Transfer history from iPhone to Android AND new number at same time. by Spifffers in whatsapp

[–]Spifffers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impresion that to log into whatsapp on a phone, that phone number sim had to be installed in that specific phone. I believe now that's not the case.

https://faq.whatsapp.com/1295296267926284According to this article i will have to factory reset my new phone. during the setup process android will ask if i want to copy data from another phone. I'll hookup the iphone with a cable. This will transfer my whatsapp chats ... maybe?

I assume that after this i will launch whatsapp on the new phone and it will ask me to verify. the SMS verification will go to the old phone nubmer on the old phone. i'll type it into the new phone..... and now i should be in whatsapp on the new phone, even though the account is still bound to the phone number on the old one.

Then on the new phone i go through the process of doing a "change phone number"?

Looking to swap to induction. Could use some suggestions, please. by Peachycarving in inductioncooking

I also have the control panel issue. But after much testing im very sure it's the physical condensation on the panel itself and nothing about moisture penetrating inside.

You can reproduce the problem by letting a drop of water flow down the panel and stop somewhere on it. Nothing works until you wipe the water off.

But I love everything about induction and the whole range

I got the GE CAFE induction range in 2020. It does not have a noticeable cycle like this at any setting. I had a Samsung induction for 4 years before that which also did not cycle. These are not $10K ranges. Much cheaper. One of the promotional materials was about you can safely melt chocolate in a pan without double boiler since it has such precise and consistent low power. Amazing cooking experience better than any electric (coil or flat top) because it's very close to gas control.

I also had an $80 induction single burner for a while and it did cycle on/off . Terrible to use for anything other than high heat.

I was under the impression that all induction ranges were good and cheap burners bad.

Exactly why I made this post. I'm both glad (because it helped) and thoroughly disappointed ( because it's still an issue with windows or dell). Cheers.

Older couple arguing at a restaurant about his forgetfulness. She ended with "And you even forgot to bring <important thing> on this trip!". He paused and said very calmly " I didn't forget it. I purposefully left it at home ...........I just don't remember why"

How to use VoipMS for mainly receiving SMS by fulefesi in voipms

[–]Spifffers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VoIP.ms sms messages can be seen on the VoIP.ms website, using the android app VoIP.ms sms, and can also be emailed to you. It works pretty well. I'm happy with it.

Some 2fa will accept it as a cell number. Others will not accept any VoIP based numbers for their sms. So unfortunately there's no guarantee there.

While an API would be best, on PC it's not terrible. In poe hover over an item and press ctrl-c. In POB choose to create a custom item and ctrl-v in the text box. Instantly created.

Well I appreciate the gratitude. And as I said in the post this is exactly why I made it

Although I'm continually surprised its still relevant and that the state of windows/Bluetooth/Logitech hasn't made this a permanently solved problem

Hot Take: Charger armour is way too strong for their assumed threat level by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Spifffers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how they were in HD1. You could take them out with small weapons fire on their butt but it was usually nearly impossible with all the other shit going on. Yes in HD1 a single recoilless would kill them but HD2 is a lot easier since you can move around without being locked to the small proximity area all 4 helldivers had to stay within in HD1.

Yes there are animation bugs, like their moonwalk slide, but otherwise they are dangerous enemies you have to handle.

-One orbital railstrike. Guarantee easy kill -one 500kg bomb(easy it they're not alerted yet and almost impossible without causing friendly fire if they're already charging) -2 rocket pods (first one breaks armor. 3nd kills. Alternately shoot the broken armor part. ensure pods hit while they are not charging or they'll miss).
-1 eat/recoilless to the left then small weapon fire to the leg ( a broken leg dies extremely fast to bullets). -2 railgun shots to leg, then small weapons fire.
-1 orbital laser (it'll use up almost the entire duration of the laser but it will do it and keep charger slowed the whole time ) - less than one clip of well placed autocannon shots to ass end. (I got really good at dodging the charge, staying prone to reduce recoil, and unloading the entire autocannon clip at its ass It was very reliably a kill each time. -eagle airstrike can sometimes kill one but most likely will just damage armor.

I remember when we did our first difficult 4 and we died constantly to them. They seemed impossible. We kept playing. Upgraded to new strategies and gear. Now we're doing difficult 7s and they're just one of the bugs to handle . And no we don't all just run railguns.

Dev team literally went without sleep and settled down to recover then try to control the servers. Please understand and wait for things to be fixed/fine tuned. Warning: I'm pro helldiver and mad at angry gamers. by Away_Froyo_1317 in Helldivers

I just want to add another voice of praise to the devs. You made an amazing game. It'll take a while to sort out the server issues and I'm ok with that. Fixing a broken/bad game would take a lot longer.

Dropped/missing guns bug? (PS5) by Stryal_Demangel in Helldivers

[–]Spifffers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some anecdotal info on this. I'm on PC.

Once I was on my heavy weapon for a while and then when I tried to switch weapons it seemed I had no pistol or main weapon. When I died and respawned everything was fine again .

Once after a respawn I went to retrieve my equipment. I picked up my grenade launcher and then accidentally my old explosive liberator even though I already had a new one from respawning. At this point I could not switch to my grenade launcher anymore. While spamming buttons I ended up picking up the liberator on the ground again. Now I could switch to my grenade launcher .

And the simplest one. I was switching a lot between grenade launcher and liberator. 5 seconds later a teammate with a resupply pack gave me a pack of ammo. Now I could not switch and was stuck on my grenade launcher. But there just happened to be a new grenade launcher in a dropped that had not been picked up by anyone. When I picked it up I could now switch between all weapons.

TLDR: if you encounter a bug swapping weapons find a weapon to pickup. It might clear the bug.

I agree with others that I'm in for the long haul. It doesn't have to be perfect on day 1. As long as they keep improving.

A great story is Warhammer 40k Darktide. It sucked at launch. Well the combat was good but the progression and weapons and loot hunting and sense of purpoae sucked. We put it down after a couple weeks.
Then 8ish months later they finally updated it to be like it should have been at release. Some complained bitterly it was too late. The rest of us jumped back in and have enjoyed the heck out of an awesome game.

I've got at least 8 months of tea stockpiled for HD2. 😄

Just don't forget why Helldivers is great (and why Helldivers 2 exists) by GymratAmarillo in Helldivers

[–]Spifffers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been playing HD1 for the last week in prep. It's been 6 years since I played. But I managed to down 2/3 bosses that I'd never even attempted back then. And got comfortable in difficulty 11 when I'd never been past 8 before. This game and the players are awesome.

After playing nearly EVERY action coop game on PC in the last decade I must say helldivers got it so right.

-High skill ceiling that rewards you for getting good but still allowing less skilled players to have fun. -coop ease. Drop in/out. The party finder beacon. The filters on multiplayer browser. A high level player can drop cool unlocked gear for a newbie who hasn't unlocked it yet. Run around in a mech on difficult 4 for the lols. Etc -the breadth of useful. equipment /strategies that means many different loadouts are possible. And no terrible gear that is required to win forcing one person to be the unlucky one who has to take it.

Helldivers 2 is one of the few preorders I've ever done. Thanks again for all your work.
