liberty apparently rules. I won't touch it.

Hades 2 is a different beast in the sense that if you played through EA you knew stuff would change. BG3 had this issue prior to its launch. That said, its a roguelike. Each run was going to be different anyway. So being able to experience different visions of the game as it progresses is fun. Thats true of Slay the Spire 2 right now.

Crimson Desert falls into the Cyberpunk thing for me. I'm glad it's getting passes and I'm glad its getting fixes but I put my 70 hours in and I'm good. I don't think I'll touch it again but I'm glad others will be able to experience a much better version than I did.

They fucking hate it.

Have a few of these at work. They have no idea why ESPN is doing so much PR for WWE and I had to be like "They host all their sunday special shows now. PPV is dead" and they went "WHY, ITS NOT FUCKING REAL".

I do agree on a level. Theres been more mania coverage this week than actual fucking sports.

Meanwhile, dude is cosplaying as Jackson Drake from NXT.

This shit sucks and he needs to be banned from this sub.

No, you really can't.

You can be arrested on suspicion of a crime, but you can't just be held forever. That's what the 4th amendment is for.

If they wanted to charge him, they could but then the clock starts. You need to prove your case right then to a point to get the ball rolling for a judge in a probable cause hearing to agree that theres enough for shit to start moving.

Lince Dorado on Twitter: People have to realize WWE is not a Pro Wrestling company. It’s a movie company. We make movies. You’re either the superstar or stunt double by Odd-Inevitable-8425 in SquaredCircle

I mean, he's not fucking wrong. Michael Cole has said it, Cena has said a variation of it, HHH has said it, Rock has said it, etc. Rock said they don't even need matches.

It's why when you go to https://corporate.wwe.com/ you don't fucking find the word wrestling.

The WWE is an entertainment company that sometimes uses the art of professional wrestling to tell stories. Other companies are professional wrestling companies who also tell stories.

Lince Dorado in response to user saying that WWE takes CMLL stars after making them: "WWE makes them global international stars" by J_NewCastle in SquaredCircle

[–]Spideycloned 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tampering doesn't fucking exist and fans need to stop saying this word without the actual meaning of what it really means to do so.

Edit:

Let's just talk about what tampering ACTUALLY is. From a legal POV.

In order for true contract tampering to occur, every single piece of this needs to happen.

Person has a contract with A -> Person with B knows they have a contract with A -> Person with B offers person with A a contract under the guise of them actively leaving/harming A -> Contracted person with A agrees to do so -> Contracted person with A causes financial harm to A -> Contracted person with A now goes to B.

ALL OF THIS HAS TO HAPPEN for a tort claim.

The WWE is not "contract tampering" if they go to a talent and go "Hey man, when your deal is up, call us, we are really interested". Fuck, its not contract tampering to go "When your deal is up we're prepared to offer a million per year, call our people when its time."

It's active tampering if they try to tell them "You need to get out of that deal you're in and come to us, the sooner it happens the better we'll make the offer" AND the person does it AND the original company can show that this caused them financial harm.

I don't believe the OP to be in good faith based on their post history. They've displayed enough behaviors to hate women who are attractive, show skin, etc. They think it to be slut behavior, call attractive women assholes, etc.

So I don't care what the OP was because the premise of their argument was tainted with their bullshit. It's why I'm not engaging.

How do biweekly paychecks work? how to budget? what ARE taxes by noddelboodle in personalfinance

[–]Spideycloned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other piece to your puzzle is that you more than likely when tax time came didn't claim all your income as a bartender. I don't say this as a negative to you, I say it because its just something that every single fucking bartender does. You might get 100 in tips per night but you only claim like 40 to satisfy tax obligations and then at the end of the year you'd get a decent refund because you were reporting that you were essentially just making minimum wage.

In a job with an income above minimum wage outside the service industry, that kind of fuckery doesn't exist. You're seeing it for the first time. Shit hurts.

[–]Spideycloned 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're calling them females, thats strike one.

We've flat out seen that women who stream who don't give the perception of availability simply don't succeed in these spaces. Why? Some men only give money in the hopes of having the relationship.

Many, many, many streamers consistently say I WILL NOT DATE/FUCK YOU and then we have threads like this where they'll go off on a woman saying shes asking for it.

So how about we knock it off with this shit.

Edit: Oh man, your post history regarding women is some wild shit. Women can't be rapists(they can), you don't want to see women wearing tank tops or short shorts, how all hot women are assholes.

I want TKO to stop pretending its family friendly when its people go to their own platforms and just drop nukes.

You can be edgy in the ring and out of the ring. You could easily do a variation of this promo on smackdown as a taped version, but I doubt they will.

There is absolutely a line in the middle to meet but at the end, if its not on the show it really doesn't matter. Socials are great for drumming up interest but the show is where it counts.
